We recently returned from POR and most buses now have prerecorded information on them instead of the driver giving out the info.

On more than one bus we heard the following 2 announcements.

1) We encourage you to visit our different resorts and if you are a guest at any WDW resort you may use the pools at all WDW resorts.:confused3

2) As a WDW resort guest you may purchase a refillable mug at any resort and refill it at all resorts but not the parks.:confused3

We also heard the CM's at 2 different resorts telling people about using the refillable mugs at all resorts.

This is the exact opposite of everything I've read on this board.

Well, this is great. I have been debating long and hard about purchasing them while we are at WDW this year, because I know we are at the parks and other resorts often. I just didn't know if it would be worth it for us.
So if this is the case then I will definately purchase them for our stay.

Thanks for the great info.:thumbsup2

I know someone mentioned on here the recordings appear to be very outdated. They mentioned a recording talking about Mission Space being the newest attraction at Epcot. How many years old is Mission Space? (Many)

I would certainly hope they get the information updated so they aren't confusing guests about things they can't do like pool hopping.

I could see the thing about the mugs since there is now a generic mug that says it is good for length of stay but doesn't mention the location.

The second item appears to be accurate, since they are getting rid of the resort-themed mugs in favor of a single 'generic' WDW mug.

The first item -- encouraging pool-hopping -- could incite some sort of a riot on these boards! That's a very hot topic!:beach:

I didn't hear any recording about Mission Space as the newest attraction. They were pushing the Comedy Laugh Floor and the Nemo Musical.

As to the pool info. maybe Disney has changed the policy on that. They are always changing things. This month they may tell you to pool hop and then next month they could change their mind.

WDW isn't what it used to be. Customer service and satisfaction is way below the standards they used to have. We always went every year but I think my money will be better spent elsewhere in the future.

I was told that disney now had a "year of a million dreams" mug they were using at all resorts this year!

i'm wondering if it was saying "sister resort" instead of different, encouraging POR guests to visit POFQ and use the pool? since that's "disney legal" :flower:

Are you sure the pool announcement wasn't specific to your resort?...because POR and POFQ have always had a reciprocal pool policy. But as far as I'm aware, they are the ONLY ones like that.:confused3

All Stars has the same policy.

if, for example, visitors to MK decided to go for a cool off dip in the CR or POLY pools since they are much closer and quicker than returning to their own resort for the afternoon break. Oh yes, all those deluxe monorail resorts' guests will welcome you with open arms.... ....I just can't imagine that Disney would be willing to open that can of worms.

I don't think so either.

Wow! I can understand the mugs but the pools??? I have always been told there is no pool hopping and that the only people who can use the pool are hotel guests. They even have signs to that effect.

Even if the message was an old one it still doesn't sound right about the pools.

Someone else mentioned the sister resort thing which could explain it. The buses give information based on where they are going, so it could be a POR/POFQ thing.

The policy in the 1970's was that you were encouraged to visit other resorts and that you could use the pool. As a child I often stayed at Fort Wilderness and it was definitely ok to use the pool at the Poly or the Contempory. Of course at that time, the ONLY resorts were, Fort Wilderness, Poly, and Contemporary. Anybody else remember this?

Well if they encourage visiting a sister resort that makes more sense. But to actually jump from resort to resort to use the pool? There are signs that say you can't do that so I'm surprised they would change that. What if there was an accident or an injury and your not a guest of that hotel?

I'm sure they haven't changed the policy.

I too remember (WAY back when :rotfl: ) pool hopping was allowed.
In the early 80's we went on the Grand Plan, the equivalent of today's Platinum plan, and pool hopping was one of the perks of that plan.
Ah the Good Ole Days.

I'm aware of the POR / POFQ sharing but we were on a bus going from CRT to MGM when we heard the annoucement.

I don't personally think pool hopping should be allowed, just reporting what I heard.

If you have an accident or incur an injury at any resort that resort is liable whether you are a guest or not.
