I know this sounds like a really ridiculous question but...

We were checking out the WDW menus and the ones we saw that list the soda fountain choices all have Minute Maid "Light" Lemonade. Does anyone know if they have switched all of the lemonade to "light" (with artificial sweeteners)?

I ask because my kids are a bit particular about their drinks. They only like lemonade and a few other drinks. Due to the heat, I will be pushing the liquids but it's tough to get them to drink plain water. If this is true, I might have to bring in drinks. Not what I want to be lugging around...

I couldn't tell you for sure. but due to the "health" kick currently going on at WDW I would not be all that surprised.

I dont know for sure if they are doing this......but I take those individual little pkts to add to 16 ounces of water ....so I like raspberry iced tea but with splenda.........I am sure if they dont have the lemonade that you like ......you could bring in those pkts and do indivual ones for drinks.....I also take those to the parks and when I get a bottle of water I add my diet raspberry iced tea to it......

I don't know the details, all I know is that on my last trip at TS restaurants I frequently ordered lemonade and loved it. I'm not a huge fan of lemonade but theirs was sweet and surprisingly yummy.

We just got back on 02/13 and all I saw was the light lemonade everywhere. I didnt try it since I can't stand artificial sweeteners. I do know that the frozen lemonades are regular lemonade and not light.... yet.

I too love those individual packets for flavoring my water:) Best thing since bottled water:) Plus, they don't take up much room:)

Back in October I sensed no rhyme or reason to it, some had light and others had regular. It seemed to me that Studios had almost all light, but MK was more spotty.

If you're sensitive to sweeteners then I would bring the flavor packets to put into bottled water.

I sincerely hope the lemonades have not all been switched to 'light' - I noticed that also on several of the menus - I do not like the taste of 'light' drinks & do not believe that they are healthy - I would be really annoyed about it.

It seemed to me the majority were light. I can't stand artificial sweetener, and neither can my kids. And they do not drink soda or tea at all. Our food court, (POFQ) had regular (sugared) fruit punch, and my dd would fill her mug with that. In the parks, we ended up taking our own bottle of regular lemonade for dd, and just getting a cup of ice when she wanted to drink it cold. When that ran ou, we just did water.

I've never seen any of those tiny flavored packets that did not have artificial sweeteners in them, even kool-aid's.

there is also an abundance of powerade to be found.

Personally, I like the light lemonade...I drink it here whenever we get "fast food".

I know a lot of people have issues with artificial sweetner, but it's a LOT more healthy than several tablespoons of refined white sugar every day...

I have to be careful of which lemonade I drink. I get severe headaches when I drink diet drinks with aspartame. The fountain at ASMu had the regular stuff. So I drank that. I just check the menu before ordering.

As a diabetic, I appreciate them adding a few more "light" options. And, Minute Maid's lite lemonade is my favorite diet drink. I wish a few more places would add it to their menus.

I prefer lemonade to soda and during our 8 day trip in December I asked at EVERY restaurant we ate at...and it was all only the "Light" version of the lemonade.

I've never liked the taste of any artificial sweeteners and have found out that a close family member is severely allergic to two of the most popular on the market.

I also don't think that they are all that healthy and would much prefer 2-3 spoonfuls of refined sugar to any artificial sweetener or high fructose corn syrup!

It's fine if WDW wants to offer "lite" versions of drinks...but offer the regular versions too!

It was only Light Lemonade for a refillable mug choice at our resort too. POR, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were all like this.

One of the things I drink most is lemonade and I saw that most places had the light throughout Disney, but I'm 99% there was one place I saw that still had regular, don't remember it though.Honestly I prefer the light,it's still plenty sweet.I used to drink the regular one when I was younger but lately I find it way too sweet!!

I believe that Minute Maid Light Lemonade is made with sucralose (Splenda).

Yes, I found confirmation of this on the Minute Maid site.

FILTERED WATER, FRUIT JUICES FROM CONCENTRATE (GRAPE, APPLE, PASSIONFRUIT AND MANGO), CITRIC ACID (CONTROLS TARTNESS), NATURAL FLAVOURS, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), POTASSIUM CITRATE, NATURAL COLOUR, SUCRALOSE, ACESULFAME-POTASSIUM. CONTAINS (PER 250 mL): 41 mg SUCRALOSE, 9 mg ACESULFAME-POTASSIUM.

I see it also has acesulfame-potassium, I checked wikipedia and do not see that the acesulfame is related to aspartame.

Splenda is still a sugar substitute - I do not like the taste - I hope they have enough regular lemonade also.

I didn't say it wasn't and am sorry if you interpreted that I was saying that in my post.

I quoted the particular post in my reply because that one poster has a reaction to aspartame. I know people who react to aspartame who do not react to Splenda/Sucralose. I further tried to investigate the second artificial sweetener a bit to see if it was related to aspartame to help that one poster.

In no way did I mean to step on your toes and imply that you and your family should try it, I was just trying to help one particular poster in this thread.

We look for the LIGHT lemonade, love it, and try to avoid most sodas since they are so high in caffine and sugar. My chubby little self saves her calories for popcorn and pretzels. Maybe your kids could get a fruit punch.
