My cousin and I are going to have a day to ourselves on our upcoming trip while the rest of our group goes elsewhere. I figured she'd be able to use her Magic Band, which is linked to her parent's credit card, as long as she knows their PIN. I realized recently that she is listed as a "child" on their resort reservation (she's 17). Does anyone know if it will be an issue to use the Magic Band as a payment method because of this? Figured I'd double check before we're on our own and I end up having to pay for her spa appointment, lol. Thanks!

ETA: My apologies if this isn't the board for this kind of question. Didn't really see anywhere I thought it would fit.

As long as she has charging privileges she can use it. It's not enough to just have a PIN. Her parents have to allow her to charge. They can do this on MDE or on check in at resort.

My daughter (age 12) used hers all the time when she was away from me with a friend's mother on our last trip. As long as she knew the pin, nobody said anything.

My son is able to use mine also. As long as it is linked it is allowed.

Thanks again, folks. I'll pass the tidbit about charging privileges onto her parents so they can make a note of it on their account.

Front desk can also set it up with charging allowed but a $0 limit - we did this so my 10yr could "pay" for meals on the dining plan & get snacks with the entitlements but not room charge (I've learned from my mom's mistakes...think I about doubled the price of a cruise once as a child - I don't fancy that sort of check out suprise, lol!)

My 11 year old has used her magic band to pay for meals and shopping without me standing with her at the register. Example, I or my husband would be in a different food line at the resort so we could still keep an eye on her but to the CM ringing her through she would appear to be "alone". We have done this on a few different trips and she has never had a problem.
