Does anyone know if the minnie marathon will effect crowds too bad? Since it's also a grad night weekend I'm worried about the crowds at open parks and DTD and if it will be nearly impossible to transport around Disney property at the time. I've looked up info on the other marathons and been advised not to go during those times but this is a new marathon so the number of people participating is unknown. Will it be just as bad as it is during other marathon times. Thanks for any help!

We did the 10K race in Oct 2004. The impact of runners was nothing like the marathon. Far fewer runners total. While the Minnie Marathon is new this year and could have a good number of runners, I seriously doubt if the numbers will meet or exceed the number of marathon runners - 15,000 on Sat and 15,000 on Sunday.

This is the first year for the minnie marathon so it is hard to say how it will effect crowds. More people may come because it is the first year. The races will be early enough that traffic shouldn't be effected too badly if at all. I would only expect 2500 runners to be allowed in the race which isn't alot when they are spread out. For comparison, Race for the Taste last October had ~1300.

Did I hear that this marathon is going to be in the Downtown Disney area? Would that affect the crowds at the parks?

Also my first time down during a race, booked out room a couple of months ago and was unaware of this event.

same here, we've actually had this booked for almost a year now lol I'm an obsessive planner. I knew about grad nights (may 5th and 6th) but didn't know about the marathon, kind of worried now. Not that I am against a marathon but if I had known about it in advance I would have changed my dates to avoid the crowds!

I also saw something about downtown disney and traffic being re-routed or something along those lines. Maybe someone has more details!
