Minne Marathon Team List

runningjusme - You may be able to get a shirt from eye2eye. The thread should be near the top.

Judy - Scott adn I missed our 10-miler fro the half last weekend and did fine. I was planning on trianing fro this lone like a half adn would do 10 this weekend then 8 then 5. However, if we do percentages like we do for teh full and half marathons, you would only need to get a 7-miler for your longest run. Seeing as you haven't doen one in a bit, I'd do 7 this weekend then maybe 6 than 5. We PR'd our half and never did more than 8 miles. You will be fine!

amykab - Uusually they have water adn watered down powerade at teh WDW races.

Hey everyone-

Just checking in again. I'm still on for the 15k, but can't decide on the 5k. I'd like to do it with DD (8), but I can't tell how serious she is. If she really wants to do it, I'd love to do it with her, but if she's going to be whiny, that's going to be a longgg 5k. (I'm also worried about being tired for the 15k- if we have a great time, I can deal with being tired...) For the record, the last couple of races we've done together she's been great, but no one was enforcing a time limit and we were probably doing about 17 minute miles.

Judy- just to make you feel better, my longest LR so far has been 6. I'm hoping to hit somewhere between 7-8 in the next couple of weekends. I haven't really been following a schedule, but my entire goal this time is just to get my medal.

My LR so far has been 6. I am also doing a Hal Higdon trianing but mine appears to be different from one someone else posted.

I have an easy week this weekend (I think it's 4) and 7 and 8 the next two weekends leading to Minnie. The 7 week has me worried. That weekend is PACKED and I am just not sure where the 7 mile run is going to fit LOL! (And when you go my speed that' takes a while!)

Hi Everyone,

Judy: My training is far behind where I'd like it to be. I was sick most of the winter then had a sore foot for a while so my longest run since January has been 5.4 miles. I hope 6 this weekend, 7 next and 8 the following. I won't really taper before Minnie. I figure I'll do eithere a speed work out or a tempo run each week then see how it goes. I won't have to worry about being over trained for this race.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Hey everyone!

I'm planning on 6-7 miles this weekend, have a 10K next weekend and trying to figure out what to do the weekend before the Minnie. Thinking no more than 7 for sure. Couple short runs the week before.

Getting so close!

I am following the same schedule as Carol A - (I think the one someone else posted is for intermediate and the one we are following is Hal Higon's novice 15k training)

I have been on this big river called Denial - and I have not been training like I should be. I have been slacking on my long runs and the furthest I have gone (since Oct and the TOT) has been 5 miles and that was REALLY slow on my TM. Last weekend I was supposed to do 6 miles but whimped out and only did 4.5, I am supposed to do 4 miles this weekend but I think I better do 5. Then the next 2 weeks its 7 miles the one and 8 miles the next. YIKES is this thing really only 3.5 weeks from now???

Yeah, that river runs right through my back yard.

That is why I finally admitted that I was probably NOT running all of this thing. On my long runs I am working out my "jog/walk" combo.

Last weekend I REALLY wanted to slack on the 6 miler, but I am starting to panic on the time so I made myself do it!!! It's next weekend that's the issue....

I am planning an 8 miler this weekend and 9 the next weekend. I will prob only do 5 the weekend before the race.

I am getting really excited!!

Hello all - Having just spent the last two weeks getting over the flu, my training program is all messed up. What kind of L/Rs do you have scheduled for the next few weeks? Just wondering what everyone else is doing. :confused3

I am doing a half marathon on Saturday :cool1: and then a 5k the following weekend before the Minnie :woohoo:

I hope they have plain water or watered down gatorade at the stations. I can't drink the straight gatorade while I am running/walking it makes me sick to my stomach!!

I have the same problem, so I grab one of each and mix on the fly :thumbsup2

If I am feeling really paranoid, I carry my own mix...Gotta do what works for you!

Here is my schedule that is left to do, its a modified half marathon training for walkers from the about.com website.

Sat=4miles
Sun=8miles, Tues=4miles, Thur=4miles, Sat=4miles
Sun=9.3miles, tues=4miles, thurs=4miles, sat=4miles
SUn=7miles, tues=4miles, thurs=4miles, may do like 2 miles fri and then comes the Minnie 15K on Sun!!

Its kind of funny that once I trained up by the book for my first ever Half at Disney, since then, I haven't been able to get all my prep runs in but I shaved 18 mins off my time at Disney less than a month later at the Mercedes on Feb 10. Then, my knees were angry and I rested more than I ran/walked. At the ING Georgia Half on Mar 30, I shaved another almost two minutes off for a new PR. After that experience, I decided not to worry too much about the Minnie. My goal is to do a couple of 10K's at least, more if my joints cooperate :lovestruc

I am so excited about my one and only Minnie race :yay: We are all going to have so much fun.:love:

Well, I had followed fairly faithfully a 5K/10K program for the 5K last month and the life took over for a bit and a couple of weeks got sucked into a pan-dimensional vortex. Oh well. I did a couple of shorter runs last week and then 6 something on the weekend. Speed work, such as it was yesterday. My upcoming long runs, my plan is to do a shorter, easy run (2 or 3) the day before since I'm doing the 5K on Saturday, and then Sunday 7.5, 8.5 and then....5 or 6 for the taper on the 27th. Speed work on Wednesdays and whatever other runs I can fit in on the other days. My goal is to run a bunch, have fun and get some medals. ::MinnieMo

Hey all you Minniers...
My Mom has decided to come along. She is a walker, but will not do the race either day, she is slow and would not be able to do a 15min mile. I think I will get her a Scream Team shirt. We are both going to be at All Start Sports.
If anyone at All star sports, music or movies would be willing to pick me up on the way over to either EPCOT or AK on SUN morning please let me know. I am dependable and would be ready for pickup whenever you say!!

Thanks!!

Updated!! :goodvibes

Looks like the decision has been made for the WISH meet. If we don't see you there, we'll see you at the start!!!

WISH MEET

PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE

FOOD COURT

SATURDAY 4:30

I thought it was going to be on Saturday??? Did this change?

We might not be able to make it on Friday.... :(

Is it too early to start asking about sharing a cab and time to meet at the lobby the morning of the 15k?

It's official-

I just signed up both me and Emma for the 5k. So now I'm doing the 5k and 15k. Just when you think you can control your medal desire, it sneaks up on you!
