I know Alamo and National are the same company, so how come Alamo does not seem to offer the 8-person Sienna?

I am coming up with a great rate at Alamo -- less than my current Emerald Reserve rate from National that I've had for months -- but I have to be able to transport 8 people including myself the driver, and from what I can see the Uplander only holds seven because of that tray table in the second row.

Anybody know what the chances are of getting a Sienna at the Alamo counter, if I book an Uplander 'or similar' and cancel my emerald reserve 8-passenger minivan ressie?

We booked an Uplander this past Spring Break through Alamo. Upon arrival, we went into the rental car parking garage and selected a minivan. I believe the keys were in there (plus we are *********** members and had prepaid). It was a Pontiac minivan (larger than the Uplander) and not what we had booked. We drove it out of the garage and presented our paperwork without a problem. Our rate before taxes and fees for 7 days was $99. It ended up at $132 after taxes/fees.

But, of course, there is no guarantee that you will end up with a choice.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Imelda. I joined quick****** but have not used it yet. So it works like Emerald Reserve - you go out and pick out your van?

Pontiac makes one van, the Montana SV6, its the same exact vehicle as a Chevrolet Uplander, Saturn Relay and Buick Terraza, all built in Doraville, GA....

I can tell you that you will not have enough room for all of your luggage and fit comfortably in an Uplander. We own a Sienna, but rented an Uplander this past December and found that there is more room for luggage storage in the Sienna because it has a well, whereas, the Uplander doesn't.
