Minimum days in Universal???

I am in need of some opinions. My wife and I are DVC members and enjoy the amenities that Disney has to offer. However, my 15 year old son feels that there are only a few attractions that are even close to the thrills that he seeks. We are contemplating the purchase of a pass for him and a friend but are unsure of the number of days to give him enough time in the park. Also, is the trasportation to and from the Disney resorts?

Just so you know, this is the Trip Report board and may get moved, but I will guide you.... First, depends on the time of year you are going. If you're going off peak, probably 2 or 3 days would be enough...only 1 day will probably not do it. There are 2 parks and a lot to cover. Also depends if they purchase an Express Pass Plus if it's crowded. Also, they would have to grab a ride on their own....no transportation provided. Taxi or Mears usually works.

that's okay...don't worry about it..... Just wanted to make you aware of it..... If you ask on the UO park boards, you'll get many more opinions, as the Trip Report board doesn't get much traffic!

Did someone move this thread from the trip board as this is the place she would ask this question It may be worth the extra $ to get a room onsite so you could enjoy FTOL for all rides. You get it on the check in and check out day -- so a single night would yield you two full days of FOTL.

Yep, at least 2 days, but if they are still doing the same thing as this past summer I think a 7 day pass is around $100 or so, it varies but I'm thinking this was what it was give or take back in July. 7 day pass they could come and go whenever, and you wouldn't necessarily have to do back to back days, as long as you didn't go over 7 days since the first use.

The 7 day pass is cheaper than a two day pass at $85.99.

I was there in August (peak time) with my teens and between US/IOA we spent 6 days there (and they weren't full days - we were there for 16 days so we had plenty of time). We stayed off site and didn't buy the Express Pass. We did get there for rope drop and the lines really weren't bad until early afternoon (around 1 pm). From 9-11 there really weren't any lines, from 11-12 the lines were about 20-30 minutes, from 12-1 they got to be 30-45 min. By 1 the lines for the popular rides were over an hour.

If you are planning to go during peak times I would plan for at least 3 days. My kids loved both US and IOA and they had plenty of time to ride everything once and their favorites several times. In fact, they had such a great time we're planning on going back sometime in 2008 and staying on-site for the FOTL perk.

Based on our experience, if you go during off-peak (for example January), get there at opening, do the major attractions only, you can do them both in a day. If you want to do most everything you could still do it in a day and a half. Two days tops. Again, that assumes off-peak times.

I suggest 2 days or maybe 3.

Last time we did 3 days, this time we're doing just 2.

there is no Disney transportation directly to Universal, but there are some shuttles and there is also a taxi possibility (from what I quoted at mears taxi website, it would be something like $22 from DTD to US).

I would suggest 3 in order to get the full USO experience.

One day per park and one extra day to go back and do the favourites again. Some of these rides are really addictive and you can do them multiple times in one day!

Personally, I feel you won't get the full experience if you feel you have to rush everything.
