Minimal resale contract size?

Does the 150 point minimal contract size apply to resale points also? If I decide to buy directly from DVC, is the new SSR the only resort that is available?

The 150 point minimum is for sales thru DVC directly. Resale contracts of any size are allowed. The smallest would be 25 points since that's the smallest contract sold thru Disney as an add-on.

SSR is the only resort being actively promoted by DVC. If you have you heart set on another resort, DVC can assist you, but at $89 per point thru DVC you can likely find a much better deal thru resale for the sold out resorts.

Thanks a lot for the information. So I can become DVC member for as little as 25 points? Not that I actually plan to do that But it is good to know the restrictions before I get started.

You have to already be a DVC member to get an add on through Disney for 25 points. It can't be your first purchase.

If you go resale, you can buy the lowest pointed contract that you find.

<font face="times" size="+0">Which could be, in theory, a 25pt contract. I have seen 1 resale that small before. Other than that 1 resale, most of the smallest resales seem to be around 50pts.
You do not have to be a DVC member already to buy a resale that small as your first/master contract.
You could even start by buying a 50pt resale, and then get on the add-on waitlist through DVC and add-on another 25pts. I know this has been done successfully before.</font>

Yes, we did it. Started with 50 pt resale and added-on 30. Of course we then bought another 200 pt contract. Small resale is a reasonable approach where you can rent points to fill out reservations (in your name).
