Mini-Van-- Pop up or hybrid?

OK.....true story..............
You can tow (a HTT 07 antigua 215SB) with a 05 Venture with factory trailer pkg........is the right thing to do....NO.....I have done this on short trips 2-3 hrs and the Van handled it well at about 90-100km's only driver and pass and very little in trailer (pretty much dry) again I would not recommend this to anyone. We have ressies to Fort next July 08 and we will have a new chevy avalanche as or TV

WD HITCH
SC
Tekonsha Brake

The Avalanche will pull that load a lot better than the Venture, that's for sure.

We have been tossing around the idea of buying a hybrid and selling our tt and our truck and getting something smaller because of the gas being as high as it is, it cost us a small mint to go anywhere and I don't forsee gas going back down .

I don't know what a Hybrid is..but we opped for a pop up.
I think it is about 2000 pounds and that gives us 1500 leeway for tongue weight and load. Plenty of room and I like it that way.

2500+ would scare me to death and I don't want a cheap camping adventure turn into an expensive engine repair.

Now we are hoping in the next 5 or so years to acquire a nice size family pickup that lets me tow more. But until then..our nice light pop-up will suit us just fine. (I want to get one of them snazzy pop-ups...but they weight too much for my mini-van)

Lisa Loves Pooh,

A hybrid is the type of trailer pictured in the signature above for ftwildernessguy.

It has beds like a pop-up but hard sides like a travel trailer.

Us pop-up owners still accept hybrids into "the family" since you still have nylon and/or canvas over your head when you sleep (the puxer's definition of "camping" <haha>).

Don't go over to the "dark side" and get a travel trailer, fifth wheel, or godforbid, an rv. We like hearing the FW birds all sing on queue in the morning!

I was out on the HWY yesterday in my area (401 toronto to london) and I saw some crazy rigs.........many combinations required a WDH and SC..it seems that people think because they have a large TV they can just pull anything with no set up..........the best set ups were some of the mini vans..I guess they want to make sure they are set up properly because most of us are at the limits or over
