Mini-skirts and blowing snow advisories?

I guess I am not quite the open minded person that I like to think I am.

Last week my mom and I were out shopping and stopped in the food court to grab a bite. We were in line when this girl walks by wearing a super short mini-skirt (bare legs too) that barely covered her bottom.
I normally would not even have given that a second thought except that it was 21 degrees out at that moment with a blowing snow advisory in effect. In other words, cold nasty weather.

Everyone else was bundled up in pants, boots, coats, etc. Needless to say she attracted quite a bit of attention walking through the food court. Guys stared, while girls pointed and either shook their heads or rolled their eyes. I'm not sure what makes someone wear that on a day like that? :confused3 Even just walking from the car to the mall you freeze! And trust me there was no front row parking.

If it was summer time and I saw a girl wearing a skirt that just about showed everything, I wouldn't care. She could even pair it with a Hooters tee for all I care. To each their own. But on a day like that, it was just such an obvious attempt for attention, which she got, some of it very negative too. I kinda felt sorry for her. And I guess I'm not as open minded, as I said, because this is one case where I felt she should have dressed more appropriately for the weather. Just a thought.

Is there any chance she works in the mall at an Abercrombie and Fitch or something like it, maybe she wore appropriate attire to work and changed.

If not, then she should move out here, we are having an 80 degree Christmas weekend, she would fit right in!

You must have been in my mall! Last Wednesday evening, I went to my usual hair salon for a cut (it is located in the mall). The girl who was the customer in front of me stood up and she had a mini-skirt on that just grazed the bottom of her butt cheeks. Of course when she walked I could see MOST of her "cheeks" and pretty much anything else I wanted to see. She did not have underwear on. She was about 16. I couldn't help it--I just stared and stared because I was so shocked.

:earseek: Okay no underwear? That's a bit too much to know about. Yuck.

This girls skirt wasn't quite that short thank goodness. And for me it wasn't really the length of the skirt as much as the fact that it was literally freezing out.
Maybe she did work in the mall and just changed there, but most of the girls that work in the fun, funky clothing shops wear the tight low-cut jeans when they work on days like that.

You just have to imagine in a mall full of shoppers dressed like Eskimos, she really stood out. It looked a little desperate, I have to say. I'm sure she was a nice girl and she had the figure to pull it off, but had it been my daughter I would have suggested she save the mini-skirt for Spring! JMO:)

In 80 degrees it would be fine. BTW, I am so jealous. I remember our last Christmas in Burbank (2 years ago) we went to the beach. I miss it. Have a great holiday out there!

Thank you for the Holiday wishes.

I often look at your location and I have no idea how you do it, I don't think my blood is thick enough to live anywhere else.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! I'll think warm thoughts for you.

Thisis OT sorry, but I just had to chime in with the displaced CA girls! I grew up just outside of Riverside in So CA and now am in MN. We are excited because it is supposed to be about 30degrees tomorrow. Excited.....how sad is that?

Have to say though that Christmas lights do look way more pretty with a blanket of snow!

Ok, I have to admit I often think the same thing. The other day I was at the grocery store. We had a foot of snow out (a few days old) and it was around 22 degrees. This women (who I admit if wasn't dressed this was was very plan looking). I just keep wondering "what were you thinking when you woke up and got dressed this moring?" Did you listen to the news at all? Are you aware of what state it is and time or year?

Of course I must admit I don't mind teens looking "hip", I am not so fond of them looking like bratz dolls (I had other words in mind, but for the Dis I will sensor myself.) ;)

That makes me cold just thinking about it! The only time I wear mini-skirts now is if we are going out clubbing, and even then I insist upon wearing tights and boots with them! (And a LONG coat to bundle up in on the way there!) It just seems like a mini-skirt worn like that would only attract attention of the wrong kind...
