Sorry, I don't have pics! I don't even like to read reviews without pics unless they are vegetarian related, so hopefully this will help someone.

DD5, DD9, and I are vegetarian, and DH is “non-veg” as we call him. Our trip was the week of Nov. 29th. We had breakfast in our room, so, except for Chef Mickey’s, there aren’t any breakfast reviews.

I noted on my online ADRs that we had vegetarians, but no one asked and I didn’t offer the info except where noted (Le Cellier, 1900 PF, and Tusker House).

Day 1
Rosie’s at DHS – Veggie burger. I’ve read about the change of burger, and I wasn’t a fan of this veggie burger. In the past, they were more burger-like. These are more veggie-like (you could see the broccoli and red pepper in the burger). Sometimes I like these, sometimes I don’t. I didn’t like this one. DD5 had mac and cheese, and DD9 had pizza from the place next door, Catalina Eddie’s.

Day 2
Biergarten – Lunch. There are a lot of choices here - salads, bread, spaetzle, potatoes, carrots. It was good, and the service was great. This was our second time, and I would definitely go back. One assumes that there is just meat at a German restaurant, but this place will surprise you.

Day 3
Chef Mickey's – Breakfast buffet. There are lots of vegetarian choices here. I know that everyone likes the vegetarian lasagna, but, while it has a good taste, it has too much cheese for me! The food wasn’t great, but the service and characters are. I compare this place to 1900 PF a day later, and I really like CM better. It doesn’t feel so chaotic.

Columbia Harbour House
I had the Lighthouse Sandwich, which I love. I’ve had it once before, and it is still good. The bread was a little dry and the broccoli slaw was a little sweet, but I still like this.

Day 4
Pinocchio’s - Cheese pizza and a salad. I absolutely love pizza. I prefer really good pizza, but I don’t mind average. I’d eat pizza for every meal. I liked that this came with a salad, and there were a number of dressing choices, including a low cal option.

1900 PF
There were some veggie options. I asked about some of the Asian options – did they have meat? One of them was made with a fish sauce, but the soy bean option was very good. It had a great flavor. The chef (or a chef, whoever was behind the counter) also offered (without asking) that one of the soups was vegan (tomato basil soup that was not tasty) and he could sauté some veggies for me if I liked. I wasn’t a fan of this place in general (besides the characters), but I felt like there were some good veg options and the willingness to accommodate me.

Day 5
Tusker House – Lunch.
This was my absolute favorite place. I don’t usually stuff myself at buffets, but I did here. There were so many veg choices, and I couldn’t get enough of the good stuff. Everything was very flavorful, not bland. I asked about the samosas, and they are veg. I also asked about the mashed potatoes (DD kept seeing potato skins and thought that it was bacon). I wasn’t offered info. DD5 liked the build-your-own-PBJ and mac and cheese. DD9 is more adventurous – she tried the hummus, chutneys (one was like a dessert with the dried fruit and nuts), roasted potatoes, and some of the pilafs.

After Tusker House, I didn’t need dinner!

Day 6
ABC Commissary – Asian salad. So, first of all, why can’t they have some frozen veggie burgers when they offer regular burgers? How difficult is it to keep some frozen veggie burgers in the freezer and throw them in the microwave? But I digress…I had the Asian salad because it was the only option, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very good. I’m not sure if they omitted the chicken or if it doesn’t come with chicken – ask to be sure. The CM offered the Asian salad as an option when I asked if they had a veggie burger. There isn’t a veg option for kids, so I asked for cheeseburgers minus the meat. They didn’t do this (I told the CM, but it wasn’t noted on the receipt), so I sent it back and it was quickly corrected.

Yachtsman Steakhouse
I had the Potato and Leek Ravioli. It wasn’t bad. It was on top of a red pepper puree, which was kind of an odd combination. The service was bad – very rushed. I wouldn’t go here again – DH didn’t like his steak, either (esp. compared to Le Cellier on the following night). It was not worth 2 TS credits even with the free dining. I do have to say that the kids’ puzzle dessert was great. In addition to the white chocolate Mickey puzzle, brownie, and mini cupcake, there were edible frosting paints that give your kids something to do after a long meal! DD5 was restless, but once she started painting her white chocolate puzzle, she was fine! I also liked that DH could get the cheese plate as his dessert on the DDP. DH is not a dessert fan (DDs and I usually order his and eat his), so it was nice for him to enjoy the cheese plate.

Day 7
Sunshine Seasons
This place was a bit frustrating. They wouldn’t let me have a plate from the Asian station substituting tofu for the meat. They have tofu for a tofu soup dish (I didn’t want soup), so there is a huge bowl of tofu sitting right there! The woman kind of laughed when I asked if I could sub with tofu. So, I had a veggie wrap sandwich – it was good, but a little dry.

DD9 was frustrated with the pre-packaged kids’ meals. She wanted the PBJ and grapes, but not the apple juice and carrots. I don’t know why they don’t have everything just mix and match. At this point, she was just pretty frustrated with the kids’ meals in general. I am kind of surprised because I always thought that 9 years old was too young for the top end of kids’ meals – it seems to be 12 many places. She’ll be 10 in a couple of months, and she was sick of the kids’ meals. I imagine that it depends on the kid, because I think that DD5 will be happy with a kids’ meal when she is 9. DD9 has always been more adventurous with food.

Le Cellier
This was our third trip to Le Cellier, and even with a different veg entrée every time and a new chef this time, my entrée was great. This time, it was potato gnocchi, and it was delicious. They made grilled cheese for DDs with their Canadian cheddar and a brioche bread. It was good, too. I love this place – the cast members are so accommodating. If this is how Canadians are, I need to visit Canada. In the summer.

Day 8
Pizzafari at AK – Here we go with the pizza again. It seemed the same as Pinocchio’s, but I liked it. DD5 had mac and cheese, and I pieced together a meal for DD9 with my “fruit parfait” dessert, grapes, and a piece of pizza. She didn’t want pizza, but she was still hungry.

In general, I think that the worst park for CS veg options DHS. It just seemed like there would be a veg option on the adult menu for me and no kid veg option or vice versa. I don’t want to go to 2 CS places to feed my small family of four. We were at a place in the back, Studio Catering Company, and I thought that I was going to get the chicken Caesar wrap minus the chicken. I think that there were two veg options for kids (mac and cheese and PBJ). We didn't stay here because it is outdoor seating and the weather was rainy and cold, but it is just another place with the same problem.

AK isn’t much better, but there just aren’t a lot of CS restaurants at AK. Why don’t they have veg options at Yak and Yeti CS? That doesn’t make any sense. And DH tried to get veg eggrolls at one of the kiosks, but they were “out”.

Buffets and TS restaurants are great with veg. There are so many veg options at the buffets. And at the non-buffet TS restaurants, while there aren’t many options, they will accommodate you if you ask.

I hope that my review help at least one vegetarian!

Thanks for the reviews! My DDs (2 & 6) and I are pescetarian but primarily eat veg, especially my DDs. It's pretty difficult to find food for my daughters to eat, especially since DD6 won't eat peanut butter (I don't really want them eating those "PBJ Sandwiches" anyway). There's only so much Mac 'n Cheese anybody can eat!
This is one of the reasons we are glad we don't do the dining plan, we stay offsite anyway, because it really gives me more options for the girls. I can get them an adult option and have them split it or just get them an adult appetizer and they're fine with it. I love being able to see the menus on AllEars etc because I've chosen our ADRs primarily because of the kids menus. Flying Fish and The Plaza offering interesting veg choices for kids.
I'm really glad to know that Le Cellier made grilled cheese for your girls. I'm thinking that I'll get them a Caesar salad to share (they love salad and I don't mind the anchovies in the dressing) but I didn't know what else to get them.

Thanks for the great reviews.
I eat fish but not meat and mainly only eat vegetarian options. I hear that the Tangerine Cafe in Epcot is good for veggie options too :thumbsup2

Thanks for taking the time to post your reviews :)

Thanks for the review!

You are welcome!

I agree - if your veg kids don't eat PBJ (and it isn't the healthiest PBJ), it can be difficult. DD5 loves mac and cheese, but DD9 isn't crazy about it. That is kind of what we ran into with DD9. Splitting an adult meal or appetizer gives you more options. I think that we will be doing that on our next trip.

Actually, I don't think that we will do the DDP again (unless it is free again!) because of the lack of choices and because DD9 will be an "adult" vegetarian next time. I don't think that we won't come out ahead most likely (I crunch the numbers with our TS choices). And I am looking forward to splitting some stuff with her. She loved the potato gnocchi that I had at Le Cellier, and there was too much for me to eat all of it.

ETA: You should really check out Tusker House - green salads, couscous salads, rice, so much veg stuff. And lunch is relatively inexpensive. And although there is a kid-sized buffet with the usual suspects, the kids can eat anything buffet. It is ethnic food - so if you aren't crazy about ethnic food, I'd skip it. However, from your description, it sounds like you would like it.

Thanks for the great reviews.

There is a good veg platter there! I had it last time, but we didn't spend as much time in Epcot this trip. And I think that we had the same problem at Tangerine Cafe as at many of the CS places in DHS - there is an adult veg meal there, but no kids' veg meal. I would like to be able to feed everyone at one or maybe two places!

I absolutely agree! I can't wait to try Tusker House for lunch. We had breakfast there last February and really enjoyed it. We're skipping AK this year (it's our least favorite park, even as huge animal lovers) and going to Universal. BUT when we go back I'm definitely planning on going there! We had dinner at Boma last trip too and I really liked it. My DH and Mom not so much, so I might have to go solo there sometime to go again! I love ethnic food! My DH is learning to.

Thank you!!! We are also a family where mom (me) and the kids are veg and dad is not. Both of my kids are also allergic to eggs, so that makes it extra interesting for us (the CS Mac and Cheese has egg in it...so there goes our one option in about half the CS locations).

There are a fair amount of reviews around here where one family member is a veg, but I really appreciated hearing about your experience with adult and child vegetarians.

With so many vegetarian people in the world now, it seems very odd that they do not have more options available.

Thanks for the review. Appreciated your perspective since we're also a vegetarian family. The limited options on children's menu is the only reason I don't go for the dining plan. I wish they were more accomodating about substitutions.
