Still here but since I'm waiting to check in for our flight I thought I'd give a little review of the places we dined over the last week. There were some surprises and one big disappointment. Here goes....
Riverside Mill food court at POR - I would rate this an A. Huge surprise here, the food was very good, especially the create your own pasta and salad stations. Desserts were also very good, love the magic cookie bar
. We didn't have anything that was not good here.
Be Our Guest lunch - B for food/A+ for atmosphere. We scored a fast pass for this restaurant. DH and DS had the roast beef sandwich, I had the turkey sandwich. It came with French fries. This restaurant is beautiful and the staff was great. We ate in the main room, gorgeous with the snow falling outside of the windows. The food was ok, I had the strawberry cupcake which was delicious! I'm glad we were able to eat here, but I would not wait an hour to get in. They were passing out umbrellas to those waiting in line in the sun, thought that was a nice touch.
Raglan Road - B. This was a fun restaurant although we did not have very good seats. We were a group of 7 and were early for our ADR so we took the first available seats. Our waitress was great though. DS and I split a NY strip special and DH had the shrimp app and the portabella beauty. Not sure if DH read wrong or it was not clear but the shrimp app was LOADED with crushed red pepper and DH does not like spicy food. Also, for his entree, he thought he was getting a stuffed portabella mushroom but this was a sandwich. I ended up eating his shrimp which was awesome, he did not like his sandwich. Our steak was ok but for $32 I could get a better steak elsewhere. Other family members had the butternut squash risotto and loved it. I would come back here again and try something else and request seats near the entertainment.
Via Napoli - apps A+/pizza D. I was so excited to eat here, I LOVE pizza especially with fresh mozzarella. Again they seated us early which was nice. I had the red sangria, delicious, and they gave me a disposable cup to take the rest with me. For an app, we had the calamari. This was perfect, lightly breaded and not greasy or chewy. The sauce was excellent. Someone else in our group chose the aracini and loved that as well. We all ordered pizza. I'm sorry but this was so gross. The crust was basically raw and soggy. There were the burnt spots typical with pizza cooked in a wood fired oven so I guess it was cooked but it just was not good and I have had really good pizza before. No one in our group was pleased with their pizza. Because we liked the sauce so much, we would come back to try the regular menu. This was the restaurant that disappointed us the most.
Tusker House breakfast - B+. This was a nice character breakfast, you can't really mess up breakfast foods. Everything was hot and fresh. We had Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey for characters, the kids loved it.
The Earl of Sandwich - A+. Awesome sandwiches. DS and I split the original and the holiday turkey. DH had the pastrami Reuben. We all loved our meal. Can't beat the price here either!
And the biggest surprise of the week, 50's Prime Time Cafe - A++. This meal was so good! Our server was a hoot! DH had the sampler and DS/I had the fried chicken. We all loved our meals. DS and I also split Dad's Brownie Sundae. Someone in our group tried the PB&J shake and enjoyed it but said the apple crisp was just ok. We were all glad we tried this restaurant and loved how everyone stayed in character. DS had to set the table. Someone at another table got in trouble and had to stand against the wall while we all told him to 'stop being a brat!' Too funny! I almost got in trouble for tattling, oops!
We cancelled our ADR for 'Ohana tonight and I'm glad, DH is the only one who loves 'Ohana. We do still have an ADR for the Trail's End Buffet but may cancel that one too and just eat at the food court or in Epcot. I have noticed lots of good last minute ADRs available and it seemed like walk ups were being seated in every restaurant we went to. Sorry, no pics.
