Mini DV tapes in bulk

Does anyone have any experience with online ordering of mini DV tapes? I have found several places that are much cheaper than buying them at our local retailers, but I need advice from the experts on which online companies are reliable.

Be careful where you buy your tapes from and make sure the brand of tapes are of high quality. A few years ago TDK had a bad batch of tapes go out on the market that caused manjor head clogs on certain brands of DV camcorders. A head clog occurs when particles of dirt get stuck on your recording heads. The result is that you will see glitches or lines in your play back. It can be repaired BUT it is very expensive to do.

The issue was too much or too little lubricant was put into the tape during the manufacturing process. This lubricant came off and clogged recording heads.

Sony, Maxell, JVC are generally the better known brands.

Thanks for the advice - I have used Maxell and Sony so those are probably the ones I will stick with. Do you have any recommendations for where to purchase in bulk?

I have never had a problem. I have used Sony and Panasonic..apples to apples comparison. Usually by 20 at a time. Check the resellers rating if possible.
