My parents want to take us on a weekend camping trip one week b4 we leave for Disney! This is very nice of them and they really want the kids to go but I dont know...its kinda close to our disney trip. What do you all think? They would pay for the camping trip so its not the money thing its just we never went capming and I dont know how my kids will react. The first time I went camping I came home with a UTI! I was really sick and I dont want to risk getting sick for disney or being too exhausted for disney.

The week before our Disney trip last August, we went up North for a week of cottaging etc. It was not as exhausting as camping might be (although picture DH and I, our 3 kids, and my parents crammed into a cottage the size of two value rooms, only without the extra bathroom! Plus it wasn't all vacationing, we did a ton of work tearing down two old buildings on my parent's property, maybe it was maybe more exhausting than camping!) It was a bit much, just in terms of the laundry and unpacking factor. Had to totally unpack from the cottage, wash all summer things, and then re-pack for Disney. To top it all off, it was the two very last weeks of summer, and we were coming back from Disney at midnight on the Monday night before the kids went back to school. It was all a bit too hectic for me. This year no trips the week before Disney (I actually booked in to work, which is more relaxing than going to the cottage anyway!), and we are coming back on the Saturday night, so we will have a bit more time to get settled before school starts. That said, we have lots of other opportunities to go to the cottage, and if this is the only opportunity you will have in the summer to do the camping, AND your parents are paying, that may make it worth a bit of added stress.

yea I guess u r right. My parents really want us to go plus my whole family is going so it will be really fun to see all my aunts, cousins etc. We would go campimg friday night, sat and come home sunday. So its not that long of a trip. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for your input.

I'd do it, but then again, I love to camp. Will you be staying in a tent or in a camper? That might make a difference in how much rest you get. Perhaps you could pack your bags for Disney before your camping trip.So that when you get back from the camping trip you don't have to pack.

we r staying in a tent. The last time i went camping I came back with a UTI! Thats why I am discouraged a little, but I bet it was just a freak thing that had nothing to do with camping. We would return home from camping on a Sunday evening and I wouldnt leave for Disney until the next Sunday.
