So I take everything a CM says with a grain of salt like many other people here on the Dis when it comes to things like this. However, I do pass on information when I hear it if it sounds plausible.

I was picking up my pre-ordered copy of Frozen today at my Disney Store here in Memphis (like so many other people). As each customer checked out while I was there, they asked the customer if they had a trip planned soon. To those that said yes, they told each one that soft openings from 7DMT will begin on April 1st. They also stuck with the official opening on May 2nd.

Believe it...don't believe it. It's up to you. I just thought that it was something that those going around that time can start looking for.

Time will tell.

April 1 is as good a guess as any right now.:)

Judging by the recent photo this week of the work still needing to be done at load/unload,I can't see SOs beginning any earlier than April 1.:)

That's my thinking too. With a situation where everyone is searching for info and there is none to be had, any bit can help.

I have every single finger and toe crossed that this is true. Will be at MK for my birthday on April 7 and the only present I want is to ride on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!! Especially since my beloved BTMR is scheduled to be down for maintenance!

I'm glad dates are being floated out there. Of course we will be there March 28 so it doesn't help us.

April 30th a media event is planned and the Dis Team will be there to cover it.
May 2nd is supposed to be the grand opening they are supposedly having a ceremony at 10:15am.
My guess is soft openings will be early april but I'm not so sure it will be exactly april 1st maybe the week after but it will be around there.

Going to be there last week of May. Holding out hope they are up and running. More concerned about the new Harry Potter area at Universal.

with the media event and opening ceremony it will be open at the end of May

Going by the Anna and Elsa FP+, maybe they mean April 1st as the day FP+ are available for 7DMT?

Excellent rumored news.

My family is visiting the first week of April into second week.

Since Big Thunder Mountain will be closed briefly for maintenance three of our vacation days, 7-Dwarfs will make a pleasant substitution on our MK days.

April 1st......April fools !!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

You laugh now, but I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one thread started on April 1st getting everyone excited about this ;)

How would this ride compare to BTMR? We are spending a day at MK in July with a family who have a completely opposite touring style to us, love the rides we don't care about and vice versa ..... and they won't do BTMR because they categorize it as a rollercoaster and they don't do coasters apparently. However I was interested to see that they have listed 7DMT as a must-do. I don't want them to be ill informed, but they seem to dislike anything including (but not limited to) going fast, sudden drops etc. I was surprised because they have been following every update they can find on youtube so they are probably better informed than me as I've just left it as a definite something we will do on the trip because we haven't done it before.

Thoughts?

That seems very bizarre to me that Disney would have such a short training period and soft opening time frame for a roller coaster??? SDMT seems a far more complicated ride than Little Mermaid, which had earlier training and soft openings for over a month?

I was thinking the same thing but what do I know? :confused3 Still hoping for something earlier!
