Mine Train FP+ Availability

I'm finalizing plans for our trip in three weeks, and that includes adjusting FPs for ADR plans. Unfortunately, the only Mine Train FPs available now conflict with the ADRs that I've been trying to get, and it's our only opportunity to ride together. What I have currently is a FP for 5:30p, what I need is something earlier in the day.

Can anyone with experience provide some insight on how hopeful I should be that I might be able to change it? We are a party of four.

I'm wondering:
- have people had success with FP windows reopening (like ADRs do) this close to our trip?
- what has been day-of availability been like?
- can you book FPs from the app the day of or does it have to be from the kiosk?

Thanks in advance!

We were there last week and visited MK 3 times. There were no 7DMT FP+s day of. I guess there is always a chance but I would say it is very very slim. We were in line right after RD behind a family and I heard the dad talking about how he was unable to get a FP+ for his family of 4 for the whole week they were visiting. One of the days DH was at a kiosk at about 9:45 and heard a CM tell a lady that there was no FP+ for 7DMT and that most of them were taken at 60 to 30 days before. She let him know that she thought that was crazy and she wasn't very happy about. I would think it might be easier to change your ADR. Remember that you can use your FP+ 5 minutes early and 15 minutes late. Sorry I don't sound too positive! Good luck!!

Thanks for your replies, guys...I was afraid of that day of scenario, and that makes me sad for people who don't even realize it.

Unfortunately for us, because we have limited time together, the ADRs couldn't be changed, we won't be there as a group for rope drop, and I can't imagine my mother waiting in a three hour line.

FORTUNATELY for us, when I checked this morning, a single FP+ window of 12:00p-1:00p had opened up! pixiedust:

Not sure how we got so lucky, but very glad we did!

If you make it until closing, right before everything closes up is a great time to get in line. We were there on Saturday night with a 11 closing. Got in line at 10:40 to 10:45 and it said there was a 65 minute wait. We waited closer to 30 minutes. We also rode at rope drop. Got to the park around 8 the same morning. Followed the crowd to 7DMT and rode in 15 minutes. When we got off, the wait was 90 minutes.

There's always standby.

Exactly. All the hand wringing over fastpasses is ridiculous. Some rides and attractions are extremely popular and there is no possible way to let everyone ride without a wait.

It's summertime at Disneyworld. You will encounter a few long lines.
