Staying at the HoJo's again and was thinking of actually trying Mimi's Cafe this time around.

The menu looks good and I really like that you can order online and arrange for pick up.

I was hoping to get some reviews and I'm not sure if I've posted this in the correct spot? Is it good? Or just a more expensive version of Denny's?

I like Mimi's, good food, not cheap but not overly pricey and much nicer than a Denny's. I haven't eaten at the one by HoJo's since we have them here in AZ. I would personally recommend one of the on-site restaurants but if you are by the hotel and don't want to have to go all the way into the park to eat it I think you would enjoy it.

Their food is good for the most part. Just avoid their salmon (they so overcooked my salmon in Oct, I felt like cremating the poor thing and give it a proper send off). They are alot better than Denny's. Their muffins and carrot bread that come with meals is outstanding. Used take out 2 years ago with good sucess. it's kind of funny in that when I went in Oct solo I ended up going takeout at Millies some nights when I didn't feel like TS, and getting their soup, salad and cornbread deal. It was huge, couldn't finish it all, and ended having the cornbread for brekki the next morning. The family like MIMI's, but I also now have some respect for Millies as well. Hope that this helps you out. MIMI"s has alot more vegetarian options than Denny's, which is something to keep in mind if you are vegetarian.

We had friends come to CA for 2 weeks, stayed in San Fran and Orange county and their favorite place to eat was Mimi's! We went for dinner and really really enjoyed it. Large portions and I think of it as "comfort food". Something for everyone to eat. I've eaten there for breakfast, too, and that was good, but I prefer dinner.

Here's a little mini-review from my Trip Report:

Back to HOJO we go. Everyone bathes and then we head to Mimi's for dinner. Might as well put in my Mimi's Review here:

We did take-out 2 or 3 times, and ate inside once. The food was really good. I especially enjoyed the Greek Chicken Salad, and planned to pick one up on the way out of town, but forgot. The downside...the first time we did take-out, and DH picked it up, he had to return 2 or 3 times to get stuff they forgot. They forgot to put in the dirt pudding cups that come with all the kid meals. Once when I stopped by after DL on the way to HOJO they forgot these as well. Back to the first night, they also forgot to put in a Caesar Salad. When DH went back, they noticed they didn't have it on the order. (I heard him order it.) They ended up giving it to him for free. But after that first night, DH wasn't interested in going back. I liked the food, though, and so did the kids. The kids meals are around $4.69 and filled them up. So, if you do take-out, make sure you check for everything. The night that I was in I had to ask for about 3 things they didn't put in as well. Good food, though.

We have a Mimi's near our home and have been to the one in Anaheim. It is one of our family's favorite places to eat. My very picky older son loves their chicken fingers and my younger son loves the grilled cheese. They have a good variety of salads, soups and sandwiches. Since we've been watching our calories lately, we like that Mimi's has a light and fit menu. We can get a decent dinner and quickly figure out the nutritional info. We always walk down to the Mimi's near DL and are happy to spot one when we are out of town. We know the food is good and that everyone will find something they will eat.

Ou family LOVES Mimi's, we eat there when we are at DL, we eat there when we aren't. :) We have one close to home and we are there every couple of months. Since we don't go out to eat so much anymore that's actually quite regular for us right now. :) We've never really had any issues with service, food is always amazing and there is always plenty. We don't do take out, we always dine in but it seems like you should check your orders carefully before leaving the restaurant if you do chose to do take out. :) If you don't finish your meal Mimi's will happily give you a box for leftovers, and yes, you can get the bread/muffins to go as well. In fact, I regularly get emails from Mimi's giving me free muffins with a purchase and you can get a free bfast coupon for joining the eclub if you're not a member. Just make sure you join about a week before your trip, the coupon will only be good for 2 weeks.

I saw the coupon on their website, but thanks for the tip on it expiring in 2 weeks!:thumbsup2

DH is such a picky eater, more so then DS- so finding a place he will like can be a real challenge and he HATES Denny's, so the last thing I wanted was to end up someplace exactly like it!

We love Mimi's for breakfast (I always have a coupon, don't know if I would pay full price) not so much for dinner though. The muffins are amazing!

Like others, we have a Mimi's Cafe near us. It is one of the few restaurants all 4 of us will eat at -even my super picky older son. The food is American comfort food with a bit of a Southern/New Orleans twist. I have not yet tried the one near HoJos, but plan to this visit. We find the food quallity high, the portions sizeable, and the prices reasonable. Hopefully, this Mimi's will be similar to the one at home.

Have not eater at that one but the one's I have are good. Lots to choose from sevice has been nice too.

We have only eaten at the one near us. But have no complaints at all. I do not think their prices are that bad either. Really up to par with IHOP, and much better in taste and freshness.

Our family loves to eat at Mimi's when we are in Anaheim. We regularly stay at HoJo, too so it is convenient. Their entrees are big - and if DH and I are feeling in the mood for the same thing - we share. They will split the plate for free and even though the plate is HUGE and the portion seems small on the HUGE plate - it really is enough food. If DH still wants to eat something else after sharing a meal he orders dessert!

They have enough of a selection that our kids enjoy it, too. DS 14 likes that he can sometimes order breakfast things for dinner.

We like their breakfast, too. I've had the asparagus omelette and it was very good. Who knew asparagus would be such a hit for breakfast! DH got something else the morning I got the omelette and he liked mine better. We like the variety and the service has always been really good in Anaheim when we've been there and we find it to be pretty reasonably priced. We use the breakfast coupon and will use it again if we can!

...but a couple times we had walked back from the park during the supper hour and the wiat for a teble was going to be at least an hour. Not sure if they take reservations that might have helped to call ahead from the park.

Most things we have had at Mimi's have been good.......... except the corn chowder - blech  It was like watered down canned creamed corn. Not good at all. But everything else has been pretty good. If you get take-out, you also get the bread basket that you would get if you ate there, so it's good to save for breakfast the next day :thumbsup2

We loved this place and keep talkin about goin back....I don't know about it being expensive. Any place you can get three kids meals, 2 adult meals and 2 margaritas for 50 bucks you are doin good.

Mimi's is so far off from Denny's. Mimi's is head and shoulders above Denny's, IHOP anything like that! :) Our girls are picky and when they were younger they were much pickier, we've never had any problems finding them something great to eat at Mimi's. :) In fact, they've both requested Mimi's many times when we ask what they feel like for dinner. :) Menu is varied and everything I've tried I've enjoyed very much.

The Mimi's in Anaheim is exactly like the Mimi's by our house. :) We are 6 hours from DL so I'm sure the Mimi's in Anaheim with be very similar to the one near you. :) I love your description, American comfort food with a NO twist. :) Fits perfectly!

Really? Your corn chowder was bad? DBF LOVES The corn chowder at Mimi's, he says it's very similar to the Corn Chowder at Storyteller's, he orders it every single time we go. :) I love the French Onion Soup at Mimi's myself, it's very good!!

I can quite honestly say ive never had a bad meal at Mimi's its like a staple when im staying at HoJos.

We do take out atleast 2 times and eat in a couple of times and even 1 night when we stayed in Nov 10 we got a 3 course meal for 12.99 BARGAIN!!! and we took the dessert back to our room for later...

One night on takeout we had salads and kept the muffins for breakfast the next day!

I miss Mimi's food when i am not in Anaheim.... i wish we had it here in Australia

We like Mimi's we have one down the street, but we have also been to the one by the hojos. It is good and decently priced for across the street. The best part is their portions are huge, so you can easily share or split meals to save money.
