Millionaire hot seat?

I made it last month, I was the second person that day, and made it to the 32,000 point question.

I fully intend to go get that cruise one day!

3 times in the hot seat for me...first time made it to 32,000; second time made it only to 8,000 (got an impossible question about some song called "Mr. Bojangles" which I've never heard lol), and just last week, made it to 64,000.

I've made it into the Hot Seat twice, about three years apart. The second time, I planned to devote an entire day to WWTBAM-PI! if I had to :)
By the third show, the entire crew recognized me and asked if I was spending the day there.

Anyway, both times I made it to 32,000 points. My first loss was something to do with Ralph Nader's book - this was in January 2001; my second was "What's the name of the dog in the Old Navy commercials?" Well, I didn't know there was a dog in those ads (but it turned out to be the same as one of the Disney ships, if anybody gets the same question again :)

The first 2 times I made it to the hot seat I was the 2nd person of the show, I got there by answering the questions of the person in the hot seat before me the quickest. When the show is filled, your best bet during the Fastest Finger is just to randomly press 4 letters (I usually do CBAD) and hope to get it right...the top fastest finger is usually under 1 second anyways so there's no time to try and figure out the right answer..

That same day, in an earlier show, a young kid, maybe seven or so, was the first one in the Hot Seat after a Bible-related Fastest Finger question*, something like "Put these books of the Bible in order..." Well, the kid answered correctly in LESS THAN A SECOND!!!! And his mother claims he KNEW the answers, NOT that he just pressed buttons :rolleyes

Oh yeah, to answer the original poster's original question: To fill the Hot Seat at the beginning of a game, the host asks a standard Fastest Finger question. Everybody in the theater, NOT just the ten Guests in the FF seats, plays - and whoever out of ALL those people answers correctly in the shortest amount of time gets up in the Hot Seat! There's no age limit - I think they tell you the youngest contestant they've had was two or three (nine and unter CAN be helped by a parent if they want). After every plateau (1,000 and 32,000 and I guess 1,000,000 points) as well as when the contestant loses, wins or quits, the standings of the top ten player are displayed on screens around the room. The scores are determined by a combination of correct answers and speed. If at any of these points they need a new player for the Hot Seat, whichever Guest's seat number is displayed in the top position gets to fill the seat!

crcormier,

my guess is: B. Maximillain Schell

What's the answer????

Well Hightown, you would've won the trip to NY. It was Maxmillian Schell.

I didn't realize that he was the actor in Black Hole and 20,000 Leagues. Had I realized that, he would've been my guess. I picked Richard Harris.

*sigh*

The cruise is a much better prize now. I gotta figure out how we're getting in there.

During the first year of the attraction, it was possible to have a hold-over from the previous show time come in to complete his or her run to a million points. The grand prize was a trip to NYC to meet Regis.

It is still possible to be a carryover. It has happened to me twice, though I don't like carrying over because I lose my momentum. I've made it through at least 32K on every trip except for one of the two carryover runs when I missed at 32K. I missed on the other carryover run at 64K.

I've been there twice.

Don't remember the point values (was less than 125k) but the question's I dropped were:

What is the meaning of the word "Fugacious"?

and

What was the middle name of Curly of "The Three Stooges fame"?

Did not know either of them, but now I will never forget.
