Military vs AP discounts

Good Afternoon Everyone,

For those that are familiar/experience with both AP and military discounts...has someone ever found that they couldn't get a room with the military discount but was able to do so with the AP?

Long story short...we are going to the World this September and again in 2019 so I am considering upgrading our existing military salute tickets to APs this trip. Right now based on the information I have, it is pretty close in cost (estimated) for doing military discounted room and tickets vs military discounted room and AP so I am trying to decide what other big perks would the AP provide to make the decision a little more clear. We normally do the deluxe dining plan so the additional dining discount would likely be nominal if anything for us and we normally fly vs drive so will likely not use the parking pass.

I know the BB would be another option for us but in doing the numbers the military or AP room only discounts are likely to far surpass the BB discounts so we likely won't go that route anyway.

we priced out several trips, and even with the AP, we found for the two trips we would take in a year, the MIL tickets are still cheaper and the room discounts are MUCH better than AP

Thanks. I noticed this year their military discount inventory is much less than years passed. I hope they aren’t doing away with it. It really is a fabulous way for my family to be able to afford Disney.

The mil rates are much better and you can book them way out in advance. Once they announce a new offer period, I often book a December trip about 15 months out into the future. Can't do that with an AP! (I have both an AP and am retired military)

I have been having a very hard time getting my hands on Military pricing. They only seem to have it for the most expensive deluxe accommodations, even with the discounts, its just way too much. Hardly anything ever open when I call for Moderate and next to nil for anything in Value. Even with changing our dates around, it's getting harder each time.
