Military salute ticket Question

If my father-in-law, retired Army, were to purchase my family WDW tickets from MWR, but not go to WDW with us, could another person with a military ID show their ID at guest services to activate our tickets? Or does it have to be the military member who purchased the tickets who activates them. We have military friends in Orlando, but they already used their ID to purchase their family tickets. Does the Voucher from MWR/ITT have identifying information of the purchaser or just the guest names who will be using the tickets?


I have read the "Everything About WDW Tickets" sticky, and I have searched high and low and can not seem to find an answer.

The tickets from MWR do not have a name attached to them. The problem arises when your friends try to activate the tickets. They are allready in the system as activating tickets under this promo and the computer knows how many they activated. If they have activated thier alloted amount, they will not be able to activate anymore. Along those same lines, if they have not activated thier alloted amount, then activate yours, then they can no longer activate tickets under thier name. You are almost completely correct.

Military Personnel can purchase 4-Day Disney’s Armed Forces Salute tickets any time during the offer period for themselves and up to 5 family members and/or friends. To purchase these tickets, Military Personnel must present valid United States Military identification (active or retired). Sales locations should refer to the Military ID Reference Sheet for verification.

If active members of the U.S. Military are unable to come to the Walt Disney World Resort during the offer period, their spouses may purchase the 4-Day Disney’s Armed Forces Salute Tickets during this period for up to 5 family members and/or friends (including the spouse).

So the service member may purchase one for themself and up to five additional for friends and family. An unaccompanied spouse may only purchase five maximum.

My base ITT allowed me (the spouse) to purchase 6 of the tickets. Before I purchased, I contacted WDW via email and this is what they sent me:

Active or Retired Member of the U.S. Military

With "Disney's Armed Forces Salute," from Jan. 3 to July 31, 2010, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard and active members of the National Guard or Reservists) or their spouses can purchase Disney's 4-Day Military Promotional Base Tickets for $99, plus tax, for themselves and up to 5 additional family members or friends. The Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More options can be added for an additional $26, plus tax, per option. No more than six Disney's 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets (with or without options) may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (and/or spouse) pursuant to this.

The bolding was mine. This was the response that I received from WDW when I inquired about the 5 or 6 tickets by a spouse. When I purchased the tickets from the military, they also told me that is the service member and/or spouse who could purchase the 6 tickets.

We called SOG and they said the Spouse or the Service member can purchase 6 tickets. I said are you sure becuse this disboards said only 5 for the spouse. They reassured us that the spouse can purchase 6.

We also asked if the service member or spouse had to use one of the tickets, they said no.

So my mom purchased 6. I hope she'll be able to activate all 6 when we arrive.

I am with you. My DH is in Iraq right now and we asked our base ITT several times if they were sure I could activate all 6 tickets. When I emailed disney, the response said and/or which indicates that I can. I know that Cheshire is knowledgeable, so now I am nervous. We will be there next month. I can't imagine getting to the gate and having to purchase another (way more expensive) ticket and having bought a useless one after questioning multiple people.

My quote, in Post #7 above, is from the internal Disney site. It is part of the three pages of instructions related to the Salute 2010 tickets, in the section of how to process them. I don't know what the other sources say, but we also have these instructions in a holder right at each ticket/Guest Services window. And those are the rules we have to go by.

So if SOG sold me 6 tickets, will Guest Services not allow me to activate all of them?

Thanks for the response and I don't doubt your accuracy. The website HERE (incase anyone else wants to print out a copy) offers different rules, the rules which were made public and available to me....since I'm not privy to your internal information on my own. They read that the person with ID can be either the member or spouse and that person can purchase one for themselves and 5 additional for whoever they want. Thus.....like I said, I'll take along a copy of these public rules and argue when I get there if necessary. Not trying to sound entitled or anything, but they advertised it this way.

Thank you for the link to the information. I have sent an e-mail to the ticketing office, which has published the internal information with quotes from both sources and provided links. I have suggested that since the public information allows the spouse to purchase up ti six tickets, that the internal information be changed to show that this is permitted.
