Military salute ticket Question

When we sold the house, the snow shovel conveyed!

That alone is reason enough.

We called SOG and they said the Spouse or the Service member can purchase 6 tickets. I said are you sure becuse this disboards said only 5 for the spouse. They reassured us that the spouse can purchase 6.

We also asked if the service member or spouse had to use one of the tickets, they said no.

So my mom purchased 6. I hope she'll be able to activate all 6 when we arrive.

OK--this is what my question is. Our friend will be buying our tickets for us, but won't be arriving until later in our trip. Can he still buy them for us and are we able to activate them without him being present?

I just wanted to make sure I understood what Cheshire confirmed.
So DH (who is active duty), me and my son can buy 6 tickets and then we can each use 2 for a total of 8 days?

On a side note, if we add the water park option is that good for only one water park on one day or if we have a hopper can we go other days?
TIA!
Rachel

This is a "canned" response modified for the Armed Forces Salute 2010 tickets with the assumption you have both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires at Midnight on September 30, 2010. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used or 09/30/10. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have four days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have four entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the four entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

DH is retired Army we purchased 2 tickets in January, 2 in February and 2 here on thursday this past week. There was no problem buying all six tickets at differnt times but of course the CM told us that we are now out of tickets for either one of us to purchase or activate.

Hope this helps someone with their plans

I wanted to let everyone know that I sent guest services an email regarding whether or not I (military spouse) would be able to activate all 6 tickets. I received a reply today. The person said that I WOULD be able to activate all 6 tickets. I will print out my email and their reply to take with me. I was very specific in my email and received a direct reply and not a canned response that I received the first time I asked.

Thank you so much for the info, I hadn't even though about trying to get 6 tickets. It will be myself and 2 kids - husband, retired military is just not that into WDW? We are going for 8 days and we were just going to fill in time with water parks. If I can get 6 tickets we can use 2 each and go to parks every day. still want to do water parks but now can go to parks at night for EMH?
Me and kids have 3 GAD vouchers, will upgrade those for plain military tickets then purchase 3 mil tics with hopper and water park. It sounds great, I hope it works.

Im in the same boat with 6 tickets that a military spouse bought, freaking out that our plan is screwed now and we are 2 weeks away from checkin :) Has this new information been clarified or changed by the ticketing powers that be ??

Tinkerbell...

This is from the actual Disney World site regarding the military salute tickets:

http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....romotionCode=fy09military&market=fy09military

In other words, the spouse can buy up to 6 tickets AND activate them....But the spouse and/or active/retired person who bought those tickets must be present, at the gate with you to do so...

Hope this helps!

Just thought I would confirm what luvndizny wrote. We got back from WDW on Sat. I activated 6 tickets at Guest Services at Downtown Disney while my DH is currently deployed to Iraq. My family was off in the shop while I was doing this. All the cast member asked for was name and date of birth of everyone in the party. He actually kept the unactivated tickets and gave me new paper tickets with name preprinted on it. It was an easy process and he never questioned me as the spouse activating 6 tickets.

DH and I are both military...and please excuse me because I'm sure this has been answered already but I'm at the end of my searching now.

Our situation: I purchased 5 Salute tickets for our immediate family. We are going as part of a large group so my DH has purchased 4 more under his name for our group. We know that he has to activate them but it will be on different days/times. Does Disney just update their database under my DH's name as the tickets are activated? I've read on some accounts that all parties must be present but then read that they could all be activated by the purchasing person w/o others present (which would be easier for us as we could deliver them at the hotel/conference center instead of meeting 2 here and 2 there).

Hmmm....this reminds me of those "If Train A leaves the station at 9am and train B..." :rotfl2: I don't know the answer to that question. I am *assuming* that one of the military members (whoever purchased the tickets) needs to be the one to activate them and have that info with them (regarding the other members of the party) as someone mentioned above (names, DOB, etc.). I am wondering if you could maybe contact the gate or possibly the Downtown Disney activacting office to see what they say?? Or...maybe go to the Shades of Green website and ask them? Wish I could be of more help...

If you are both military with your own active duty ID card you are each entitled to up to six tickets. He will activate his, and the record will have his name and date of birth and installation and your tickets will be tied to your name and date of birth and installation.

It is a Spouse with an 1173 who is not entitled to activate tickets under their own name, but must use that of the sponsor.

Thanks for the quick answer!
One more clarification please....
Does anyone know if my DH can activate the tickets he purchased w/o the people being present? I understand we need their names and birthdates on activation. They are 2 different parties so meeting up with them at different times will be time consuming for us. We would much rather activate them then take them to the Coronado Springs guest service area for them to pick up, if this is possible.
Thanks

My question is can our Military Salute tickets be put onto our KTTW cards so were not carrying around 2 types of tickets/cards through out our stay?

We were able to get ours put on our KTTW cards at CR last year but I recommend NOT doing it. It messed up my DH's card and he lost all charging privileges--which we didn't know until he was off somewhere trying to buy us all drinks.:headache: It could have been because last year the tickets were free for the military member, but I won't chance it again this year. Besides, it was nice to have separate tickets--then one person could keep everyone's ticket, but we all retained our KTTW/room key and could use it for shopping, food, dining plan, etc. It really isn't so bad to have separate.

I asked and was told no that I could not combine the military tickets onto KTTW cards. BTW, I activated our tickets at Guest Services in Downtown Disney and that is who told me no. I never asked anyone at the resort.

Did you have to show ids....drivers license, etc. (for those old enough) for all members in your party that you were activating for?

In other words, did they have to be there with you when you activated them @ DTD?

thanks
