Hello everyone!!!
My husband just got back from a deployment...he is active duty army. WE ARE CELEBRATING!!! Poor guy really needs a great vacation.
:yay:
I need any help I can get....I'm interested in learning about military disounts at DL. I can get discounted tickets on our army post, but I really wanted to stay on-site. I emailed disneyland to see what they could do for us, but I haven't heard back yet. I thought I'd ask the insiders...
Also if we stay on-site without a discount, what is the best price I can expect? Are there any tricks to get a better rate? We will be going end of Feb- beg of March. Pretty flexible on the dates.
Thanks so much for any assistance!! My husband really needs a break and I'm planning this on my own!!!
Thanks
Suz

I don't have the answers to your questions as I am new to this site as well but I wanted to say thank you to your husband for all that he does for us. Thank you to you as well. My DH was a Marine for 9 years and I know all too well the sacrifices that both the military member make as well as the family. Thank you for your sacrifices that help keep my freedoms alive.

I suggest you conside the off site hotels across the street from DLR ~ onsite is nice but $$$$, there are several places as close or closer to the parks that I enjoy, all we do is sleep in our room anyway. Have fun!

Welcome! Another military wife here.

I have called many times and the military rate at the on-site properties are 10% off the REGULAR rate, so right now they are having special winter and spring hotel promotions that are cheaper than that, so that's your best best. The on-site properties are still EXPENSIVE, even if you get a promotion, and staying off-site is much cheaper and in many cases, equally as close to the parks. You can find discounts at nearby hotels through your MWR, same way you can get your discounted tickets.

Thank you for the suggestions!! AND thank you for the support!!!
I though it might be worth it for the early entry pass to stay there....any opinions on that?

You can also get a Magic Morning day if you buy at least a 3-day park hopper, you don't have to stay on-site. The 3-days are on sale through April for $149, which is cheaper than the MWR price (trust me, I've done LOTS of research on this lol!)

We recently bought 3-day hoppers from our military base and paid $160 for each. So yes, the current online promo is cheaper. Military tickets cannot be used for MM though. I wouldn't worry about MM if you can't get it. It's nice and all, but I don't feel it's necessary. It's not worth the extra expense (huge!) of staying on property just to get in an hour early. If you get there at opening and utilize fast pass, you'll do just fine. Check with your base on hotel accommodations and then do your own pricing online to compare. We found our online rate was less than the military rate offered at the time of our stay.

Good Luck!

For some reason WDW is doing the ARmed Forces Salute again this year but DL is not.:confused3 Too bad as that was a great savings for the active duty families especially. I agree with previous posters, you can do better using other promos they have going on now VS using the 10% military discount.

Thank your husband! He deserves some family time.:cheer2: My husband is also active duty and is deployed more than he is home. Enjoy your vacation!:)
