Do any of the resorts (besides SoG and Swan and Dolphin) offer military discounts? Would these be cheaper than AAA?

You can get overflow rates on all Disney Resorts through Shades of Green. As for if they are cheaper than AAA, usually yes but not always. It's best to just get quotes for both and then make your decision.

Just to give you an idea - we are staying at the Beach Club in a couple of weeks. The AP rate is $174 + tax. Through Shades of Green Overflow we are paying $169 + tax. That saves us a total of $35 for 7 days - not big $$ but - at least I'm not spending it on lodging - instead I can buy about 11 beavertails...! That works for me!

The only thing is if you like to make a lot of changes to your ressie - you might prefer to work with CRO. The people at SoG are great - but it is tough to get a call through to them. Email is the only way I have been able to get in touch with them. They are very responsive via email - but if you like to call and discuss/change your reservation and preferences multiple times - you might prefer to deal with CRO.

We have almost always done better with SOG overflow rates to the resorts. We got WL woodsview for $119 last Dec. A little better than the FL resident rate(which was $119 for a standard view). You call the toll free SOG number to book these "overflow" rates. Not sure how many months out you can do this, but as long as SOG is overflowing to CR, you can book overflow even if they are not full. In the past we would book overflow 2-3 months out when we knew SOG would be full;) ! Also check out the code rates on mousesavers.:)

I called Monday for an overflow rate for the Yacht Club over Thanksgiving weekend for five days. The $164 I was quoted was better than AAA or mousesaver codes. Of course, airfare over Thanksgiving is rarely a bargain but that is the trade off.

if you use an overflow rate, are you usually less apt to get your room choice or possible upgrade, etc? I heard that someone was stuck with an icky room and when they complained about it, the manager said that they should be happy with what they get because they payed a cheaper price....

That comment is totally unacceptable. It should not matter to him what you or anyone else is paying.

Totally! I thought so too...hahhaa..at first i read what you said and thought you were mad at me for posting it..hahahah..:) but yes, i totally agree with you and it really irks me that people, especially thoughs in authority respecful positions would have this frame of mind and would suggest something like that. This is the only thing that really makes me shy away from paying overflow prices...
