Military Discount Tickets?

Thanks all, someone found the cards at my place for me. the back of the card actually says it needs to be exchanged at gs for a real ticket. His base confirmed it as well. My brother lands here tomorrow and will end up pickings the cards up today so thankfully it will all work and wont need to risk it. Physical cards do seem decieving though so hopefully wdw is leniant as some suggest. Thanks!

If I can remember correctly, it was a mickey shaped card with a us flag. Thanks all for the tips/hel

Someone found them back home. Not exactly as I described but somewhat close 😂
Those look similar to tickets issued after 9/11 when we got in free. Read the back of the card, that should let you know what you need to do.

Glad it all worked out! :) (I've never seen that card.)

What has been recommended is to also take photos of the back of the card where serial numbers are on the vouchers/tickets, this way if something happens, the #s can be tracked and confirmed. We've gotten in the habit of doing that for both WDW and Universal.

I don't think that is the case. Vouchers are paper tickets that clearly states they need to be activated at GS. We have purchased 2 day park tickets from the base IT office and they were activated plastic cards. Never had to exchange them at the parks. Just linked on MDE and done.

That's because 2-day tickets are not military promotional (Salute) tickets. All tickets that are not the heavily discounted salute ones, purchased at a slight discount at any base, are the actual tickets. The only ones that need to be activated are the salute tickets.

I think it depends on where you buy them from. I’ve always ordered my salute tickets from SOG and they came already activated every time.

We bought or Salute tickets from the local base for our trip this July and they are hard plastic tickets. It is unclear to me whether or not they are in in fact activated. There was nothing saying they are activated or not, but since they have always needed to be activated in the past, we are planning on stopping by guest services in Disney Springs on our arrival day.

Yes, I should have added that clarification, thanks. The conversation I was responding to was about tickets purchased at a base travel office, but I didn't make that clear.

SoG started sending activated salute tickets about 4 years ago. It's great, and one of the reasons we started getting our tickets there!

Anytime you get tickets from post/base they have to be actually activated at Disney guest services.

This is only true for the Salute tickets, now called Military Promotional tickets.

Base travel offices also sell Magic Your Way tickets. They are more expensive than salute tickets, but work for families in several situations. They are available to some who are not eligible for salute tickets, for example. Or for families that need more than 6 tickets, or need a different length of ticket than the salute promotion for a given year.

These other tickets are actual activated tickets, which need no activation.

I would highly recommend purchasing your future military tickets from Shades of Green. You have to pay for the shipping, but it is hassle free. Having to exchange at Guest Services is kind of a pain. Have a great trip!

Does anyone know if when you order from SOG do you have to list names for who the tickets are for...or do they just come in the mail and you assign them to anyone's MDE?
