Military Discount Tickets?

Yep!
In our experience, it's usually a couple of dollars more, but not much. We mostly buy from SOG but lately have also been buying tickets for WDW and Universal at our local Coast Guard Exchange or at DH's employment where the Air Force has an MWR office out of convenience or, as in the case of February, a last-minute trip.
Great. Thanks for the information!

I have always bought Salute tickets through my base ITT. So if I buy them from SOG, they come activated and all we need to do is go to the entrance, tap our tickets to the sensor, and walk in? That is a big advantage.

Yes, SOG is already activated. We always take our ID’s with us upon first day park entrance just in case, but I don’t think we’ve ever needed it.

I called SOG yesterday. They were very nice and looked up the ticket numbers for me. The days of my visit are going fast and I couldn't take it anymore. (HS has been long gone, and MK is out over half of my trip.) My only worry is if FedEx will never deliver the cards. My ticket numbers are assigned on my MDE, but if they need physical cards over my old Magic Bands I am screwed.

FYI, my package is still saying Orlando. Over a week NO MOVEMENT! What the heck? Still no contact after case filed. I could have jogged to Orlando by now. :sad2:

You absolutely do not need the physical cards. As long as they are linked to MDE, you could get new replacement cards at any ticket window even if you did not have MagicBands.

(I know this for sure because I am a tour director for high school groups. I think the maximum number of lost ticket cards I have replaced in a day is about 6...we have a printout of all the ticket numbers!)

It is an advantage, and a big reason why we have purchased our salute tickets from SoG for the past 4 years! Disney does reserve the right to ask for military ID when those tickets are used, but we have never been asked.

Did they ever show up?

Did they ever show up?

Not yet!

Although it finally saw its first movement since the scan on 2/26 at 1am. Saturday morning the tickets made their way to Memphis. Wonder how long they will hang out in TN for? Maybe they can do some sight seeing ... is Elvis' mansion open during covid? How about Beale Street to hear some blues. 🎷Maybe hot chicken for dinner?🍗

I really feel sorry for someone who is in my position that has medicine or important documents they can't get info for without looking at the papers. Absolutely ridiculous. 2 day Express my eye! 2 weeks is more like it.

Put in our order form on 3/6, haven’t heard anything back yet. Thinking of giving SoG a call tomorrow for an update but wondering if this is a normal timeframe

One more question on these tickets. ;) Are we able to upgrade them, from 5 day hoppers to 6 day hoppers at the parks? Or are these ones not able to be upgraded? It now seems we may have more time on our departure day than I had expected.

Put in our order ten days ago, and finally got a call from SOG, but hubby didn't answer because caller ID showed as "Tesla charging center". On hold for 43 minutes, and then they answer. Ticket agents all busy. They'll call back later today. Wanting to strangle hubby for not answering the phone, lol. I think if we had ordered vouchers from our local ITT, we would have them by now. Hope it's worth it for activated tickets!

You could have when 6-day military salute park hoppers were sold. Now that they are only available in 4- or 5-day versions, you cannot.

have a question

when activating military tickets at Disney Springs, does the whole party need to be there or just the Military person?

Officially, everyone. And all adults can be asked for ID (only the military member has to be an eligible military ID).

Unofficially, this is rarely required. Most people are able to have the military member activate all the tickets without the other guests being there. I just mentioned the official policy so you would not be surprised if you encounter a stickler cast member.

Has anyone ordered the MYW tickets from Shades of Green lately? I'm a spouse and we are taking a couple of trips this year with extended family. I want to purchase the MYW tickets for a couple of our family members. Does anyone know if Shades MYW tickets are the actual activated tickets like the salute tickets or are they vouchers? We've already gotten our salute tickets in the mail so I know that whole process.

Magic Your Way tickets with a military discount, either from a base or Shades of Green, are always activated tickets. No ID check required, other than being able to purchase them at the point of sale.

We have often purchased MYW from SoG without issue. But right now, they are having a delay in processing of about 3-4 weeks because of high demand. So if you have another source (some ITT offices will ship them to you, if you don't have one nearby), I'd recommend that.

First time using military tickets.

My brother purchased park tickets from his base. They were physical plastic cards (with United states flag design) and we were able to link them to our mde accounts. I didnt bring my card because in the past I’ve always just linked our tickets to magic bands and been fine.

I understand he needs to verify his military ID at guest services but do all our cards need to be present? He has his card but I did not bring mine. I called wdw and the CM didnt really give a firm answer. Any help or past experiences is appreciated!

In my past experience yes they need each card. They would take the card and then issue you a hard ticket or link it to the persons magic band. They physically took each military ticket/voucher in turn for each guest. Since he purchased them on post even though they are hard plastic they are still only vouchers and have to be verified and given a corresponding park ticket. Hopefully they will be able to figure something out for you.

I don't think that is the case. Vouchers are paper tickets that clearly states they need to be activated at GS. We have purchased 2 day park tickets from the base IT office and they were activated plastic cards. Never had to exchange them at the parks. Just linked on MDE and done.

Did he happen to bring the receipt or did the base send an email receipt? If so, they might have the info on it the CMs need. We were at WDW in June but used the discounted regular tickets since we already used our allotment for Salutes. The emails the base ticket office sent when we purchased (in person), had all the ticket information on the email (and I believe the receipt did too). This was new for us, but I don't know if it's the same for Salute tickets since it's been a while since we've gotten those on base (we usually go through Shades of Green for those and they come activated).

In our previous experience, tickets will load into MDE, but the physical voucher needs to be exchanged.

I wondered about this since this is also our experience, but @Filipetpalma said they had the U.S. flag on them? Do tickets ever have those? (I wonder if some bases are issuing plastic vouchers now?)

I have not seen flag ones since 9/11. Ours our the regular plastic with different disney park scenes and on the back states admit one. I have some to use in the fall. If it's a voucher it will say so on the ticket. That is my experience from buying on base. Only vouchers we got in the past were the Military Salute Tickets.

If I can remember correctly, it was a mickey shaped card with a us flag. Thanks all for the tips/hel

Someone found them back home. Not exactly as I described but somewhat close 😂
