Military 40% off Rack-Rate rooms

I cancelled my packages this morning and rebooked at the military discount rate! Woo-hoo....I just saved $2500. And yes, as others said, the discount is for deluxes as well. We're staying at the BWI.

Husband has been retired from the AF for several years now. We did this same offer back in 2002 when it was offered. We had no problems getting the free and companion tickets at the TTC windows. The official Disney promo on this (someone quoted it a few posts above) also states you can go to any main ticket window to get the tickets. Just make sure you have your IDs.

That's great about you getting your deluxe! We did too -- staying at GF! <happy dance>

About buying tickets at the ticket window -- yes, you can do this, but if you do you'll pay sales tax. If you buy the vouchers from your base or at Shades of Green, you won't have to pay tax. Then you exchange the voucher at the ticket window for an actual ticket. In both transactions, an ID-carrying person has to show their ID card. Just trying to help people who might not want to pay sales tax. :)

We originally had a ressie at CR GW for the end of June with the 4/3.

When the military rate came out, our TA tried to price the same package only without tickets but she was told NO can't do that!

After reading ALL this stuff on the disboards, I decided I'd try MY hand at it. I tried to price the same with the military rate and they offered Poly but nothing CR; so I booked POR (we have 5 of us so it's smaller pool of resorts we have to pick from) with the military special, both rooms also were priced with the quickie dining package.

I spoke with my TA and told her what I had done, and offered to have the new ressie transfered to her company so she would get credit. She, of course, took me up on it, but I also asked her to see if she could keep our CR GW ressie but at the military rate.

Well, they told her yes!:thumbsup2 When before they had told her no! Once again, a difference in CM. Now we're going with CR GW with quickie dining, using military ticket offer and saving roughly $700 +++! :woohoo:

She kept the booking with the changed rate because it's better to have two booked and cancel one than to have to try your chances with ANOTHER CM!!

That's my story!

This resort is new to us. I'm hoping I made the right choice.
My quotes this morning were for 6 nights in June, 2 adults and 1 Child, with the basic dining plan

FQ $1305.00
Poly $2230.00
WL $2048.00 - Courtyard
AKL - $1724.00

I keep wondering if I should pick the AKL over the FQ. We love the CSR but it wasn't available.

It'll be a road trip so the extra $400 could go for lodging elsewhere. We have stayed at several places on property and become a little spoiled - so which would you pick for the $$$$?
TIA

Nice one for you. I'll check mine and rebooked to save a little bit. I'll make sure to bring my ID with me. :rotfl:

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

Thank you to all who responded to my questions. I appreciate all the information everyone here has shared.

It doesn't look like the deal will work for my DB.

We were thinking of going to SOG using the 40% off promotion. Is it not included in the deal? Is there a reason no one else is staying there? I'm feeling confused...

The 40% deal for military is offered by Disney and is for Disney resorts. Depending on you or your spouses rank the Disney deal is pretty good compared to SOG. My DH and I stay at SOG. We like the feel, size of room, private balcony, etc. We pay $125 a night (I think that's the rate)

When I travel by myself or with a friend that's too high of cost. I'm booked at Pop for $55 a night for next December and I can use Magical Express.

It all depends on the size of your party, the kind of trip that you are planning, and whether you will spend time at your resort.

There's also a deal at Shades but i think it runs thru January. I'm guessing that they'll offer more but they haven't yet.

I guess I misunderstood. I thought the 40% off was for SOG. I didn't realize it was for everything except. Guess we'll need to look at our options... Thank you for the clarification.

But they are tax free if purchased at an ITT desk. If you get them at the gate, they are taxed. Every little bit saved is more to spend in the gift shops :rotfl: .

We've been told that DH (who is a drilling reservists) is eligible for the tickets based upon his ID. He has the new CAC ID where there is no difference between active duty and reserves. If we qualify for the tickets do we qualify for the room as well? What is needed at check in? Just the ID?

So question on the discount tickets. My dad and brother are retired. My dad would be going with us but my brother would not be. Would we be able to have my brother get the companion passes for us to get the $99 tickets and my dad so we could get more than the 5? We will be traveling with 9 people, my Dad and Mom would be with us so we would have 2 people with IDs. Does anyone know??

Thanks,
Michele

Hi all
We're taking advantage of this incentive too. WOOOHOOOO:cool1: Four nights at the POP for $260!!! (although the room size is smaller, the cost was $56 plus tax per night at the Pop versus $125 at SOG. My rationale: we don't plan to be in the room long enough to justify the extra cost for the big room at SOG...)
As for purchasing tickets, I used a similar incentive that was offered for those activated to NYC after 9/11. Hopefully this will work the same way. We purchased the tickets at the main gate to Magic Kingdom. I showed my military ID. I brought copies of military activation orders but was not asked to produce them. For those of you who are drilling reservists or Guardsmen/women, I'd make sure to bring a copy of active orders with you. When I called for clarification on this offer, I was told that as long as we had orders placing us on active duty anytime between Jan 1 2008 and now, we qualify. I was also told that we could purchase the tickets at SOG but their ticket window has limited hours.
Any other military folks at Pop Aug 12 + or the Aug 15 Tortola cruise???
I am sooo excited!!!! (And I'll be more excited if a discount is offered on the cruise!!!!)
Gotta go shovel some more snow.

My DH is a drilling reservist, also. I called WDW last night and they assured me that this is a benefit that we are eligible as well. You don't need to "be on orders" to get this deal.

All you need to do is bring your military ID with you for the check-in process and to get your cheap tickets at the gate (unless you want to get them early at a base).

We got the 40% off rate at Pop Century with this and saved a bundle!

Hi everyone! My hubby is AD Air Force (currently deployed). I just booked our trip yesterday!!! So excited, we are staying at POR in the Alligator Bayou (5 people in our family) for 7 nights in June for $887. We will also be taking advantage of the ticket offer when we arrive. I do have a question though.....

I keep seeing the regular dining plan and the counter service dining plan mentioned but it sounds like the Deluxe dining package is not available with this plan. Is that correct? Why and where did you guys find that?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Nicole

ok so let me get this straight, when it says Active, it means active duty? So you would have had to have been over seas or have the orders saying your fixing to go?:confused3

No, active duty means you are currently serving. Someone in the Army can be active duty yet stationed in California. As long as you are "actively" serving. Deployed means over seas.

OK now I am really confused, alright DH is active in the National Guard, he even got the email from his unit on his AKO. It says active which he is, but at the present moment he is not active duty will not be official(again) for a couple months. Anyway point is I'm so unsure if he really does qualify for the tickets or the room rate?? Some say yes, when I called the base they said yes, but many are saying that guardsmen need to show orders for being employed?? I feel like I'm going crazy:headache: :confused3 I just don't want to make ressies using the military code or buy tickets at the base then get to Disney and find out it's all no good. I just hope I can get all the facts straight before I do, cause I'm hoping to make ressies tomorrow or Tues.....I really hope I'm not sounding dumb on all this....:rolleyes1

*I see what your saying let me change my wording, DH is currantly active in the military, but won't be deployed again til this summer, which for some reason is what I called being called up for active duty, hope my wording above makes more sense now*
