Miley concert

We went last week in Philadelphia. It was a very good show....more Miley Cyrus than Hannah Montanna...my DD5 (almost 6) and her friend 7 still enjoyed the show. But IMHO it is more toward the tween side. MetroStation opened.
I think DD was expecting more of a musical/stage show than a concert. It is a concert for sure.

I have not been to a Miley concert, but my friend and her dd 12 went to her concert in San Antonio this past October. She commented on how the show was definitely a TEEN show. Miley's brother was the opening act. He performed shirtless, wore low cut jeans, and made several comments about the hot girls in the audience. (I guess he failed to notice that the girls in the audience were all 12 and under. ) She felt the same way about Miley......her performance was a little too *mature* for the attending audience.

Hmmm, that's good to know. I'm trying to win tickets here but wonder if I'm wasting my time if it's too much for her.

Hmmm...this is a little concerning to me. I am taking my DD11. I was not aware of the "grown up" extras. Oh well, can't turn back now. I am committed to the non transferrable tickets.

PP: For your DD11 the two of you will probably have a good time, I am guessing she is more familiar with Mylie Cyrus & her music not just the Hannah Montanna stuff. It seemed like a pretty tame concert crowd in Philadelphia...I didn't notice a bunch of young drunks wandering around.

Did I think it was a little much for my DD5 - probably... but is was cute to see her & friend dancing & singing along to Party in the USA...there is also a big difference between 5 & 11...

If it is too much for your taste you can always leave early.

I took DD5 to see the musical GREASE...I should have watched it again first but since I already paid for the tickets & she loved the music we went...with many warnings about the content...as I figured & LUCKY for me figuring correctly everything that should go over the head of a 5 year old did!!

When we are somewhere and see someone acting inappropriately I use it as an example for my kids of how NOT to behave:eek:

I hope you enjoy the time with your daughter at the concert!

i took my dd7 to the Mpls show a few weeks back. She didn't notice the "adult" themes. They went right over her head. Metro station is much more for the teen girls. My biggest disappointment was her lack of enthusiasm. Granted this was her 25th show or something like that so I am sure it was all old hat at that point but c'mon put a little life into your singing. yes she did sing and not lip-sync.

A friend of mine took her two girls and she said the very same thing so I'm glad we didn't go. I took my DD to see the Jonas Brothers and it was a great show for all ages.

The moms I talked to about her New Orleans show thought that it was awful. One had to explain to her four year old that Miley was just "wearing her bathing suit" to explain away the skimpy outfit. She apparently danced inappropriately with her microphone stand too...They compared the whole thing to a Britney Spears concert :0

needing to ask if one's 5yo is ok to go, usually means that common sense says no.

just look at her latest videos on youtube (metro station included) and what she's been up to lately and you will see that she's moving away from the younger set..

I would agree to Miley steering away from the younger set PP. But she is developing herself as Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana is just a 'job' so when she preforms a concert as Miley Cyrus I would think it would be geared towards the older tween/teen crowd. I was at the concert Sunday night in Newark and she definately wore some outfits that were questionable as well as some of her dance moves. For me as a 16 year old teenager it didn't phase me, but for a 5 year old it might. It all depends on how much you think they would pick up. It was a very good concert but like another poster said, it was a concert, not a musical that some young ones may expect it to be. Also, it was a lot different from the Hannah Montana concert 2 years ago. It was a good concert as well, but the atmosphere and content was geared towards the show and the younger crowd, even when she sang as Miley. All in all I think your 5 year old might still have a good time if she is a big Miley fan. I hope that helps you out OP!

Thanks for all the feedback.

Not really. I was wondering if she did some Hannah stuff still and appealed to that group of girls or if she was more of just a concert now. Wasn't sure what she was up to. But now I see that we have probably missed the boat on this all together.

We took DD(8) to the concert in Birmingham. The opening act is not for the younger kids, but Miley isn't too bad. It was definately not Hannah Montana, but if your kids listen to Miley's songs they would probably enjoy it. True, her outfits and dancing were probably too mature for her age, but they weren't any different than any other 16 year old's outfits or dancing. If I had it to do over again, I would simply take my time getting to the concert and stay out in the concession area until Metro Station was finished. They were the most inapprpriate part of the show.
