MIL or not?

In a studio? With my MIL? Oh my god no way!



No way on earth would I share a small room with my husband, child, and his mother. Much as I love her.

Agree 100%. My own mother I can handle, I'm used too her. I have to many OCD issues to deal with someone I'm not used to having to share space with.

We went last year with MIL and we all stayed in a regular room. We had a blast! I think it depends on your family dynamics, what works for one doesn't for another. We are a "more the merrier" type. If you want it to be just your family don't take her, if you think she would add to the fun go for it!

I feel this way as well. My MIL spent 8 nights with us in a room at POR. We had a blast. She was so helpful with the girls, it was a blessing! Add to that we also had a male friend of ours with us, he goes to Disney with us all the time. Neither him or MIL had an issue with it, we were all just relaxed for the week. I do think it has a lot to do with dynamics. I was actually upset that my MIL couldn't join us on our last trip, but she will be with us for part of the trip in 2 weeks.

I love my in-laws, but one trip with them was enough. The kids acted up, we didn't get to do things on our own time, and they monopolized the kids the whole trip. Never again!

We have come to a decision (DH & I). And the answer is...we're going alone no MIL. The deciding factor came down to the size of the room. While we would be perfectly ok in a studio at BCV - plenty of room. The studio at BLT -holy crap are they small! We took a peek at photos of the studios and the floorplans - there isn't room for the PnP and the sofabed pulled out. The bed and the sofa are lliteraly inches away from each other!
Easy decision once we saw the photos. And we can't even get another studio because all the DVC studios are booked. We'll just hang out with MIL next May. Now I can relax and not stress out about this. More time to spend on mapping out our plan of attack

I say go with just the family. We have done family trips, trips with friends, sports trips. Take the time to make memories with just you, DH and DD. We will always remember being out until 2AM at EMH, just me, DW, DS11, DD9. While it is great to be together with friends and family, spending some time with just the smaller family is something you will cherish.
