Mike & Missy Plus Six-A 9/11/11 Dream Trip Report! Update-12/08-COMPLETE!!

Checking in at last. Loving your trip report. So sorry to hear about the dog and so glad to hear Mike is feeling better. :flower3:

Hi Missy, Joining in! I am loving your report. I got to sail the Dream in March on a 3 nighter and looking forward to sailing her again in Nov. of 2012.
It's such a beautiful ship and you have some great pictures! I love the sail away party ones. It rained on our boarding day and our sail away party was inside...I sure hope the next one I see is outside!
I am so sorry to hear about your dog.
And I am glad Mike is healing up well.

Your camera sure does have a good zoom lens! Great Sail Away pics!
Love the AP pictures!

Thanks!!

So glad to have you hear. And thanks for the kind words!

Hi, Jennifer!!! Thanks for joining me! I've actually read a couple of your TR's! I've gotten way behind on your most recent one, so I really need to get my tail over there and get caught up as I LOVE your reports!!

After dinner, we were really excited to check out the new shops, so we headed straight there. Of course so did everyone else, which made it pretty much a madhouse! That's one thing I hate about shopping in Disney or on the ships...it's so crowded and hard to even move around, much less shop. But, we did manage to check out a few things in Mickey's Mainsail. First, we got Dustin a lanyard so he could wear it with his KTTW card. Of course after the first night, he never wore it again! Next, we walked across to White Caps so I could check out the Disney D&B's as well as the Chamilia stuff since I couldn't manage to get a look in DTD.

I wasn't really impressed with the cruise D&B's, and they didn't have the style that I really wanted, so I didn't spend very much time there. The Chamilia case was a different story! And since it was our anniversary, Mike let me pick out a bracelet and a couple beads as my gift! It was kinda hard to decide between all the cute Disney beads, but these are what I eventually ended up with:

I actually took this picture with my phone once we were at home, so the quality isn't so great. I ended up getting the DCL ship bead, which we were told is only sold on the ships. I also chose the Mickey head with the clear gem along with two beads from the Art Glass collection! I'd been eyeing these bracelets for a long time, but wasn't really sure if I'd actually wear it enough to justify buying one, but I love the fact that it's Disney themed, so I wear it everyday. And when I look at it, it reminds me of our cruise!

After we'd made our first big purchase of the trip, we decided to head out to and take another tour of the ship at night while Dustin decided to head off with the other Dustin to play a round of Goofy Golf.

Walking around the outside decks at night is one of my favorite things about cruising. It's nice to stroll along and see the moon reflecting on the sea with all the lights on the ship aglow!

I love seeing the pools all lit up as well!

We made our way to the sports deck where the two Dustins were having way too much fun and I snapped a couple more shots along the way:

I just love seeing the Mickey head all lit up...there's just something so special about it to me!

Next, we decided to mosey through Cabanas since we hadn't been there just yet and wanted to get an idea of just how it was laid out since I'd seen so many others post about it.

Honestly, I loved the new decor and the additional seating (which they had to add to accomodate all the extra passengers), but to me the layout was really confusing--nothing like Beach Blanket or Topsiders!

We carried on some more, and I of course took more pictures along the way:

And since we were so close, Mike decided to have his first ice cream of the cruise...I think he went with the banana flavored one...Yuck!

We walked some more before we snuck up on Brandi and Brandon relaxing in the adult area. They were so cute all relaxed in the chair there:
EmbarkationDay169.jpg

We waited a second to make sure we weren't interrupting anything before we said hello. For those of you who haven't read my Pre-trippie...Brandi and Brandon had been dating for 2 years at the time of the cruise, and all of us knew that they would eventually tie the knot...we were just waiting on him to pop the question! And of course since he's told her that he was planning to do it, but he had his own vision of how he wanted to do it, we all hoped it would be on the cruise! Turns out...they were just talking and relaxing, darn it!! We only chatted with them for a minute before we headed off so they could enjoy their alone time on the ship.

By this point, we were pretty tired and decided to head on back to the room. Tonight's show was the Golden Mickey's, and since we'd seen it before, we decided to skip it.

We made it back to the room where we found our first towel animal:

The two Dustins were still out and about, but I knew they'd probably be out pretty late, so we decided to call it a night. I can't even remember what time it was when we finally tucked in to that incredibly comfy well, but I do know that I slept very well which is unusual for me! I do remember hearing the two Dustin's coming in around 2 am, which didn't suprise me, but I could tell they were having a good time. They went to turn the TV on and were trying to be really quiet by whispering, but when the TV came on, it was blaring. One of them jumped to try and get it turned down as quick as they could and they both started giggling! I just giggled with them and pretended I didn't even hear!!

Next up: Fun in the sun at Atlantis!

It's like you had the boat to yourselves, how wonderful :) Was it very late to get those shots?

That's a very cute picture of Mike wearing Goofy's sandals. Love the bracelet too :)

Too funny about the TV scare, I'm glad it sounds like the Dustins were having a good time!

Actually, it wasn't late at all. I think most people were either in the second seating of dinner, or maybe the show. It was only about an hour or two after our dinner.

I thought the TV scare was funny, too!! I was glad that they were having a good time as well!

How has Mike been doing? Things seem better since I haven't seen any bad posts lately. :flower3:

I know the feeling regarding the ship all lit up at night, especially the Mickey's on the stacks! :thumbsup2

What a gorgeous bracelet!

That TV coming on would have made me jump out of bed! Did Mike budge at all?!

Oh, I love the DCL logo all lit up at night too! It's so beautiful to see that, and love walking around the higher decks when it's dark out. So peaceful!

Mike's great! His arm is near completely healed. Now it's just a small place that looks like he skint it or something...would never know he had surgery just by looking at it.

I'm glad you liked the bracelet. I wish I could've got a better pic!

Mike never even knew what happened. I had to tell him about it the next morning. If I hadn't woke up when I heard them come in the door, it probably would have scared me too!

It is peaceful and very serene!! Something about watching the sea at night is so mesmerizing to me! Definitely one of my favorite things to do!:lovestruc

I just found your trip report today...I was scrolling down the page and realized I know Brandi! I worked with her when I lived in GA. So very cool. Here I am in Alaska and see someone I know in a random Disney cruise trip report. Small world. Love the trip report so far. I am sorry to hear about your dog. It looks like the same thing is happening with my puppy (not really a puppy-but..) his name is Bolt and he is a white German Shephard we found at the pound in Cobb Co. Sweetest dog ever. He had heartworms when we got him from the pound. We cured that and now he has a growth on his leg which is probably bone cancer. He actually has a biopsy tomorrow to see for sure. Yucky.

Great trip report! Cannot wait to hear more :)

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Thanks for being here!:)

Are you serious? That's amazing! How very, very cool that you know her!! Where did you work with her at?

Glad you're enjoying the report by the way!

I'm so very sorry about Bolt. (Love the name!) I will be keeping you and him in my prayers. Please keep me posted on what you find out.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Bolt. When we moved to Alaska we had to leave him with family, now we realize that it worked out for the best because there is not really good vet care in this small town.

Gotcha! I actually work in Gainesville as well...just a minute or two from the hospital! I still think it's very cool that you know her and then found my report!

I'm sure leaving him behind was hard, but it has to make you feel good to know that it was the right thing to do.

Too bad I didn't meet you while I lived there - we could have been Disney buddies! My friends got so tired of my endless trip planning and talking about all things Disney. I was told to shutup on many occassions! :confused3

I understand what you mean! It definitely would have been nice if we'd met...but hey, we have now!:) I don't think anyone gets mine and Mike's love for Disney either. Even though the family came with us on the cruise, I know they still think we're crazy!!:rolleyes1

Great night-time and Cabanas pics!! When we went, I loved walking through Cabanas when they were "closed" and seeing how pretty it was, and getting pics in there while it was empty!

I'm loving the nightime shots. It's so nice to walk around the ship when it's kind of empty. I really enjoyed walking early mornings...just me and the clean up guys!
