So after not having any major migraines in a few months...today I was not so lucky. I did all I could to prevent it, but I am now in the midst of a full blown migraine, and stuck at work to boot...

I leave in an hour and a half, and still another almost 2hr commute home..I had no choice but to take my migraine medication...which I HATE taking at work..as the naseua and the way it makes me feel is just not fun to work with...

I just want this day to end!!

I'm sorry. I get migraines as well. being at work when it happens is the worst, at least if you are home, well if I am home, i can lie down, in the dark and quiet with a cool wash rag on my head. but at work, you can't do that.

hope you feel better soon.

So sorry to hear that, migraines are awful. What do you take that makes you feel nauseous? Are you feeling any better yet?:flower3:

People must suffer differently for migraines

When I get one, any amount of light (like from the monitor), sound (from the keyboard) would give me fits

I have to put myself in a sensory deprivation zone. I cant imagine being at work with all the fluorescent lights, much less posting.

I am suffering through it..

I take Treximet for the migraines...takes almost 2hrs to really kick in...but makes me ill and feel odd...but the pain eventually goes away..

As for the severity of the migraine...mine vary...because I caught this one early...I have not hit all the advance stages..The lights are driving me bonkers, and I unfortunatly cannot just NOT work...though I guess being on the DIS is not work...I just am finding it hard to concentrate on anything at this point...I am considering leaving half hour early...my stomach is very icky right now..

Fellow migraine sufferer here, hope you feel better soon. My last migraine left me nauseous for two days, and the pain settled in my jaw. I hate when that happens.

If you can, leave work as soon as possible - tell them that your migraine medication is going to make it impossible to get any work done, and that you need to make it home safely.

I also take treximet for my migraines and it takes a couple hours to really kick in. I don't have too many side effects from the med, but part of that is because I go through cycles of migraines, getting them every day for a week or two (I'm in one of those cycles now). Then I won't get any (or many) for a few weeks and then wham! When I take the med after not needing it for awhile it makes me pretty sleepy. If I catch the migraine early I can still go about my business, but if I don't catch it and get a full-blown one, I'm miserable. Sorry you have one at work and yuck on that commute!

Dax, I know all about the "fun" of migraines. I take Maxalt and it takes a good 1-2 hrs to kick in. I also have the Imitrex Stat injections that I can give myself. I save those for a major migraine, as they are expensive, in spite of my insurance paying the majority of the bill, and they only dispense 2 injections in an Rx. When I give myself an injection, the migraine will usually be gone in about 1/2 hr.

 I know you're in for a rough night so hang in there!

TC :cool1:

I can totally relate, although the last dr I went to said migraines don't go away by taking Excedrin. Wellll, if I have a headache, am nauseous, light and smells bother me, I think it's a migraine. I am lucky enough to be able to leave work early and go home and lie down in the dark with a cold rag. Feel better.
