Hi everyone

I need some advice about my trip in october. Basically my husbands visa might not be ready (no lectures please as you don't know the full story!) so we might have to cancel the trip.

Options so far are;

A: leave everything how it is and pray everything works out. Dvc would need cancelling at 31 days to avoid points going into holding. Flights can be changed 24 hours prior to departure. Disney are going to charge £50pp to cancel the tickets and reissue for 2013 if we have to cancel.

B: change flights/dvc/tickets now for feb 2013 instead.

To change the flights it's going to cost £360 for both of is, £100 lost deposit from Disney + the price increase for next year.

So would you sit and wait or cancel and rebook for feb?

I am torn between praying it works out or being sensible and forking out an extra £500!

Also, not sure what the weather is like in feb either?

The weather can be a bit hit or miss in February. Generally, though, you are looking at warm days and cool nights.

If you can wait a bit longer, I would. Do you know how long it is likely to be before you find out one way or the other about the visa? Presumably not or you wouldn't be considering cancelling. Are the costs of changing the flights likely to go up if flight prices go up? Or is the £360 an admin/change fee?

I would probably split the difference and wait till the end of the month. If it is unlikely that you will know for definite by then, I would just change it now. Is February your only other option?

The £360 is the admin fee of £150pp plus the diff in flight prices...tbh we could go anytime, but would have to pay the price diff on top as well, which almost makes it cheaper to rebook altogether, but the though of losing £950 in flights is devestating.

Chances are slim of the visa being ready, but there is a chance.

So annoyed about the whole situation!

Is it worth rebooking for later in the year so at least you wouldnt have to pay the amendment fee for the Disney tickets? Or is it still as big a risk? I have to be honest and say we always book Magic Your Way tickets so we don't have the problem of having to change them if the worst comes to the worst and our plans change.

I'm sorry, I really can't offer you any other advice. I can completely understand how frustrating (and upsetting) it is for you though

Hubby can't have time off in dec and nov is only 2 weeks after our original Planned trip.

I know that if I cancel the visa will turn up - sods law I believe!

Hey - October is still 3 months away, what's the visa delay? Not meaning to be nosy, but it'd be easier to advise if we knew the problem as usually that's plenty of time!

Depending on the issue, I'd be inclined to risk it. But if you genuinely don't think it'll get sorted in time, the sensible thing is to wait.

Hahaha you've hit the nail on the head. 90 days is the usual handling and processing time, it's never taken this though and has ways been done in approx 8 weeks of that. At his appointment 3 weeks ago he was told they have a 'backlog' and it would take up to 22 weeks, and actually laughed at him when he said his travel plans were for October!

So I doubt it will be done and based on this think we should rebook but it may just be done earlier as its his 9th visa and they have everything they need.....

Armed witht hat knowledge, I would wait the 'normal' amount of time it has taken before and then, if you haven't had the visa, cancel then. I presume you can't phone and ask them about the current status?

Nope there is no phoning or chasing the flipping embassy! They r a chuffing nightmare!

Good idea! But I'll have to cancel my dvc booking in August..so we'll have to see
What is available to book if it turns up.

Ouch.

I see your problem. How close to the 22 weeks will you be in October?
If its a couple of weeks, I'd risk it... Any longer, definitely not.

I don't have any experience of the visa situation but I would wait to the last day if possible before cancelling.

Good luck with it all....I hope it works out for you :goodvibes :goodvibes
