We are from Wisconsin and I am looking for a place to go for a long weekend over spring break. We have been to Chicago, Wisconsin Dells many times and do not want to go to Mall of America. Willing to drive a bit.

We are from ND and this is one of our favorite areas to go for a short long weekend getaway. There's so much to do there and it's gorgeous especially if you like the outdoors and the weather is nice
The Detroit metro area has a lot of fun stuff to do. The Zoo, the Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, ad the Detroit Institute of Arts are all great. There is also a lot of great food in downtown Detroit, Corktown and some of the suburbs.
The ferry to the Island may not even be running at that time, depends on how much ice cover.
I've received great advice on DIS for things to do in St. Louis and Louisville, KY. Those would be perfect long weekend destinations.
Also, the suggestion to visit the Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI is awesome. Really a must see, but the the outdoor Greenfield Village historic area will not reopen for spring until April 15th.
Indianapolis has minor league baseball and NBA right downtown plus some good museums.
I would also suggest St Louis for kid friendly things to do and a lot of it free. Branson is a nice place to visit with plenty to do - along the drive to either you could definitely stop at some of our state parks and caves to check out as well.
Totally agree. We live in the cities and we go to Duluth at least once, often twice a year. We love it up there!!! There is a lot of great stuff to see and do! Over the years we have seen it all and have started doing some of it for the 2nd and 3rd time.
When you are wanting to go though? It would be better to go to Duluth when it's a bit warmer
If you are into museums, then Indianapolis would be an option. The children's museum is by far the best we have been to. There are many other things to do downtown as well. We are probably going to go to the Wolf lodge in Cincinnati for a short mid week trip.
