Next October, we are wanting to take a short vacation (about 5 days)... We are looking for a nice hotel/resort within a days drive from Springfield, IL (where we live)... After 2 vacations in WDW, (which we LOVED!!), we are looking for a place that we can chill out and where we don't feel we have to "see" anything... The only requirement my Mother has is room service... I would like an indoor pool if possible... Any suggestions would be great!!!
Thanks in advance!

i AM MOVING TO INDY AT THE END OF THE MONTH. I'LL LET YOU KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING THERE THAT SEEMS COOL AND NICE

Where in IN are you moving?I just moved here in Sept from IL.
Sorry Idon'tknowof any hotels here in IN but why not do a nice hotel downtown Chicago.

I really can't think of any kind of resorts in Indiana or anything to do in October other than the usual leaf viewing trips to brown county or metamora. Sorry I can't be of more help.

You could look into French Lick, IN (a "resort" town in southern Indiana....home of Larry Bird....). There are some great State Park lodges in the Indiana parks but I don't know about room service (check out http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/inns/). If you are interested in Indy there is also a lot going on and some great hotels downtown. Check out www.indy.org. Also, if you go to northern Indiana, there is some cool stuff to do and see in the Amish country.

There are many indoor water parks...

How about Door County, WI. We go up there every summer, but it's a nice place to visit year round. It's the peninsula that forms the "thumb" of Wisconsin--between Green Bay and Lake Michigan. So there's shore line everywhere.

Door County is somewhat less "tourist trappy" than Wisconsin Dells. There are several hotels with indoor pools. There's a ton of places to eat.

I firmly agree that the Indiana State Park Inns are a well kept secret. We've stayed at the one in Brown County, as well as Spring Mill. Both are very nice. Also, several of the parks have cabins that you can rent, which have a bit more room, and offer a kitchen to offset the price of meals. With a cabin rental, you have full access to the facilities such as indoor pools, etc.

In Indianapolis, there is a very nice Embassy Suites downtown, which connects to the Circle Center Mall. Indy does a very nice job of decorating for Christmas, and the Children's Museum is one of the best in the country (it's just a short drive from downtown).

Have a great trip, and feel free to pm me if you have specific questions. I lived most of my life in Indianapolis.
