Hi Everyone!!

We are having a baby boy on February 15 and we are stuck deciding on a middle name. His first name is going to be Alex. Help!!

I like Alex Nicholas and Alex Dante :thumbsup2 Congrats!

While they are all nice names, I don't really think any of them 'flow' that well. You need either a 3+ syllable name or something 1 syllable.

Nicholas is 3 syllables and sounds the best to me but it ends in a similar sound as Alex which I think makes it not flow as well as other names might.

If I have to choose...Nicholas

Are you naming him "Alex" or "Alexander?" I'm assuming "ALEX" as this is what you wrote but not sure.

You also have to look at your last name and what the first letter of your last name is. You don't want him having the initials ADD or something weird like that.

My mom didn't think about our last name when she named my sister, and her initials are EAT. Very embarrassing in middle school when she was on the volleyball team and all the girls were putting their initials on one buttcheek of their uniform shorts.

Its going to be just Alex. His brother's name is Jose and I don't want one to have a short name and the other to have a long name.

Our last name starts with a T.

I like Alexander Thomas. If you are doing just Alex then I like Alex Nicholas.

We are also having a baby boy, EDD 4/20/07, and his name is Alexander Stephen!

Okay. I'm going to say something here and please don't take offense. This is just *my* pet peeve and I know others don't feel the same way. But, you're okay with giving your child a "shortened" form of a regular name? My name is Christine and people sometimes call me Chris, but I wouldn't want my formal name to be "Chris" you know? I'm also sure that my husband wouldn't want his real name to be Dave versus David?

I know my friend is mad because her mom gave her a name of "Betty" versus "Elizabeth."

So, I understand that while you want both boys to have "short" names, you are giving one of them a regular name and one of them a nickname.

Again, this is just how *I* view names and I know everyone has their own viewpoints and feelings, so please don't take offense to this.

Now, if the name is to be a short name, I agree with the other poster who said that the middle name should be 3 syllables. It just flows better.

If you go with Nicholas, his initials will be ANT. Just something to think about.

From your choices, I would go with Thomas./

My sisters was APE!:lmao:

I like Thomas or Cory, but Cory will give you ACT. Nicholas= ANT, so I would go with Thomas or Dante based on that.

I would think along the lines of a J name as I always love the little AJ's that I have met.... But from your list if I had to choose I guess Nicholas?
Duh and Congratulations!!!

I think Alex Thomas sounds the best together. Also, that's a very good day to have a baby on- it's my 35th birthday!! Congrats on the new baby.
