I might be completely confused here but I am starting to panick!!
My ceremony is at 12 midday and I was planning on having luncheon reception, well after months of planning at the luncheon reception price I have been told that as I may go over the 4pm cut off to the dinner menu that I will need to pay the dinner prices and meet the dinner minimums

This sounds mad to me! We will be at the reception location by 1.30pm latest and as we are only a smallish party with no dancing etc I thought we would be done by 4pm.

Could anyone reassure me as I cant get hold of my planner until tomorrow and I would like to sleep tonight!!

I don't know how much help this will be since I am getting married at Disneyland and the same rules may not apply to you. At Disneyland they gauge the prices by when a reception starts, so as long as a receptions starts before 2 you are still considered afternoon. It doesn't make sense that they would charge you afternoon prices if your reception goes past four because people would have eaten well before then, best of luck.

The same is true at Walt Disney World - as long as your event starts before 2pm, you will only need to meet the lower minimums.

Where I think the possible problem is that for Wishes packages, they plan it out that the Ceremony is an hour, pre-reception is an hour, and then the reception starts. So in this case, 12PM Ceremony, 1PM Pre-reception, 2PM reception. This is what seemed to be the "norm" when talking to my planner. I believe, but may be wrong, that you could do without the pre-reception/cocktail hour and have your reception start at 1 to avoid the dinner mins. But double check with your planner.

Thank you everyone!! I should hear from her tonight so will let you know the outcome but I cant see how they can charge me for a dinner reception so fingers crossed we are all right!

O.K situation resolved! If my reception was going to continue after 4pm then I would have to reach the higher min but as I am having very little extras then I should be done and dusted b 4pm so the min is lower. At least I can get some shut eye tonight!;)
