We’re considering the 7 night Eastern Caribbean next December 9. Hoping for feedback on weather from those who have cruised mid-December. We just got off the Fantasy on November 6th and found the weather very pleasant. Thanks for any input.

Personally, as someone living in the midwest I prefer to travel to the warmer places during the colder months. So, a cruise around November/December is my favorite time to travel. It'll still be nice & warm at the destinations, but not as hot as it can get.

We did an Eastern December 27 through January 3 and to us, as Californians, the weather was fine. It did sprinkle on Castaway Cay, and the air temperature was very near the water temperature (about 75 degrees for both) so it did feel a little cool getting out of the water. But our gym heats the outdoor pool in the winter to 70 degrees, so 75ish degrees water temperature is plenty warm.

We also cruised in January 1986 during the historic Florida Freeze. That cruise was out of Miami and it was in the 30's, but it was 80 degrees later when we got to our first port two days later.

Over the past several years, I've cruised to Castaway Cay four times in late December/early January. The weather was idyllic each time. Warm but not hot, blue skies, and no rain on the island. The water on CC is chilly, but your body adjusts to it quickly upon full immersion into the water, and the air was always warm enough when I was there to walk around wet comfortably. The Caribbean is warmer, naturally, and also has warmer water.

I did a side to side out of Miami on NCL and then DCL in mid-late december.

First cruise it rained in all three ports. It was cool. Second cruise it was HOT HOT HOT.

So, it can vary.

Thanks for all the feedback. Really want to do one of the Very Merrytime cruises. I'm leaning toward giving it a try. Thanks again.

We just did a Merrytime at the beginning of December around the Bahamas and thought the weather was perfect. We did a cruise on the Fantasy in May and I found that to already be oppressively humid. I much preferred the December weather.

Generally we like to cruise in Early December because the prices are affordable and the weather is nice. We were on the Wish 11/28-12/2 and wouldn't hesitate to book that time frame again. One thing to note is that because it is a busy school period before the holidays, the ship will be likely more adults than anything else so expect the adult pools and areas to be busier.

The water at Castaway was cool but enjoyable every time we've been in December. It was in the high 70's a few weeks ago but the sun made it feel perfect with a nice cool breeze. I would say its the nicest weather we have ever had at Castaway.

If you are looking at eastern, December is also nice being out of hurricane season so you are likely to get calmer waters.

Weather in the Caribbean in December is amazing. Warm but not humid, and the ocean is still a good temp. If you sail between January and March, the water can be really cold.

That is a great week for the Caribbean (and travel in general). We pick it for a land stay in St Thomas - lower airfare and nice weather. (And nearly no chance if hurricanes).

It‘s one of the best shoulder seasons still around.
