Mid-Day Break Advice

Hi,

I need some probably quick advice on scheduling my day for HS.

We are doing Disney Junior Dine at H&V at 8 am and then I got the fantasmic dining package for that night, but we are eating lunch at 12:30.

I have a 5 year old, fantasmic that night is at 8.

I am trying to figure out when to do mid-day break and if I should go back to hotel (AKL) or just go to boardwalk or what type of ideas people have, and on the same note good QS dinner at any of the places. I am not doing dining package so that is irrelevant.

My son will need the break and im just not sure how to fit it in on this day.

I would leave DHS shortly after lunch and go back to AKL. Eat at Mara for dinner and head back out to DHS around 6:30/6:45 pm. That gives you plenty of time for a break.

I agree with PPs. Go back to your resort and chill out. The Boardwalk, while fun, isn't ideal for a mid-day break and there isn't a ton to do there.

I would play it by ear and let your little one determine when/if you need a break. You know your kid, you know when it's getting to melt down time. Some kids can make it all the way through, some can't. The time of year might make a difference, if you are going when it's hotter than you know where, maybe take a break after lunch and go back to AKL and take a dip in the pool, grab something at Mara and head back. Or if your little one isn't a pool kid, when he starts getting grumpy, head back to AKL and grab a nap (for either you or him or both). Head back around a hour before Fantasmic. It's very possible the little guy might be just enjoying the heck out of himself and not need a break.

About the only thing that would interest a 5yo at the Boardwalk in the afternoon would be the new ice creamery and possibly a surrey bike ride. The evening entertainers are fun, but in the evening.

If you have 4+ hours, I'd go back to AKL. With the pool and cultural representatives, the child will have more fun. (And you could eat zebra domes for lunch at Mars)

We recently did exactly what you have planned. We left at 3:00 and returned at 645.

Agree with PPs. If you finish up lunch around 1:30, you'll be back at your resort by 2:30 if staying onsite and have to bus to your resort. If you leave your resort around 6 to head back for Fantasmic, you'll be back at DHS by 7pm which I think is perfect timing. Even with the Fantasmic dining package, you will still want to get there a little early.

We just got back from our 8 day. We breaked daily from 2/3 to our dinner adr. I fell asleep and showered each before our dinner adr. My 7 yr old fell asleep daily, too. We all felt better after nap and shower. It 100% helped us tour later. :-)

Another vote for leaving after lunch for a resort break! Have a fun trip!!
