Microwave needed in room

So how do you get ahold of the front end manager? When you call your call just goes to a call center, and not the resort itself.

See, it is this whole one CM tells you one thing and a different CM tells you another that is so darn frustrating!

Main Phone: 407.938.4000 - ask to be transferred to the front end at Pop Century - I spoke with Greg/front end manager yesterday. We are travelling end of August

Fax: 407.938.4039 - I also faxed my request yesterday and will send a short and sweet reminder 72 hours before arrival.

Sorry this is so frustrating for you. I have had to ask different managers etc. Just keep yourself reserved and no need to go into long explanations. Short, sweet, but let them know you mean business.

Waaay off topic, but do you love your Titanium?
We have a Montana and DH has looked at the Titaniums a few times for ease of towing.

We love our Ti. We actually looked at in 2004 new and decided that it was way to expensive for us at that time. In 2007 when the same model came up on e-bay, we couldn't pass it up. It was at a dealer in GA and they were excellent to work with. Ours is the smallest made, but plenty of space for DH and I. Have had no problems with it (except blowing a tire coming home from FL) We had it FW this past June, but the fort has gotten so expensive it's cheaper to stay in Value (although w/o a microwave, we may end up at the fort anyway). We replaced the shower head with one of those oxygen showerheads and it's wonderful, also got the sewer solutions to clean the tanks--works great and pumps up hill w/o needing to connect to the battery. After we got our Ti, two of our friends both went and got one (one the same model as ours but 2005 and the other 2005 double slide--very, very nice). Would recommend them to anyone. ;)

Oh, forgot it tows like a dream. You don't even know there's anything back there. DH and I take turns towing and I was a little leary of it, but it's very easy to tow.

My microwave plugs into a regular outlet, no special electical current needed?? the only appliance I have ever heard of needing more power is an electric stove.

You are correct, there is no special plug or significant current draw from a consumer grade microwave. The in-room hair dryer provided by Disney uses more.
As for "blowing fuses", if a small microwave trips a circuit breaker there is either something terribly wrong with it or with the room's wiring. Fuses are not used in any Disney hotel as Florida has outlawed them for use in new construction decades ago. Circuit breakers are now protecting things.

I wouldn't lose much sleep over a resort neighbor using a microwave. You have more chance of being bitten by a rattlesnake at your resort than being injured by the smell of Orville Redenbacher. :sad2:

have you gone to the budget board yet? they have all kinds of swaps there, fridges, toasters, strollers and probably microwaves too. search the stickies at the top for what you need. good luck

Just how hot do you need that medication? Will warm work? Can you just warm it up in hot water in the sink? or does it have to be boiling? How about using a small hot pot or coil heater in a cup of water?

I obviously don't know anything about your medication (what kind of container it's in, whether it has to be mixed with boiling water, etc.), but couldn't you run water through the coffee maker and set the medication in it to heat? That's how a friend of mine heated her granddaughter's bottle when she didn't have a microwave. I'm assuming here that values have coffee makers, but I don't know for sure.

Were you aware when you booked the room that it didn't have a microwave  I'd be concerned about the load it would put on the electrical system

Oh come on guys, it's a microwave, not a major appliance. My flat iron probably pulls as much electricity as a 700 watt small microwave not to mention a 1500 watt hairdryer is more than 2 x that! OP I hope you get your microwave. Expecting you to walk to the Main Building and chastising you for booking a value is plain rude imo. You need a microwave. For a medical reason. Call the Hotel directly and I'm sure they'll either get you one or allow you to bring one.

Good luck.

I just posted on another thread earlier.
I take a SMALL MW to WDW everytime we are not on FD, which is every trip other than Sep.

We have never blown any fuses, or started any fires.
Nor have we ever had anyone tell us it is not allowed.

We do not hide it from mousekeeping and they have never said we cannot have it in the room.

We also take along a dorm-sized fridge since WDW's cost $10/day for something smaller than a breadbox! :rotfl:

Never had a problem or comment concerning either appliance.

Microwaves plug into a regular outlet--nothing special needed. Coffee pots and hair dryers require more electricity than a small microwave. There is no electrical reasons why not to have one.

As far as bothering smells to the neighbors--are you kidding me? Seriously, its a small microwave to heat medication, they're not cooking a 5 course meal! Surely can't be more bothersome than the kids running by your room yelling and making all kinds of noise!

As far as bringing a small microwave of your own--is this against Disney rules? I don't recall them ever saying "You shall not bring a microwave into a value resort." How on earth are we suggesting that the OP "get around Disney rules."

OP--I hope you are able to get everything worked out and they are able to supply a microwave for you. If not, you may want to consider getting one of the small ones and bringing it yourself. You do not need to hide it from housekeeping because you are not breaking any rules--at least that I have ever heard of!

Geesh--I also apologize for all of the negative comments you've had to read--you asked a simple question.

I think I'm going to get one of those little cube ones. They barely draw any power. I'll set my meds with it so it won't be confused with "cooking." I have no plan of cooking anything in the rooms, but geeze the Best Western had a microwave, frig and coffee pot and cost less than value. Disney needs to get with the program and stop treating people like 3rd class people booking the resorts!

Just a thought - in place of a microwave, how about a baby bottle warmer.
They are small enough to pack and inexpensive, and it would not take long to warm your meds.

1) Because Disney has different rules.
2) You have a choice of staying at Disney or Best Western or where ever.
3) Either abide by the rules, or go elsewhere.
4) It is that simple.

NOTE: I like the no-microwave rule. I do not want to go into a room and smell days-old popcorn or other food that was prepared in the microwave.

I'm not cooking...I need it to heat medication. Geez!

Respectfully, sometimes compromises need to be made. As the Guest, you (general you) know a certain hotel chain meets all your needs, but another hotel chain only meets your needs if you reserve certain room categories/types. Reasonable options would be to stay at a hotel that meets your needs (since many do), not to attempt to adapt a non-qualifying room.

You know Best Western has microwaves and refrigerators, so it's reasonable to stay at Best Western. You know the Family Suites and the DVC properties at Walt Disney World include microwaves and refrigerators, so it's reasonable to stay at one of those properties. Given that Disney does have units that meet your needs, it's more reasonable to stay in one of those than to expect Disney to provide or allow an electrical appliance not standard in the room in which you did choose to stay.

Well, since we can't afford Family Suite (and I doubt they let two people in a suite) nor do we belong to DVC. I guess the comprimise would be that we don't come to Disney at all any more. FW has priced itself above Value when Value has discounts.

I think it's time to move on and go to another place that meets our needs.

I am very sorry to hear this. :sad2: Did you contact the hotel directly? I wouldn't let the posts on this thread discourage you. You have a medical necessity, same as a disability, and disabilities should be accommodated by any hotel.

Please give Disney the opportunity to make this right for you.
