Got a call at 7AM from "Microsoft Support", could not understand why I was getting a call from India. He asked me to turn on my computer and I said "NO", so he hung up.
Be careful folks, I thought it had to do with support for WindowsXP, but I was careful and did not disclose any information.

I received two of those calls and they asked me about my computer. My answer was which one, I then told them I knew it was a scam and do not call me again, They went away. No more calls since.

I love the Microsoft scam calls because all the regularly-used computers in my household are Mac or Linux as the primary operating system. :lmao: They don't know what to say when I share that information.

We got the same call. Actually one of my teens answered when I wasn't home and was smart enough to hang up on them before giving any information. My kid sounds VERY young on the phone and it makes me so mad that these scammers would even try to get info out of a young child!

Thanks for the heads up! But how did you know it was from India? Did the caller use an international phone number? Or the caller had a foreign accent?

Hey, I found similar complaints posted on Callercenter.com along with the scammers' phone number. There were different area codes located all over US. What was the phone number of the scammer that called you?

I don't have caller ID but it was a foreign accent and he hung up on me when I said I would not turn on my computer or give him a time to call back. It was 7AM EDT...

I just hang up, but my husband strung one along for 20 minutes (he must have been bored) before getting the scammer to hang up (and swear at him!) My husband said "when he is on the phone with me, he isn't scamming someone who doesn't know better - and he's paying for the phone connection."

Seems like those calls are picking up again. My MIL got a bunch of them a few years ago and so did we, but now suddenly I'm hearing about them again.

I actually love these calls! I pretend that they just told me I won a trip to Disney:rotfl2:, then I start screaming and crying and get the kids on the phone:rotfl2:. The kids love it!

I received the call today. The phone number was 206-777-1016, and my cell phone said it was from Washington state. Tried calling the number and it said it was disconnected.

206 number is scary b/c people might think it IS Microsoft. Not knowing that Redmond is 425 area code.

DH just got one of them from 469 area code.

I got this call a few months ago. The guy was screaming at me saying some crazy group in a different country was going to hack my computer If I didn't give him my info. I hung up and he called back!!!!!! They are very intimidating. I left the phone off the hook for a few hours after that second call.

I have had a couple of these.

The first time it threw me off guard. He said there was something wrong with my computer and I said, "Oh, what is wrong with it." Then he started telling me to turn it on and I told him it was on. He said to go to some site and I asked again what could possibly be wrong with my computer. He had no answer, just kept telling me to go to a site.

I finally asked who he worked for and he said Microsoft. I said, "Great, then I will call YOU where there is an actual problem with my computer, but right now there is nothing wrong."

He finally got frustrated and told me I was going to get hacked and hung up on me.

Second time I just said, "nope, nothing wrong, bye" and hung up.

Dawn

my DH just got a call last nite--

he said it was a thick middle eastern accent--probably India:rotfl2:

same story--issue with computer--DH was on the computer at the time and said everything is working great and hung up

first and only call so far--

now if I can get the credit card lowering people to stop calling--

what I do now is hit whatever to talk to someone and when they come on the line I hang up on them--more like slam the phone down--

I hang up on them before they hang up on me--there so rude and don't listen to anything you have to say!!!

of course slamming the phone down only works on a corded phone otherwise youre just hanging up on them:rotfl2:

just for the look out

watch out for the "grandparents" scam

my folks got called twice same story both times

caller--this is your oldest grandson--Im in Canada and just got arrested or in an accident or something along those lines

my mom said this doesn't sound like you (well now they know my mom has a grandson--

caller Im talking funny cause in the accident I hit my mouth:rotfl2:

then they procede to tell you where to send money--both times it was in Canada

my mom took down the info--a few hours later the idiot calls back saying you didn't wire the money yet

my mom said that's right and Im not going to!!!

she just wanted the info to turn over to the police!!!

my mom pretty sharp for 83!!!

so be careful

thanks for the warning

If I have time I pretend to be a deaf old lady, "What? My windows? You want to clean my windows? Well you'd better bring a ladder, I live on the third floor!" Then I make an obscene comment about their mother and hang up. I figure if they are calling to scam me I can screw up their talk times and make them get yelled at by their scammer managers.;)

Try this:

Hi , yes I am very concerned. I will need your help!
Oh wait !!!! My doorbell is ringing ! I'll be right back !

( Leave the phone off the hook for as long as it takes for them to hang up ! LOL

Got that Microsoft call as well twice. Each time they called at 7:00 Am. Second time I asked why he was calling again at 7AM. He said because of the emergency with my computer. I told him to stop calling me with this stupidity. He said something nasty and hung up!

I received one a few weeks ago identifying themselves as my "computer support service". My reply to them wasn't very nice. It amounted to "BS" and take this number off your list and don't try this cr*p again. Haven't heard back since.
