Microsoft Outlook 2003 question

I just upgraded to Outlook 2003 (Office 2003 package) and I was wondering if there was a setting someplace to set when a new email is considered "read". Right now it will stay marked "unread" unless I open it completly, not just look at it in the preview pane or delete it. I can do it manually but with my old outlook I could set it to be marked "read" after so many seconds after clicking on the message in the inbox without opening it. I can't find a "settings" tab or anything like that.
