Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

We did MVMCP in 2001, I think on a Sunday, and it wasn't bad back then. But, that was 4 years ago and like others have said, it seems the party is becoming more popular.

We'll be at WDW Dec 16-24 with me, DH, my mom, and DS who will be 2 1/2 at the time. We're doing the party on the 20th because it fits the best in our schedule. I know it's the last party, but I'm hoping that since it's in the middle of the week that it won't be *too* bad. Last year the last part sold out, but it was also on a Friday. This year the last party is on a Tuesday.

O.K. I have been searching and cannot find what I need to know.
What is Popwarner? When exactly is it? We are staying at POFQ, the 3rd- the 10th. Should we move it up? We usually go in October, this year we wanted to do the Christmas party instead. Thanks for any info.

I asked how they affected the crowds and I guess they don't, except if you are staying in a value or moderate resort. They like to swim a lot, use the food courts and cheer late at night. THis is all what I heard, I have no experience of it.
We decided to keep our plans as they were, as we are staying in a house off site.

Pop Warner is a youth football and cheerleading competition at WDW from Dec 3-9 or 10. I've read lots about it (we're also going in Dec) and mostly the kids don't impact crowd levels at the parks, but do impact Value and some Moderate resorts. Some have reported an occasional annoying experience with them in the parks. We're going with DD5 who is very aware of what older kids around her say and do. Call us protective..... we're going Dec 11-16. (pop warner isn't the only reason, but it did factor into our decision)

I was so excited to see this thread with the dates, that Bruce came running into the room...and stated "oh, with all your screaming and yelling, I thought something major had happened!" Uggh...doesn't he realize that the release of these dates is something major! I can see he needs more disneyizing...

Anyhoo...I think we are going to go Nov 29th and Dec 1st...do lots of people go twice during their stay, and for those of you who have...would you say it's worth paying for twice?

These dates fit in perfectly with having to watch football Sunday and Monday nights (Saints and Steelers respectively)...that was my compromise for the trip...sigh....

Just thought I'd check in with the boards. I've been very busy raising our butterflies (or what will be butterflies) and I haven't been on the boards in a week or two. I know I've read that they MVMCP tics went on sale 5/1 last year. Has anyone heard anything? We are going 12/4 - 12/14. Hoping to get tickets for 12/11. I've already bought my boys some great hats off ebay, including ones for MVMCP. They are christmas trees with Disney character ornaments hanging off. Very cute and cheap. YEA!!

We called today to set our PS for Hoop-Dee-Doo and we asked about the MVMCP tickets and the CM said to check back on Monday.

I'm hoping the tickets go on sale that day and I hope the dates we've been given are solid, because our last day is the 19th and we'd so love to have our last night in Disney be at the MVMCP. Can't think of a better way to end a great vacation.

Well I'm doing the happy dance because my Disney Rewards card just came in. It is burning a hole in my pocket because I'm holding on to it to buy our MVMCP tickets for the 4th. (Note to self - must not go to Disney Store - must NOT go!)

I think you should be allowed to go three times for having to watch the Saints.
I have never been twice, but we wanted to go a second time during our honeymoon last year and the night we were looking at seemed to be sold out. I am hoping we can hit it twice this year though, with the AP discount that is supposed to happen.

It's an Annual Pass ticket to Disney World. They get lots of discounts and this year they get 25% off of the MVMCP/MNSSHP tickets on day of purchase price (gate price).

does this mean that if we have a AP (or voucher for an AP) that I would have to wait until the day OF the even & I can't buy my tickets for MVMCP when they first go on sale?

You can buy tickets ahead of time, but you ONLY get the AP discount when you buy tickets the day of the party.

Hmm.....now what to do......the discount would DEFINATELY be a great way to talk DH into a mini-break in December (especially if we get at least ONE AP).....well, then there is always the room discount availability then to use as a negotiation tool

There is a debate though that remains to be seen yet, since this is the first time they are offering the discount, if you can buy them ahead of time and get the discount off the same day price and not the advance price.

No one will really know until they are for sale and see what happens.

Rumor here has it that the tickets may still go on sale May 1. Some have had success getting that info out of CMs but not me!

Some have even gotten MNSSHP dates and prices but when I tried to get the prices for MVMCP this morning I got an abrupt and rude CM telling me not to believe what I read or hear. She wouldn't provide me with any info at all. I got the feeling they are back-peddling from the info given to some last night...probably bombarded with many calls!! It's only going to get worse on May 1!!

If they're going on sale May 1, that means I have to make a *decision*, which I seem to be incapable of doing. So since I can't seem to do it on my own, will you help?
Should we go to MVMCP on December 18th (Sunday) or December 20th (Tuesday, last party). Either works fine for our schedule.
Can't seem to decide which is likely to be less crowded.

Some say the last party is one of the most crowded, but I don't think it was on a Tuesday in recent years.

Another thing to consider is if you choose the last MVMCP and the weather is miserable, you have nothing to fall back on. If you go Sunday and it pours, there's a chance you might get to go Tuesday (if it's not sold out).

I read earlier that it was taped on Saturday a week after Thanksgiving is that the traditional day they tape. That would be fun to watch and our first full day will be the 3rd of December. If I can remember correctly (from when I lived in Orlando), they DO tape it the first Saturday in December, which this year would be the 3rd. It takes them a while to film it, since they get to stop and have "do overs". I typically tried to avoid taping day, since it was ALWAYS a mob scene.

I too agree the world is NOT fair....my parents will be in WDW in 6 weeks, and I have to wait until September

Anyone have any suggestions as to the risk factor for waiting to buy tickets? I'm not planning on waiting until the actual day to buy. However, we're either going the week of 11/27 or 12/4. Even if we nail down which week relatively soon, we still may not nail down the actual days. For example, if we pick the week fo 11/27, we may not actually leave on that Sunday as that's the Sunday after Thanksgiving so airfare may be higher that day. If it's cheaper to wait until that Tuesday to leave, we'll do that and just have a Tuesday through Tuesday vacation. How long is too long to wait to buy the tickets though?
