LOL - Yea, HURRY! You have to finish before I leave! ;)

Seriously - great AKL pics, I miss it there. That's definitely the May trip resort.

Ohh boy I LOVVE the pics of the AKL. We have reservations at Boma when we go down so Im going to ask someone to give us a tour of the rooms because it is where I've always wanted to stay!! .. cant wait for more! .. if your looking for some to give that calendar to --> ill take it! haha :rotfl2:

November 16th:

We woke up pretty late. Probably around 9am. It felt superb! We were well rested and ready to go! :moped:

We had ADR's at 1900 park fare and I was pretty pumped. I had heard such wonderful things and I really wanted to get a move on. We ended up taking a taxi because we were running late but it wasn't expensive.

Finally we arrived at the Grand Floridian. While I can understand some people find this to be the....creme de la creme, it isn't for me. Something about it just screams pretentious to me. Sorry, I by no means want to insult anyone who stays at the resort I'm not calling YOU pretentious, I just...I get that feel from the hotel and hotel staff.

Regardless, it is very beautiful. I was excited because they had their famous gingerbread house up! How cool! I had no idea it would be up so early.

PB150927.jpg

Then we made it over to breakfast. There was a small wait but we were seated quickly. We waited for our waitress. I had never had a mimosa and wanted to try one...we waited.......and waited.........and waited.......waited some more. 20 MINUTES LATER after requesting her from other servers various times she came over. She was the worst waitress I have ever had. I used to be a waitress, I know what service is and what service isn't. It was bad...we kept joking around with Alice how we saw her infinitely more then the waitress. Jay ordered a milkshake that he never received. :confused3 My Mimosa came with big lumps of pulp- yuck! However, I did enjoy the strawberry soup!

The characters were a lot of fun though, especially the Mad Hatter. Every few minutes he would just scream at the top of his lungs "TEA!!! TTTTTTTTTTEAAAAAAAAAAAA!! I WANT TEA!" He was great with Jay, who adores this character.

PB150928.jpg

I asked him to take a picture with me as well and he answered, "My she's bossy. Just like the queen!" :rotfl:

A little while later Tigger made his way over. He took me away from Jay for a little stroll around the restaurant. Apparentely, I'm Tiggers type :lmao:

PB150931.jpg

We also met Pooh and Alice. I couldn't believe how small Alice was. I'm 5'3" and I would say I was at least a foot taller then her. She was sweet, but didn't really say much. We could have met Mary Poppins in the front but to be quite honest, it really wasn't worth the wait.

The food was okay, but again it was breakfast food. We preferred the O'hana character breakfast, but again, to each their own.

After waiting another 20 minutes for our check Jay started getting silly. I kept snapping pictures and he got a bit annoyed so kept making silly faces

PB160937.jpg

Finally our check arrived! We explored the resort a bit more and ventured back to the gingerbread house. It looked so good I had to try some. I got a cookie.....it was $8.00!!!! Geez, that's a lot for 1 cookie. I wouldn't have gotten it. Whatever the case, it really wasn't that good. That Royal Icing that they use is as hard as a rock, you could break your tooth on it. Beware of the royal icing!

We decided to take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. There was still tons of attractions we hadn't done yet.

Once arriving at the kingdom we decided to go to Adventureland first as we hadn't really done anything here yet. Then I saw it.....The Dole Whip. If there's one thing I've heard about CONSTANTLY on these boards, it's the whip. I knew the time was here and if I didn't get it now I never would, regardless of how full I was, I was getting it!

PB160950.jpg

To be honest with you, it was bad. Real bad. I threw it out after one more sip. I don't get it. Sorry to disappoint anyone looking foward to it though...lots of people do like it.

There was a long line for Jungle Cruise so we got fastpasses and then went to see the Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management. I loved it! Really I did! I also love the Hall of Presidents though so.....you never know with me. I thought it was very cute. It's by no means something to wait a long time for but with no line I'd definitely say it's worth it to see.

It was already time for our fastpasses for jungle cruise so we went to ride. We had a great boat driver. I think it's really imperative to have a good host for this ride or it ruins the whole experience. Last year while we rode we had some girl who kept grumblign that "it's a good thing she graduated with an english degree in college so she could work on this boat at disney". Thanks for spoiling the fun! Not this guy though- he got into it! He was great. We had a great time.

After this we rode Thunder Mountain again. Fun ride, but don't sit in the front. It's a whole lot tamer and a whole lot slower. Not nearly as fun as sitting in the middle or back.

We made our way over to Splash but it was shut down for a little while...it looked like it was going to lightning so, I'm assuming that's why.

Defeated we decided to see The Country Bears. I also love this show. It's so cute. I just wish the sound quality was a little better. I would never miss it though.

Next up- phillharmagic. Again. I LOVE this show. This is something worth waiting for. It was a full house and it was actually really nice seeing it that way because all of the "ooooooohing" and "aaaaaaahhhhhhhing" of the people seeing it for the first time.

PB160954.jpg

We just kind of walked around at this point. Jay was hungry and I was a little bit too so we ate lunch at the Columbia Harbour House. I'm happy we did! It was so nice in there. Not crowded, it was a complete escape from the parks. We had a nice long lunch, just relaxing. I had the best tunafish sandwich I've ever had in my life. Yum! Much better than Pecos Bills! Definitely eat here.

After lunch we rode Peter Pan. It really is a very cute ride. It never gets old to me.

We decided we'd see the afternoon parade and then go to EPCOT.

While waiting I was able to get a pretty nice shot of the castle.

PB160963.jpg

The parade was cute. The last time we saw it they were in snow globes. This time they got rid of the snow globes but kept the same floats. To make up for it they put a whole bunch of randomn characters in the parade! I really enjoyed this parade!

Up Next: Our day/evening at EPCOT and Jiko!

WOW! I just read your whole trip report (so far) today and it's GREAT! Thanks so much for sharing the little details! I'm going to go read your dining report too.

We were at WDW 11/7 - 11/15, and I'm guessing that since you mentioned super soap and the last weekend of food & wine that we overlapped at some point. It was definitely COLD at night, wasn't it?

I'm so glad that you mentioned the singers in the Beauty & The Beast pre-show. We love them! They weren't at the show we saw on this trip and I was afraid they were gone completely. I'm thrilled that they aren't gone.

Oh, and one more thing. I would've been FURIOUS if someone put their kid above or on my head during a parade. I'm a mom, and would NEVER do that! I know that I have to plan ahead if I want my kids to have a good view. And even if we DO have a good view, if there's room, I'll offer a spot for other little ones. But I would never ever assume that my kids should be treated any different than an adult. (sorry for the rant...that got me fired up that someone would do that!)

Can't wait for more! Thanks again!

just wanted to say, great trip report! Can't wait to read the rest of it. Also wanted to say wish you and your DF the best of luck with your future :thumbsup2

DW has this exact same shirt and camera case... had to do a double take the first time I saw it :rotfl:

PB140692.jpg

My 2yo daughter jumped on my lap when she saw pictures of WDW. When we got to this picture she started saying "Mine, Mine, Mine". At first I had no idea what she was doing--then I realized and laughed so hard. We just got back last week. Every time we passed the Living Seas, she would say "Mine, Mine, Mine".

Great TR! DH and I did a similar trip 7 years ago for our 1 year anniversay. Your TR brought back great memories--memories of going to WDW and just doing what we wanted to--not worring about entertaining the kids!

Thanks again!

that pic of jay kicking his heels up is so funny! it made me LOL!

I also love Ohana's and Lapu Lapu's and the Poly btw...

THAT WAS A HUGE CROWD behind you at Epcot, sista!! WOWZA! I have been in Aug and free dining and at the begining of FWF but have NEVER seen it so busy in WS!!! My golly!!!

Looks like you two were having a great time...congrats on the wedding and can't wait to see-hear more :thumbsup2

I must say I started reading your TR way late in the game (I just started and I have only read through page 3 so far). I am loving your TR. I can see a lot of similarities, but also a LOT of differences between mine and your trip. HAHAH! Neither my boyfriend or I are romantic. But I love hearing about your adventures (not the word I want, but I can't think of the word I want). I actually think you and I are fairly similar people.

For a bit of comments about your TR besides praises:
First off, I think you are absolutely adorable. I wish I was as skinny as you are. Someday I will be! :)
I can't believe you are on vacation and still ordering Bacardi and diets (my drink of choice also, though I like a twist of lime in mine). Common you coulda tried a couple other things. ;) How much does a Bacardi and diet run down there anyways?
I totally agree with you on 'Ohana dinner and the Lapu Lapu. 'Ohana is romantic and is very good.
You review of MVMCP made me really wanna do it. But our trip, I couldn't get my bf to stay in parks late, therefore I don't think he'd make it through MVMCP. Oh well. I will get my kicks and joy out of reading yours.

Anyways, it's nightnight time for me, so I will continue reading your report tomorrow. Then on to the dining reports!

BTW I'd like to add something that someone else commented on. I'm not sure how old you are, but you can't be much older than me (actually you are probably younger) and I love reading reports from people in my age range. It makes me excited. :grouphug:

:wave2: I just found your report and I am glad I did! I am loving it and can't wait for the next installment

BTW, your DF is such a sweetie! The glass slipper was such a wonderful thing to do for you :thumbsup2

KimWim18- how hard is it to be home? Blah! I wish I could live at Disney. Yes, it was very cold at night! You missed the worst of it though...it kept getting colder and colder and colder every night till the end of our trip. During the day we were wearing sweatshirts towards the end! As for teh woman with the kid I just couldn't believe it. I LOVE KIDS, but sometimes parents can be a bit extreme. Thank god most aren't but...some just get a little overwhelmed with all the excitement I guess :confused3 Anyway, thanks so much for reading!

Lucky82061- thanks so much for reading. That's really funny about the shirt and camera case...I love that shirt!

BlakeNJ- That's priceless about your daughter....how cute! Thanks so much for reading!

Disfan3- thanks for reading! Jay loves taking flamboyant pictures. He doesn't embarass easily...the only picture I have trouble making him take is with the troll in Norway for whatever reason?? As for that crowd.it was SCARY. The lines for food were outrageous...thankfully not as many people enjoy liquor as much as food :rolleyes1

Beckwhy- thanks so much for reading and for your response. Thanks for your kind words! As for my bacardi and diets I usually also get lime in mine! :goodvibes As for why I don't venture out with my liquor is a lot of other liquors give me hangovers and I don't drink beer/wine, but I always make an exception at EPCOT :thumbsup2 Drinks were expensive......I'm not sure exactly how much, but I'm used to them being expensive because when we usually drink it's in Manhattan so the prices are insane. I LOVE O'hana. We had such a great time there. I really think it's all the romance that you yourself put into it  I'm also happy that you're enjoying the read!

Meeko- thanks for viewing!

NewOrleansLady-thanks for your response! I love that slipper! He's so sweet sometimes.

Never once have I been in Manhattan and gotten expensive drinks. Generally I spend around $3 - $4 on drinks there. I'm not sure how much they cost at a place like... Bobby Flay's or Mario Batali's restaurants, I've never eatten at them. But oh well.. I'm hoping our next trip to get more drinks. There are a lot in Epcot I want to try.

Speaking on hangovers... one night we went to a bar downtown my city... and I ordered a diet & rum and it was one shot of rum and one shot of coke. EWWWWW! OMG! My boyfriend (Eric) was like, "See Nate (the bartender) makes them good down here!" I'm like, "I WANT SOMETHING I CAN SIP ON!"
Along those lines.. and your stories of drinks that are 98% alcohol... Don't try the Backscratcher at 'Ohana. It is also like drinking straight alcohol. And my boyfriend is a liquor drinker (Goldschlager being his favorite... his last name rhymes with it)... and he had a hard time drinking the Backscratcher.

BTW how did that Fiesta Margi hit you? When I drank mine, but the time I was done I had a good buzz going on!

Omg!! .. that is ridiculous!! First of all don't they understand that adults are obviously going to Disney World to enjoy themselves too! If your going to save up all that money and plan a trip to Disney then you should enjoy yourself. Adults like disney as much as kids. if ANYTHING the adults are going to appreciate and enjoy everything more then the kids! . . . maybe I am biased because I never went as a kid but I know that if I did my parents would NEVER let me get special treatment just because I was little. If i dont get to sit up front on the monorail I will cry! Plus I dont have a sympathetic bone in my body .. its MY trip and i WILL enjoy it .. so despite the crying children I will still get to ride up front!! AND I WILL GET MY MONORAIL LICENSE! ... im only 18 so technically last year I was still a child... and i dont really consider myself an adult in ANY way.. but .. I can cry A LOT louder then their kids can!! :rotfl2: I wish everyone there was a diser and was nice and understanding. I mean I will try my hardest to be nice but i WILL enjoy my vacation .. i have waited 18 years to go to WDW! .. okay i promise Im not as mean as I sound.. :rotfl2: Im really not .. I just dont like when people feel that they are superior to otherS!!

Okay moving on ... YAY i cannot wait for you to post all yours pictures and the rest of your report.. what will I do when its over!! Oh no!! .. you will have to go again .. ASAP! :rotfl2:

Ok.. again I'm late into the convo.. I'm gonna add my two sense now.

See unlike you lovely, sweet ladies... I will keep my mouth shut... if it continues I was say something politely.. and if it doesn't stop.. neither do I. And my temper can be as red as my hair. This whole "my child, my child, my child...." NoNoNoNoNoNoNo... I'm sorry.. where I am from, its every man for himself.

I hate it when people think that they should get this or that... I hate this whole parents screaming at their kids.. or other people for that matter. If you are gonna scream at your kids, take them someplace out of the public. You know why people do that, scream in public? Its to show they have more "power." Yeah right.. Power to be a jack&#@. I am a person, that no matter where I am... if I see someone treating a child in a matter in which I see unfit (generally screaming doesn't do it for me.. they have to grab them or be violent with them) I will say something to them. I generally get the "mind your own business..." but I like the whole, "if I can see or hear it, it is my business." Of course I, myself was required by law to report anything that I felt unfit (perks of working in a school).

I like to comment to people who do... whats the word... people who act more appropriately or considerately to others. And I make a point of being very loud about it so everyone else can hear me. (Not that the people who are being inconsiderate think anything of it... cuz I'm sure they think they aren't doing anything wrong.)

As for the "saving the seat thing." I'm not sure how I feel about that yet, because I haven't had to deal with it. But I probably can say.. Eric is tall, and I don't think when we do stuff we really pay attention to what we are doing (of course we never went and sat infront of someone who was shorter than him and couldn't see). Eric got really annoyed when we were watching Wishes and the man in front of us picked up his kid and put him on his shoulders. Generally, this doesn't bother me or Eric. Except the guy was standing on Eric's feet (figuratively, not literally) and there wasn't much place to move.

It's SO hard to be home! I miss it so much that I'm still holding on to my last installment on my trip report because I don't want THAT to be over too. :sad2: I love your report. I definitely want to go back to WDW just DH and I to do a lot more drinking there!! But for now, I'll just settle for living vicariously through you guys! :teeth:

I just found your TR and read the entire thing! How great of a writer are you???!!!!!??? I'm enjoying this soooo much! You're getting me pumped up for my trip! One quick question - I know you mentioned the $8 gingerbread cookie (OH MY GOSH!) by any chance did you happen to notice how much the gingerbread houses are??? DS is really wanting to get one but after hearing $8 for a cookie I'm almost afraid to ask about the houses! :sad2:
Can't wait to hear more!
Melissa

Thanks so much for everyone's responses!

BeckWhy- I'm suprised you're able to get such inexpensive drinks. We do however usually go to clubs/lounges and they run around $10-12/drink. That's a lot of rum for that little bit of coke! I'll make sure to avoid the backscrather- not my kind of thing...at all. Also, I felt verrrrrry nice after my fiesta margarita. Somehow El Rio del Tiempo was never so enjoyable.

KimWim- it is hard being home. If I wasn't planning our wedding I'd be going nuts right now!

hookedonthemagic- thanks so much for your kind words and for reading. However, I'm unsure how much the houses are, I'd assume somewhere between 30 and 50 but that's really just a guess. I hope they aren't that expensive though. Let me know! I'm so jealous that you leave so soon!

Sorry for the delay everyone, I've been a tad bit busy.

Anyway....

We finished watching the parade and made our way to the monorail. We rode in the front which was so nice and met a nice couple that we talked to the whole way. I really enjoyed this ride and would suggest doing so if possible.

Once we arrived we noticed the oh so cute topiary. I thought this was sooo adorable.

PB161036.jpg

We decided to go over to the UK and go to the rose n crown for a much needed respite from the theme park mayhem. We got a round and just relaxed on one of the outdoor tables talking and reflecting on our day so far.

PB161039.jpg

We walked around for a long time just exploring all that EPCOT has to offer which is pretty much endless. We spent so much of our time here and always found new things to do. We noticed there was a Gingerbread House in the American counter service. I love all the Christmas details we found throughout the parks!

PB161040.jpg

We relaxed around Italy for a bit and watched one of the shows that they do. We decided to go to Mexico for margaritas. They are SOOOOOOOO good! We rode El Rio del Tiempo margaritas on board. The ride was never so enjoyable :rolleyes1

PB161048.jpg

We perused the gift shop for a little while and I found the first purse I ever owned as a little girl which I thought was crazy. I mean I had this in the early 80's! Now I know where my parents bought it.

This was followed by a quick trip to Norway and Maelstrom. After sufficientely embarrasing Jay by making him take this picture........

PB161047.jpg

we started realizing how late it was and that we better make it back to our resort or we wouldn't have adequate enough time to relax and then go to dinner followed by a night at Jelllyrolls that I was pumped for :thumbsup2 We had planned to go to Jellyrolls last trip but skipped out because we were tired and there was no way I was missing it this time!

We made it to the best stop and were able to get on pretty quickly which is always a plus.

We made it back to our room and spent a little while looking at our beloved animals but there was none to be seen. Blast! We called downstairs and apparentely thery were seeing the Vet for a weekly check up.

We decided to still sit out and relax and eventually tore ourselves away to get ready for dinner at Jiko. What a beautiful restaurant! It's soooooo romantic there. Really, it's worth it for the ambience alone.

PB161060.jpg

There was a bit of a wait so we sat at the bar and met a nice couple that we talked about snow with. Randomn, I know.

Eventually we were sat right next to the window which overlooks a beautiful pond. Score! It really added to the whole atmosphere.

The food was pretty good. Definitely different and definitely a must do at least one time. We had a great time but by the time dinner was over we were EXHAUSTED. I mean, falling at the sleep at the table kind of exhausted. I really don't even remember the end of this night and I wrote notes the next day! All we knew was, we weren't making it to Jellyrolls :guilty: Oh well.

We made it back to our hotel after a wonderful night and had a very fulfilling and much needed full night of sleep :cloud9:

another great installment! Your making me really want to go next christmas. It looks sooo nice at xmas time!! I also though it was really cute that the animals were all having there weekly checkup. Sorry you didnt make jellyrolls.. maybe next time!
