Mickey's PhilharMagic - worth an extra day to see?

My boys (5 and 8) are really big into music. They watch Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 over and over and over. I noticed that Mickey's PhilharMagic is closed while we are there, set to reopen the day after we leave.

I've also seen several places (books and boards) warning that any of the 4D attractions might be too much for my little guy.

We've never been to Disney and I don't see a return trip in our near future, so the question is:

Is Mickey's PhilharMagic so good that we should stay an extra day to see it? (Hotel is available and I wouldn't mind a night's sleep before we start the 21hour drive home and the extra cost for another day's worth of tickets for the four of us is around $12 - so that's less than taking us all to a regular movie back home.)

MOST DEFINITELY! This is our favorite attraction, it is so amazing!! I don't know why anyone would say it's too scary for kids I can't think of anything scary about it. It's our family favorite and I'd make sure to stay an extra day to see it! My kids have been loving it since they were 2 and 3!

I would say yes. It was one of my DD's favorite things when she was 5 and she can't wait to see it again (and again and again) this coming trip when she'll be 7. IMO, it is one of the best 3D shows in the parks. With the addition of an extra day being so little and the hotel being available and you being open to another night... I'd say do it!!!

Absolutely - no doubt...it is one of the BEST ride/shows there....

Mickey's Philharmagic is a top attraction for everyone in my family even my DH. Compared to the other 3D shows this one is very tame. It hasn't scared any of my children. I have heard other kids that were crying, though. Try the Muppets at DHS. It is comparable. It's Tough to be a Bug (AK) and Honey, I Shrunk...(EP) are scary for some adults.

Hi if thats all you have to pay then yes its awesome,not scary at all. Its seems more about donald tho. He is in the movie with little mermaid and aladdin and its really just a great show . we all love it! its bits and parts of different movies and donalds going thru them, beauty and the beast too.

I really like this attraction. With that being said, I don't know if it is good enough to change your plans. I'm not sure any attraction is really.

If you want to stay an extra day and can afford both financially and time wise, I say go for it. I wouldn't do it just to see this attraction.

Oh it's one of our FAVORITES! I think if you tell them ahead of time that there will be alittle air blowing and a little spritz of water, it wouldn't bother them, but only you would know if they can handle it. I just know that I will never miss it no matter how many times we go!

My family was just talking about this last night. We've never seen it and we have no idea why.

I think it's on our "to do" list this time for sure.

Although we love it, I noticed it is a very loud attraction. That might be the only problem when you have small children.

I don't know if it's worth stayign an extra day, but it sounds like the extra morning in the park might be better for you anyway so I'd go for it. I don't think it will scare kids your age. My 3 year old got scared - there was a storm scene I think where it got loud and kind of dark and he didn't like the water squirting on him. He jumped on my lap so hard he knocked my sunglasses into the lap of the woman behind me! But he made it through and wasn't scarred like he would have been on something like Pirates.

We also LOVE this attraction. DD saw it at age 4 and age 6 and absolutely loved it both times as did my DNephew who was 5 and went with us to WDW last May. I'll admit that this attraction always makes me a little teary eyed , just from seeing the sheer joy on my DD's face when she's watching it and reaching for things (3-D). It's great for adults too, especially if you love that duck as much as we do! This is always a must do for our family. Even DH loves it and he's one of those who can take Disney or leave it

By far, one of the best attractions!!!!!

My kids have been seeing it since it opened, including as infants and have never been scared. They love it, we all love it---plus, you'll get an extra day!!!

Go for it!!!

Thanks for the input. I think we'll just plan to stay for an extra day - well, maybe just the morning, long enough to see PhilharMagic and maybe one or two favorite things.

This is a spur of the moment trip, I only made reservations the first week of January, and we're leaving on the 28th (my family's first trip to WDW) and you all have been an incredible source of info - quick to respond - I don't know how I'd pull this off without you! Thank you!!!

It is 100% worth it !! the only time I have seen kids get upset (not scared) is when the water splashes them

I would say that it is a must do. Totally worth the extra day. Get there early, go do dumbo, a few more things in that area and hit Phillharmajic a few times and leave...I would not want to miss this at all. We were actually planning an earlier trip there, but then found out it would be closed, so we changed our dates.

As mentioned by PP, Muppets (DHS) is another fun and not-scary 3D.
