Ok, the way it was explained to me, the cards (the cheaper passport) is fine for now for sea travel, BUT if an emergency should happen you could NOT fly back into the US. My daughter wants to visit her friend in Canada and I keep saying not until she gets a passport, just in case! What if she got in car accident or something horrible happened, I'd want them to be able to fly her home. That being said, it's so rare that something will happen but you have to decide what is best for you. We are going for the full blown passports but as adults we'll have them for 10 years.

Sure, here's our info.

Yazee1 - Warren and Monica - Parents Only Cruise

Monica,

Welcome aboard. So excited you are going on a no-kids cruise. I love my kids (granted ours are older) but there is just something extra special about going away just you and hubby.

I couldn't agree with you more - I think after 15 or 16 the cards and passports last 10 years - then it just makes sense to get the whole booklet - who knows where you will be in 8-9 years?
Have a great day - I gotta run
Ben

Still snowing......in Indiana.....uhhhhh I just want some sunshine!

Blessngs
Ben

I'm so sorry your stuck in the snow. At least you can build snowmen and make snow angels and whalop the unsuspecting neighbor with a snowball, right? :teeth:

Usually, our area gets two or three big snows in the winter. This year has been a bust, though. Two piddly storms all winter. My sons want snow in the worst way! Every morning middle ds scours the newspaper's weather section for signs of snow on its way. Dh and I are not so keen on it though. He still has to go to work and our tractor's snow plow is not working. It need a costly repair. And, for some reason, the last time it snowed most of our chickens quit laying for almost 3 weeks!

For those of you new to cruising, you're already here, so maybe I'm preaching to the choir. Nevertheless, I will tell you why I think Dismeet thread friends are worth getting to know. First of all, that big ship becomes so much smaller (in a good way) when you have familiar faces onboard . Last time, we cruised, our Cruise Meet thread started 18 months in advance. By the time we were about 6 months out, there were so many of us on the thread, I started a Yahoo group to keep everyone straight on who was going, how many, where they wer from, how old, etc. There were two members in particular that I thought would make good tablemates, so I emailed these two families privately to ask if they wanted to link reservations for dinner. That turned out very well.

An unexpected advantage to having DisMeet thread friends - One could save your life. I wasn't exactly dying, but I was definitely heading for a blackout when my Dismeet angel came to my rescue. I was standing in line to check in (dh was still making his way to the port) at the port when she recognized me from our Yahoo group pictures and came over to say hi. What she didn't know was I was close to blacking out from low blood sugar (I'm hypoglycemic and once in a great while for no logical reason, I'll crash). She was so effusive and cheerful but all I could do was mumble an apology for seeming so dim and slow to recognize her. When I told her my blood sugar was very low, from her handbag, she immediately grabbed a blueberry, flax seed protein bar. Whew! My hero! I don't like blueberries but at that moment I didn't care!

I'm sure dh and I would be interested in a dismeet on the ship.

Monica,

DH and I too would love a dismeet. We've never done one and are excited to get to meet others. It's great to know someone before you actually cruise (like you are cruising with friends).

Thanks so much Tink! I'm watching the auction in "My Ebay." I never bid until the last several seconds. I almost always win, because the people who are bidding never see it coming and don't have enough time left to outbid me. ;)

I have decided to go for the passport books. The idea of being stuck and not being able to get on a plane if need be is enough to make me buy it!

My dad is doing as well as anyone who's just been told he has cancer, and if cured, may have a colostomy for the rest of his life. They are pulling out all the stops to help ensure he doesn't need the colostomy, but we won't know for sure until they actually go in and do surgery, which won't be for 3 months. He is going to have chemo and radiation first to try to shrink the tumor and lessen how much they will need to cut out. Thanks for asking.

Well - the kids did build a huge snowman Tuesday - the kids had a snow day and so I took the day off as well....but this dude is hugmongo - my 18 year old son had to push this thing up the air.....it stands over 9 feet tall...so that was fun. I am just ready for a change up in the weather. We normally head south for spring break. Our budget wont allow us to head south this year....so we are going to a low budget place in virginia.....at least its out of dodge! So I am trying to make my mind hopefuly by thinking about the sept trip.

hey Tink,
Sorry to hear about your Dad - I have lived with an illeostomy for over 20 years - but right now that is the lesser of your concerns. May you find grace in this difficult hour.

Blessings
Ben

Me and DBF would also be up for a DISmeet ::yes::

I stuck a LGMH on my Pal Mickey the whole time we were in WDW last August and I didn't see a single DISer :(

We might need another Yahoo group the way this thread is going!!

I stuck a LGMH on my Pal Mickey the whole time we were in WDW last August and I didn't see a single DISer :(

I just bought a sorcerer pal mickey off ebay last night for lil one. :woohoo: I always wanted one but couldn't afford the high price. I say it is for lil one but mom is probably going to end up stealing it. :rotfl:

TLP, I'll keep praying for your father. I have a friend who went through surgery for colon cancer and she was able to not have a colostomy bag. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. My boys' grandfather has prostate cancer and has just started radiation treatments. The prognosis is very hopeful. It was caught very early. And to change the subject now, Good luck on the auction!

So, I was in the freezer section of the grocery store yesterday and found they have mickey shaped pizzas. I got so very excited that I almost started danceing in the freezer section. Is there something wrong with me? :rotfl2: What can I say? It is the little things that make us happy right?

From all that I've been told and read we will have our vow renewal on the day at sea, which should be September 10th. I don't know what time yet, but it will be on deck 7, there is somewhere dedicated for this (i think near the front of the ship). They close it off so that it is private for your ceremony. I would love for my family to be there, but the only possiblity is our dd and that we wont' know until a lot closer. DS will be a senior in high school. He can't afford to take a week off. Our oldest son has been trying to get into the police, his wife is still new to her carreer so they most likely can't afford to take a week off (they will be going on a cruise with her parents as a Christmas gift in December). Yes it would be great if they could all attend, but right now this is being done very low budget (kind of like the first time, lol).

As they say, All you need is love. (And for your husband to understand your always right :teeth: )

Ok, I think I did it right, I created a yahoo group (my first time, I belong to many but never took this step, lol). If you all want to join, just go here:

September Wonder 2008

Now for those that have done this before, should the group be made private or public?

Hope this will be a good way to get to know each other before the cruise.

I have never been apart of a yahoo forum before so this should be interesting. I have a diffrent screenname on yahoo though. See you there!:hippie:

Keep it private or we will be Spammed.
