Not to be a budinski but I can answer your question Particia. If you go to Castawayclub .com it will tell you all about secret Porthole (and secret verhanda) rooms. I know I had wondered what the heck they were when I first heard about them.
A secret porthole room is sold as an inside stateroom because it has a partially blocked porthole window. ;)

I love the budinski comment! :lmao: My heritage is 100% polish, so I find that quite amusing!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Yep.......they are rooms with a porthole with an obstructed view.....they are sold as category 10 inside staterooms, so cheaper price, but still have the porthole with somewhat of a view...

Here's a link to view the "views"!! (I hope this works!)

We are in 5522!

:welcome: Kevin! Wow, ten cruises, that is quite impressive! I for one am quite jealous of that milestone. ;) Do you have any tips you would like to share?

Thanks Dawn and Karen,

That sounds great, you get a window without paying for it. Thanks a nice bonus. You may notice that your links 'got edited' If you post a link to 'another' site, the moderators will edit them. Dawn, you got the right idea, spacing it out so it's not a direct link. thanks though. Got to see those pics and now i know the 'secret'

49 days!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Welcome! This will be my 10th cruise also but only my 3rd with DCL. Glad to have you onboard.

Oh my goodness Corinna, how in the world are you going to do 106 gifts!!??? I've read about some of those very large DIS cruises and sometimes they would divide up the numbers. I think that would of been a good idea for yours. As for our favs, I love Pooh and Tink (hubby likes Mickey) and fav color is pink (or turquoise blue)

It should not take me to long. I make jewellery as a hobby and can be pretty quick if it is a question of just stringing beads on either string or wire. I am intending to use earing wires for this project. It is probably going to take me about two hours to do this little lot if I was going to do them in one sitting, but I will probably do them a few at the time. With this being such a big cruise, it is hard to get to know people. The most vocal people on our meet thread have cruised a few times together before and a lot of them do the EB Repo as well. So it has proven impossible to find a partner in crime.

Sorry you haven't gotten to close to anyone on your first cruise. I am glad our group is small, that way I feel like I 'know' you all before we get there!

I did some shopping for FE gifts today!!! Yea, I'm getting somewhere. Working on my other idea and spent some time yesterday with that. Hoping I'll get everything I have planned done! So last count I have is seven for the FE, correct?

I think so! I have down 7, so 6 rooms to get something for :)

I think I know what I'm getting everyone, but I keep thinking of other stuff too

I heard from gradysmommy and I think she just posted the FE, so it should arrive at any time :teeth:

AND WELCOME KEVIN!!

48 days!!!!

:cool1: Just getting a little excited!!!!! (can you tell)

Have we decided how we're doing the Fish Extender Swap and what day?

Karen,

It was mentioned at some point (since we are a small group) maybe doing two days (and really the days should be what ever works best for you). Some are doing a gift for the group/room while some are doing gifts for each person in that room. This is our first time (as I think it's several of ours first time doing this) so I want to keep it fun and stress free.

The DW and I will be participating in the FE gift exchange....I thought I wrote that in a post before I left on a business trip....so sorry for getting it up there with only 48 DAYS TO GO!!!!! I too am getting excited if you couldnt tell!!!! Another thing for those of you getting last min. FE together that works really well from a friend who recently went on a cruise is the Disney Nursery Organizers. They already come pre decorated with all the Disney characters on them, but because originally you are supposed to put diapers, wipes, etc. in them they have zippers on each compartment. If you have trouble finding them you could always go to your local scrapbook store and pick up a multitude of Disney items to put on each pocket of the ones from Target. We are also having early dinner and would highly recommend eating early as the entertainment schedule for the evening has more "playtime" available to do what you want instead of taking the only available options due to time.

Karen...I noticed you were from illinois...what part? We are from central illinois around Peoria. Didnt know if we might be flying down together on the same flight!!!! I've been reading between work and didnt see if anyone ever answered your question about PALO reservations. You can and should book them on line. Once aboard they have all the "fun" paperwork, safety drills, reservations, etc. meetings before we pull out of port. Last time the PALO reservations were being taken in Wavebands (Deck 3 Midship just to the right of the atrium when you enter. You'll know you are heading in the right direction by the carpeting that has a roadmap for a pattern) once in line there you can change or make any available reservations for PALO. As long as you get one in online you can always change it without losing it, but i saw a few sad faces for the people that waited til the boarded to try to make one and they were booked solid. The other thing I would suggest, you only have to have one person from a stateroom present to do some of the reservations, so to cover more ground for that hour or so the DW and I try to divide and conquer by spliting up we can be in two lines at once for our stateroom and get more reservations made/adjusted.

As for the surprise with christopher....I would totally recommend (especially if he thinks hes going to seaworld/aquaworld) the Dolphin encounter in Nassau...he is expecting to get to slide down a water slide that goes through a tank of dolphins...how bout getting to pet, dance, swim, hug and kiss a dolphin...My DW still talks about it a year later!!! you get to stand on a platform in the water about waist/chest high and the dolphins come right up to you by direction from the trainers. According to DCL.com the excursion costs Adult:$99 (ages 10 and up) Child :$84 (ages 3-9). There is a huge wall of celebrities that have come down and taken the same excusion...Shaq, Cindy Crawford, Charles Barkley, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan...many many more..anyways so they tape you while you are interacting with the dolphins and you can buy the video....way way way expensive...or you can get a photo in a photo card holder of you with the dolphin and its like $15 for the photo...well my wife and I were unaware as they do not tell you this ahead of time that you have to pay cash (DCL room card does not work at this excursion) so we had $15 in cash on us. The guy showing us the photos saw were were trying to decide between two photos but couldnt, so he took us on the side and said if we paid him the $15 we could have both pictures since it was our honeymoon...we have both of them up in our home office :-) Just a side idea if the Atlantis thing doesnt work out.

My DCL travel tip for the day would have to be on security...Every DCL stateroom comes with a safe to place your valuables in which has a magnetic strip reader as the locking mechanism. They have a little directional card on the top of the safe saying to use your DCL room card to lock/unlock the safe.
Since I felt that if someone were per chance not as "honest" as everyone in the wonderful world of Disney and were to find your card...they now have access to your room and your safe!!!! Scrooge McDuck would have a fit!!! LOL. So instead a handy little bit of info comes in handy....ANY...and I mean ANY card with a magnetic strip can be used as your secure lock or unlock on the safe....so I would suggest stopping by wal-mart before your trip and pick up an unloaded gift card from the check out. Lock your safe with it and hide the gift card someplace in your room where only you will no it is, that way even if someone were to find your DCL room key...they cant get in your safe, and if someone was to find your walmart gift card in your room (they wont know what its for since they wouldnt think to use it to unlock your safe!!!).

Wow Tony, you are full of lots of information. I would of never known that any magnetic card would work. Also, welcome to the FE. I'll ask Hayley to add you to the first post. Also, do you know your stateroom number yet?

I am doing FE gifts for each of the children, and then a gift for the adults to share :)

I will probably come find everyone's FEs on Nassau afternoon :) I need to put them all together on the first night

For the gifts...what exactly are we supposed to do? Something Disney? Something from where we are from? Is there a spending limit as some x-mas exchanges have? just curious...first FE gift exchange i've participated in.

First for you, me and quite a few. I honestly think everyone is 'doing what works for them'. I was trying to find some small disney things (several kids on the cruise) and am working on something else (my surprise gift). Also as you mentioned something from where you are from. Really whatever you are comfy with.
