Sorry for joining the group so late! My DW and I are joining all of you on the sept. 7 sailing of the Disney Wonder...

Tony (25) & Stephanie (23)

Tony (and Stephanie), Welcome to the Dis and welcome to our group!!! We are all getting to know each other online here before the cruise, which is awesome. To have 'friends' we'll be traveling with is so neat. I think it's so sweet you are planning this for your wife and your first annivesary (congrats). Our vow renewal was changed to the Nassau day instead of the sea day (which I am happier about). It will be either sometime that afternoon. Either right before or after departing Nassau.

Are you familar with the Fish Extenders/gift exchange? If so, do you think you'll be participating? How about a dis meet on board at some point the first day? Also, feel free to join the Yahoo group (link on the first post) as it's a private group, so you may feel more comfortable telling us about yourself on there (where the entire world can't read about everything).

Waiting for approval...joined the group...my name on there is the same on here. While I'm waiting for my membership to be approved could someone fill me in on the whole gift exchange/fish extender thing?? How does that whole thing work? Thanks for the warm welcom! If there is any tidbits of information I may be able to help anyone with feel free to message me or ask in a post....my first tidbit for any first time travelers not using a travel agent....get your PASSPORTS yesterday! Starting early NEXT year it is mandatory to have a valid U.S. passport book or card when leaving the US by boat...dont want any of your plans to fall through because of "paperwork":surfweb:

Just approved you Tony. There are a few links on the Fish Extenders in the first post that Hayley has gotten toghether for us.

Thanks!!! Already uploading photos like a madman on our yahoo group. I'll have to go back and read those...60+ pages...our fellow cruisers rock!!!

I thought we did not need passports yet??

I thought a sealed birth certificate and driver's liscense were good enough at this point?? :confused3

Thanks,

Karen in Illinois

SO SORRY Karen....

You are correct...according to LAND AND SEA TRAVEL
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

CURRENTLY:
U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (scheduled to be in full production beginning in July 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
LATER:
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.

I misread what our TA sent us about our trip for next year for our magical gathering....Thanks for catching that...It was earlier than the June 1st date before but they have since pushed it back til then with the production of the passport cards being delayed. Planning two surprise trips can make your head spin lol

Welcome to the thread Toni. If you stay up late every night, you'll surely make it through the 60+ pages of posts.

Ladies, before I forget, I'm putting a plug in for Monique's Boutique in Cocoa Beach. I think it should be called Monique's Unique Boutique. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a fun store in which to browse. I had the good fortune to visit when there were no other customers in the shop and to be waited on by the owner (whose name is not Monique). The sundress I wanted was too long (as are most things when a person is as short as I am) so I wasn't going to buy it. She altered it on the spot.

Monica,

I think you and I will have to take a ride down there while Dale & Warren get to know each other, lol!!! You really got to try to get to bed earlier my friend (posting after 1am).

Tony's got a bunch of photos from the Wonder on the Yahoo group for anyone to see. Stop by and take a look where we'll be in less than 8 weeks.

I'm gone for less than 24hours and their are 400 new posts! :rotfl: :welcome: to Tony and Stephanie! So glad you are aborad w/ us! You already fit right in w/ your excitement, enthussiasm, and great sense of humor! :thumbsup2 Congradulations on your 1st annivesary! You'll have to record you wife's suprised reaction! I am suprising my eldest son for his 10th birthday and Mary is surprising two of her children w/ the cruise also! Lots of surprises and celebrations this trip!
Ok, just to share a funny story w/ everyone. Christopher was a little miffed at me this morning so I tried to change the subject and told him I couldn't wait to give him his birthday present that he is going to be SO surprised. He said he would give his present to Chase. I told him he wouldn't want to give THIS present to Chase. He assured me he would so after a small debate he bet me $5 that he will give his present to Chase. Now my mom wants in on the bet too! Who do you think will win this one? :lmao:

Elana,

Hi there!!! They are talking about the Shuttle from the Radisson (at the port) when some of us are staying the night before the cruise. Are you staying at the Radisson before hand or Disney, or arriving that day?

Hi Pat!
Thanks for clarifying! I wasn't sure which shuttle we were talking about :confused3
We're actually flying in the morning of the cruise...will be keeping our fingers crossed that there are no serious delays.
We're staying in Disney for one night after the cruise - before we got engaged my DH promised he would take me to WDW at least once a year but even though it's only one day it still counts because I get the cruise!!

I'm not sure where you are flying from but I have flown in the same day for 2 cruises out of FL and 2 out of Rome with no problems. I know there are people that say never to do that but, I understand that sometimes you have no choice but to take the chance. Is it an early flight?

Can I get in on this bet? I need $$ for pics while onboard. That is where I spend all my $$ on the cruise.

Welcome Tony and Stephanie!!

Priceless.

You really got to try to get to bed earlier my friend (posting after 1am).

I'm busted. Yes, I definitely should have been in bed sooner. We finished the inventory much quicker than I thought we would, and I could have gotten an earlier night if I hadn't given in to my Dis habit. This morning was not an easy one.

We're flying in from Maryland. I think our flight is supposed to land around 10 am. We're on airtran so I'm hoping even if something goes wrong with our flight we'll be able to catch another since they usually have flights from bwi to mco every hour or so. But I'm thinking happy thoughts and staying positive that we'll be okay.
Glad to hear you've had good experiences each time!!

Of course, it's most likely that everything's going to be okay, but I was hoping you weren't going to say Airtran. They are notorious for changing flight times. It's constantly a topic on the Transportation board. Personally, I've been there, done that twice last year with Airtran.

You might want to, if you don't already, visit the Transporation forum on Disboards. You won't have to do a search on Airtran because there are almost daily rants (I mean threads) about them.

Elaina,

We were booked on airtran for this trip and they changed my return flight from 7pm to 8:30 am. Kind of hard to make it to the airport for an 8:30 flight when you are only just getting off the boat. I have had them change by an hour or so, but never 12+ hours. I cancelled that ticket all together. I have been on the first am flight and normally you are fine. Minor delays but not usually bad. Hoping you will have an uneventful flight.

Yikes! Thanks for the warning guys!

Elaina,

Don't mean to scare you. We've used airtran many times without problems, but I've read again and again of flights being cancelled (and not knowing until they get to the airport) and have had time changes before, but never like the one they tried to do to me this time. I know for some it is not possible to fly in the day before, stay at a hotel and then get to the port (all added expenses), so they do this with no problem. I like airtran, but this time, I opted to cancel and get a refund (as we are actually staying at Disney afterwards and got cheaper flights elsewhere).

Monica,

You were on again after midnight!!!! You have to get to bed earlier when you get home from work, lol, only kidding. 53 days (i think)!!!!!
