I just don't undserstand what is so special that you would pay $60 a person for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? There are parades to see every day, characters (maybe not dressed up in Halloween garb), fireworks, is there a lot of candy or anything else provided? I have 4 kids and I can't see paying for them and DH and I at $60 a pop. That's $360 for a halloween night??????

I didn't go last vacation but we're going this time for sure! People say there are rarely line ups for the rides, you see Characters that normally aren't "out" and you get TONS of candy. For us it's just another Disney Experience we want to have but we're just a family of 4 so it won't be AS expensive I suppose.... We usually plan for 3 days at MK but with MNSSHP we can use that extra day at another park :goodvibes

Until you've been, it's hard to explain.

Yes there are parades everyday--sometimes 2 per day. There are also fireworks alot of nights. But how often can you see in person, the headless horseman going riding by? The parade and fireworks are specially created for MNSSHP. It's just cool seeing something totally different yet the same. How many people can say that they've gotten to trick or treat through Magic Kingdom. And the PP is right about characters that aren't often seen out and about. Everyone gets into the spirit. CMs and guests alike dress up. VERY UNIQUE!

You can enter the park on a party ticket as early as 4pm even though the hours are listed as 7pm to midnight. So you can basically a full-day on ticket that is less than a normal one day ticket. (Yes tickets are cheaper the more days you buy, but a single one day ticket is more than a party ticket.)

Only you can decide if the price is worth the extra expense to you. To us, it is.

I would go every year if I could! There is a ton of candy... and it isn't just the cheap stuff. It is fun to go all out and dress up while at the parks, too.

You see so many characters, and yes, many that you don't always get to see - how about pictures with the villains like Maleficent, Cruella, Jafar, Evil Queen? How about Snow White and ALL 7 dwarves at once?

Even if characters are not your thing, the lines for the rides are much shorter since the tickets are limited.

And I think that the Boo-To-You Parade is the best parade I have ever seen. The headless horseman wows me everytime.

We went to this in 2003 and had a blast! We also attended Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party and the Pirate and Princess Party in the years after but so far the Halloween party was the best to us:thumbsup2 However we are going again in Oct 2011 and I am not sure we will do it again because of the extra expense:confused3 It is so nice not sharing MK with masses of people!

We went several years ago and I agree with you. I would never spend the money again. We aren't in to characters so extra or different ones being out didn't do anything for us. My kids have candy any time they want so that is no big deal and if you are flying what do you do with it?

Now maybe they have changed the number of tickets but when we went about 8 yrs ago the rides were far from walk on and the lines weren't even what I would call short.

The parade was nice but not worth as much as it costs to get in for it.

so we won't be spending the money and wow if it is $60 now I definitely don't think it is worth it.

It's really painful if you have a 6-10 day ticket and those last few days cost you next to nothing. Then, you stare at the $60 and think "no way".

However... If you can make it work, try it. I think if you stay away from the weekends the crowds are usually fairly thin and you escape the heat of the day. We were fortunate to catch a full moon-rise, warm temps, and and all-around memorable night. People-watching doesn't get any better.

If you decided to take the plunge, ask on the boards what nights will probably not sell out and wait to buy the tickets. If the weatherman gives the all-clear (or typical brief showers) then buy the tickets. Brief showers will just make it less crowded.

We have 4 kids. We make it a part of our budget because we love it. The whole atmosphere of the park changed. The characters are in costume, the parade is amazing and the fireworks more special. Those are not things you can see everyday.

I am not a huge proponent of the parties ..BUT MNSSHP IS THE BEST...First, yes there are daily parades..but the ONLY place to see the special Halloween parade and fireworks is AT the party. They do not run the special Halloween parade or firweorks during regular park hours at all.The parade itself is worth the admission. As for cost , yes it is pricey, but party ticket holders get in at 4pm with just a prty ticket, and the party runs till 12am.So that is 8 hrs of park time .MK is the only park that decorates for Halloween and that has anything for Halloween( DTD has trick or treating around Halloween night, but it is PACKED).At the party-There is trick or treating , the villains meet and greet ( which alot of these villains RARELY come out the rest of the year),special dance parties, the parade, the fireworks and rides are open if you choose to do them...If you are thinking about going Halloween night itself , I will tell you that that night SELLS out way before Halloween night( often during the summer). So get tickets early if you choose to go.

We are thinking of doing it again. It IS a lot of money if you already have tickets but the dance party was so much fun for my kids. They danced with Chip, Dale, Goofy and Stitch. The kids loved the fireworks show and the lines for everything were nice and short. Seeing everyone dressed up was fun and the kids liked being able to dress up in the parks.

We didn't go into the park on party day. We used the morning for R&R then got ready for the party.

You can go in at 4p and depending on which party you go to, have extremely low crowds (this isn't the case closer to Halloween, but still...), tons of rare(r) characters, a fantastic parade, and Hallowishes.

My parents took DS and Dneph and decided last minute to go to the party. They raved and raved.

This past September, my family went down and we went to the party. It was the best night of our trip. The park was very empty, we had fantastic character interactions all over, the ambient music was great, and the parade was amazing. It's really cool to see the Headless Horseman go down Main Street. It's like nothing else you've ever seen before.

If you LOVE Halloween, it's a must-do! The park has an entirely different feel, the parade is great, and no waiting for rides.

We went to Disney World in the middle of September 2010 for a week. It was me, my husband, and our then almost 3 year old for her 1st Visit. I had done all sorts of research about the Halloween party and decided it would be a waste of money since she was so young. When we got to Disney my daughter was all about the characters. She loved them all. Well some plans changed and we decided to go to the Halloween party on September 23, 2010and it was our favorite experience that week. Crowd levels were great with every ride in Fantasyland a walk on. Characters everywhere with minimal wait times. If we are lucky enough to get back to Disney 2011 the Halloween party is at the top of our to do list!

Sometimes you just have to give it a try and find out first hand. Because I had completely ruled out going based on my research to what turned out to be our favorite thing.

Whatever you decide you really can not go wrong you at Disney World.

We also have 4 kids and have done MNSSHP twice now - the first time we did it some of the kids were sick so we promised them we would do it again.

Having done it twice now I can say that no its not worth the $60 or whatever we paid (it was much less) - I can't believe the price has jumped that much; thats crazy !!

Yes, its a unique event but I feel most of WDW is unique itself and its somewhat cruel that having already paid for admission to MK you are now being required to pay $60 more for this special event.

My kids liked it but its was not they were blown away by it. I'd say save the $360.

We've done it twice, once in 2001 with just my oldest son and then once in 2004 with my daughter who was only 10 months. I swore we were done, no reason to do it again...until we went in 2008 and we didn't have tickets and we were coming back on the boat from Wilderness and my DD saw everyone going in. Her face dropped. I had no idea she'd even care. That being said....we're going back this year with my parents and it's a definite on our list. It will be our last time but since it's for my DD it's worth it.

That said again..it is fun. True, no lines at most of the rides. I have the best picture of my son and husband on splash mountain in costume.

It is also fab for the little things they don't tell you!! We rode the Pirates of the Caribbean ride with 2 "ghosts" from the Haunted Mansion..... they were going round on all the rides! The fireworks are different and great -AND you don't need to stake out a spot with sharp elbows!! We walked up to the front of the castle area with 10 min to go!! The parades were stunning, the candy great and the dancing with characters was unexpected too.

We GOT A TABLE easily in Pecos Bill's for dinner too!Normally it's a contest to see who can get to the emptying ones first!

The only downer the WHOLE night was travelling back on the boat - the bugs were horrendous!!! Take the monorail!

Attended in 2010 and LOVED it... best parade ever. We have planned our wedding during this time in 2011 so we could go again and so our guests could take advantage of this special occasion. Most of the posts here stated they experienced shorter lines, but I cannot say that was the case with us (was mid-October so maybe too close to Halloween?). Still worth it, especially if you or family members like villains.

MNSSHP
  • Tons of candy, though my kids are not big candy fans.
  • 5 minute or less waits to get on rides. We went on Buzzlightyear over and over and over w/o waits along with other rides
  • Parade that if you get lucky like my daughter, Jasmine came right up to her and touched her nose. Made her feel so special since she was wearing same costume.
  • An your kids will get to tell all their friends "I got to go trick-or-treating at Disney World!"
Well worth spending the extra money for them.

I agree with this!

We are a family of 6, we have been twice and will definitely be going again. The parade and fireworks alone are worth the admission price.

We went to WDW just for MNSSHP this year. The parade and Hallowishes are not to be missed!

We used the party day as our rest day, went into the park at 5 p.m. and stayed until close. There were little crowds, and DS, who's an avid character hunter, got to see lots of characters he wouldn't normally see, and they made for some super special meet and greets.

We went on a Tuesday night in late September. We bought our tickets in advance, and I think they were about $55/person.

Well worth it.
