Disney fans all over the world look forward to attending <b>Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party</b> at the <b>Magic Kingdom</b> every year. Orlando weather is beautiful this time of year, the temperatures are moderate and the skies are often clear.

<b>Halloween Night</b> always <b>sells out</b> in advance, so get your tickets early.

The <b>Magic Kingdom</b> is transformed into a kid-friendly <b>"Spooky" Party</b>! It is one of the most themed special events at the <b>Magic Kingdom</b> and provides an evening of great fun for all!

A not to be missed, fun parade with floats and characters you won't see any other time. Even Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet dress up in costume for the parade! Prior to the parade, an announcement is made and the Headless Horseman speeds past on his horse! Unique floats include a Villains Float, Haunted Mansion Float, and Hades (from Hercules) float.

<b>Adults and Children Trick-or-Treat</b> throughout the park in costume! Upon entering the Magic Kingdom you receive a small plastic bag with a few treats. At designated locations throughout the park, Cast Members give out treats. There are also some Cast Members walking the parade route giving out candy.

<b>Halloween Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks</b> - basically the regular show with a few changes, including Tinker Bell being replaced by a witch!

<b>Characters in Costumes</b> - Characters in the meet and greet areas and throughout the park were in Halloween Costumes!

<b>Donald's Pumpkin Patch</b> - located behind the Christmas Shop in Liberty Square. Donald makes special appearances there throughout the evening.

<b>Cinderella's Coach</b> - set up behind the castle - great photo opportunity.

<b>Complimentary Family Photo</b> - get your picture taken with Mickey's Halloween background! A great memento of the party!

MNSSHP is fun for everyone, regardless of age. Don't be shy about wearing a costume, it's part of the fun. Your kids will enjoy trick or treating in the safety of the Magic Kingdom.

Reading info on this makes me want to go but we are doing big family trip - 10 of us and it would cost an extra $300 for all. Of course we would split that up!

Also the only dates we could chose are Oct 5 a Sunday or 10th a Friday. Which will be least crowded? Oct 5 is also early entry for MK which might be good - our second day in parks and we could get the Fantasyland rides done for kids! Of course we would take a break but it would be a long day in the Magic Kingdom!

DIARAP2003...If you don't intend to enter the park before closing you do not need to use a park pass, just the admission media for MNSSHP!


Miscrapper...I think you may be right about that Early Entry day being less crowded at night...It has been my experience that Sunday nights are less crowded then Fridays, simply because Monday is a school day, but that doesn't always mean anything either! LOL I am sure other MNSSHP veterans can help you out more with this question! Have a wonderful time if you decide to go!

You can buy a separate ticket for the party. It is AWESOME! Have done it now for 3 straight years.

I have two questions about MNSSHP.

First, do the non-Halloween nights generally sell out early? I'd hate to miss the party, but I also don't want to pay for the ticket then not be able to use it if I have to reschedule my trip.

which leadsme to my second question-

what if the weather is bad? Does the party go on? Ae the tickets refundable?

We have ordered tickets!! Never been to the party before. I made dinner reservations at Liberty Tree for 5:30, but wonder if that's a good idea since....the park closes at 6:00; the party starts at 7:00. Between 6 and 7, I'm told by CRO, the rides will remain open to MNSSHP ticket holders only. Wouldn't this be a great time to ride???

Also, where do you get the complimentary photo made?? Want to get in line right away before the line gets huge.

FYI... When I ordered my tickets, CRO told me they were not refundable.

We're a couple of 40 somethings going with no children. Should we dress up in costumes? Do most adults dress up? Will we be in the minority if we don't? (I haven't worn a Halloween costume in years)

My wife and I (first empty nester trip) will be doing our first MNSSHP this year and we've ordered our tickets, but I know very little about the specifics. I have a good idea of what goes on once the Party starts, but from some of the posts, it appears that park closing and re-opening goes on, MNSSHP guests have to wait somewhere during that time and some folks will be eating in the MK (LTT comments) while it is closed.
I (and perhaps a few others ) would appreciate it very much if someone could post (or direct me to a FAQ/thread with) an explanation of some of the pre-party logistics - closing, reopening, dining, when to get there, waiting in the park, etc. I get the feeling that this is another one of those Disney things where knowing a few key bits of info can really make a difference.

I made my reservations at LTT during the same phone call to CRO when I ordered the party tickets. I didn't have any trouble at all doing this, so I guess I got lucky.

My biggest question is whether to keep the reservation because it seems like such a great time to ride the rides...there shouldn't be much of a wait if people w/o wristbands aren't allowed on the rides and people not already in MK at 6:00 have to wait until 7:00 to enter. Anyone else have any experience about this??

Also, where are the photos taken?

Whether I have dinner plans or not I should enter MK before 6:00PM, the night I have tickets for MNSSHP?
If I am already in the park, I can stay and continue to ride, but if I'm not there before six I will have to wait until after 7? Are all of the rides open? Or will I find myself sitting around soaking up the atmosphere (not a terrible way to spend time) during that hour? Is LTT the only restaurant open that evening?

We went last year on the first day offered, first Friday in October. I can't help with staying in the park because we went to Epcot that day (thinking that would be a short day and would have time for a break [ha,ha]). Made in in park a little after 7:00 - just in time to get some photos and autographs from meet and greet pooh characters at Main Street. Then waited right there for parade. Had great seats for view, but not for pictures. We were on inside curve and hard to see them coming. Parade started on Main street and headed back to Frontierland.

I know they had picture set up at POTC. There was a long line, so get there early!

Yes, we wore costumes as adults (even DM - age 62). I would say 75% of adults and 90+% of kids were in costume.

It was extremely warm last October so take that into consideration. If we had had big heavy costumes we would have been in trouble. As it was, son didn't want to wear mask because it made him too warm.

We found most rides to be open.

They said small turn out that night only about 13,000. They will sell up to 20,000 tickets. Some areas seemed very busy for 13,000.

We didn't see it all, just too tired. Best suggestion I can make is try to rest in the middle of the day. We hit Epcot before gates opened and barely had time for a bite in hotel room before chancing for party. Very tired by night's end.

When I called CRO and ordered my tickets, I was told that all of the rides would be open from 6:00 to 7:00, but only to those wearing a MNSSHP wristband. Don't know what other restaurants are open, LTT seemed a good choice for a "healthy" meal before all the candy.

My family and I have been to the last 10 MNSSHP.It is our ALL TIME FAVORITE thing to do at WDW!

When we have gone the last week of Oct. I never get our tickets for Halloween night.We love Halloween and the dressing up part of it so we like to stretch it out a bit! On Halloween night we like to Trick or Treat at MKTPL at DTD.The Boardwalk has had some activities going on in the past such as pumpkin carving and character appearances.

DO NOT worry about crowds at MNSSHP.There is a limited amount of tickets sold for the event.Disney is very closed mouth about the actual attendance but the rides are very doable.Fantasyland gets a little crowded earlier in the evening but thins out as the night goes on and little ones wear out! I've never waited more than 10 mins in a ride line at on a party night.The Mts are practically WALK ONS! We've ridden Splash Mt 3 times in a row without leaving our log!


When you arrive you get a MNSSHP wristband so they know you're there for the party .I've never been that much earlier (usually arrive at 6p.m.) but I think we'll try 5p.m. this year.I think that's a really great idea if you need to rent a stroller or wheel chair.It's really something getting there while thousands of others are exiting....it looks like mass confusion as you arrive but it goes quite smoothly!

My biggest tip is the day of the party have a light schedule and take a NAP the afternoon of the party! I can't stress this enough!! My boys were 9 last year and we still did this.Even if they didn't actually sleep they watched t.v. and rested...Joe and I slept! LOL! You want to be able to stay as late as possible because the later it gets the more the crowd thins out.It seems alot of people start exiting after the fireworks which is shortly after the first parade.

Tip about fireworks...try and see "the special guest" that takes over Tinkersbells flight before the fireworks begins.The BEST viewing area is on the bridge to Tomorrowland.

Costume tip...make sure your child's costume is COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in.You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.
I also suggest something in a light weight fabric.Those of us that are accustom to Halloweens up North are use to Trick or Treating in something warm.I grew up in Indiana and it was always cold and/or raining when I was a Trick or Treater! The costumes that are sold through the Disney catalog,like Tigger or Pooh,the jump suit FUR type ones,those are really TOO HEAVY for a Halloween in Florida!The most we've ever needed at MNSSHP is a light jacket or sweatshirt.I make my boys costumes.Let's see the costumes I can remember... Erich has been a Mickey,a pirate ,a t-rex,a turtle,a triceratops,an Ewok.Jonathan and Erich were Teenage Ninja Turtles in '01 and Pokemon in '02.I make the costumes from shorts and t-shirts.Then I have a sweatshirt and sweatpants that are the same color that they can wear over the shorts and under the shirt if the night is chilly.Joe and I have worn light jackets.

If your little girl is going to be a Princess or something quite lovely... I know she looks adorable in those glass slippers but bring sneakers or some other comfortable shoe for her to wear.I've seen little ones dragging around crying about their feet hurting because they're in those plastic dress up shoes which are killing them!

Here's Disneys "official " guidlines for costumes at MNSSHP:

They should not interfere with their ability to board and unboard attractions and WDW transportation system..

Do not drag on the ground.

Do not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.

Be offensive to other guest.

Should not contain any weapon(s) which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.


About the last one....when Erich was the pirate he had a flexible rubber pirate knife with a skull on the end.When the boys were Ninja Turtle's one had plastic swords strapped to his back and the other the little plastic daggers in his belt.We had NO PROBLEMS either time with these props.

Well that's about all I can think of right now,oh I have a question for those of you going this year...

What are you or your little ones dressing up as for MNSSHP?

My boys want to be black Ninjas..oh boy...I'm hoping I can talk them into something a little more fun and colorful to wear...after all I have almost 5 to months to convince them!!

There are several different places to get your photo taken.

Adventureland...outside Pirates of the Caribbean

Fantasyland....outside of Small World

Tomorrowland...outside of Buzz Lightyear...sorta across from Alien Encounter.

Another question was about weather and refunds.The tickets are non refundable and the party will go on...rain or moonlight!

Love, love, love MNSSHP!! We too go every year. Don't feel weird about going without kids, we do it and have a blast. It's so much fun to people watch and check out all the costumes. The park is decorated so nicely and the characters are out in force. A DO NOT MISS would be the Headless Horseman's ride through the park. Wow! We parked ourselves at the circle at the beginning of Main Street and got a fantastic view. The Parade was awesome. Even thinking about trick or treating myself this year lol......Go and Enjoy! - Nancy
