Just got back from a quick trip to WDW to join some friends for MNSSHP. I rented a Canon 35mm f/1.4 L for the trip and it was a good choice for the parade. The party was not busy and a few kind words with a friendly cast member got us some choice seats right at the bridge to Liberty Square! Here are two photos for now, more to come in the next few days as I get to them.

Nice! Thanks for sharing, my family is going next Halloween. Nice to see what we have to look forward to.

MNSSHP was our favorite night in WDW. Great Pics, Keep sharing. Brings back memories.

Very nice!! Since we're going to the MVMCP with a 30 f1.4 would you mind sharing your parade settings. With the new lens and camera body, I'm in a steep learning curve and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

My thoughts exactly! I have 16 days and 5 1/2 hrs till my flight leaves

Excellent shots Bob!

Would love to see more!

Great work! Love the Horseman shot, all I ended up with was a pic of a guys head when the poor fella behind me nudged me... every time I went to take pic!

You need a longer lens.;) WHACK!

I kept poking him with my sword... lol, he was upset that I stood when the show started, I warned him before he got comfortable that I was going to get up to let any kids behind us come up but I would be the next in line... I thought it was funny, the Rum helped with that!

boBQuincy GREAT headless horseman shot! :thumbsup2

My method is simple, Av mode, lens wide open, highest ISO, exposure comp -1, and that gives the fastest shutter speed we can get (which is not always enough on a 3 generation old Canon Rebel Xsi).

Love these pics! Thanks for sharing. I sure wish we were going back this year for MNSSHP, but I'm happy to get to experience MVMCP for the first time.

Nicely done on the parade shots! Great costume as well - looking totally "Mad"!

Awesome shots Bob! I almost fell out of my chair with your costume :rotfl2:

Question, that last Headless Horseman shot, did you use a flash with a diffuser on that one?

I'm not a Canon user, what is Av mode? I am taking my Nikon D5000 with a 35 mm f/1.8 lens.

Thanks,

the costume was fun and got lots of comments, even a few who wanted me to sign autographs (against Disney policy).

For some of the photos I used a small fill flash set to -2, with the main exposure compensation of -1 this gave a slight lightening of the shadows and a better overall balance.

I asked if flash was ok for the parade (it is) and even though we could not see the headless horseman in the distance we knew he was coming from the hundreds of flashes announcing his arrival! ;) One of my photos is blown out from soneone elses' flash, that's precise timing.
