Mickey's Not so Scary for Adults?

$70 bucks for 8 hours in the park, an awesome and different firework show, a cool parade and free candy? Worth it to us!

My DH and I are attending the last 2 MNSSHP in September without kids and we are very excited. We did the Disneyland Halloween party once when it was still at California Adventure. That was fun, so we figure Disney World's party must be epic. Plus we are excited to hopefully meet Malificent and to see the Headless Horseman ride before the parade.

Hope you decide to go :)

We did MNSSHP a few years back and while it was super cool, it didn't live up to the hype I read on the boards. That being said...we are on the same cruise :yay: and the way our flights worked out we will be checking in Late Wednesday night. MNSSHP is the most effective option to give us maximum ride time for minimum dollar so we are doing it!:thumbsup2 We will check out the Parade but other than that we will just be enjoying MK for a night. I don't know if you could convince me to use 1 precious non-expiring day on anything until 3pm - you can enter MK at 4. We will be hanging out in DTD till party time. See ya on the Boat!:goodvibes

Looks like I'm in the minority, but as two Disney loving adults with no kids in our late 20s, we liked the Halloween party but probably won't do it again. For the cost, we felt it was overpriced for what you get. Wait times were comparable to what they were during a regular day that time of year (in our experience) so we didn't find any advantage with walk-on rides. We aren't character people, so the rare character meets and dance parties didn't interest us. We did do trick-or-treating but by the time we got back to the room, the chocolate was melted and we threw most of the candy away. The parade and fireworks WERE great, but those two things alone weren't worth $100+ to us.

Considering OPs circumstances, we probably would do MK in the morning, monorail to Epcot for lunch, and then boat over to DHS for the evening. I'd even consider going to the Poly to watch Hallowishes if you're really curious on the fireworks.

Thanks everyone for the great feed back. I think righ now we're leaning towards not going. Supposed to be a shorten, hopefully less expensive trip. We're going to be there for the Tower of Terror races. I think we'll just switch and got to MK on the next day and have the full time there. But who knows, get down there and it could change.

If we don't go, where would be the best place to watch the fireworks?

Maybe a patio with libations too!!??

I personally think it is WELL worth it, even just for adults. We've never travelled with kids and we've been to 7 parties in the last 3 years, and are going to at least 4 this upcoming year.

The parade, fireworks, villains being out, and fact that you can dress up in costume are enough of a pull for me! The shows are amazing and superior to every other night!! :cool1:

They've got tons of rare characters out, trick or treating trails, dance parties and lots of other things to do, and if you're a rides person, the wait times are always ridiculously low for the party nights!!

The only place we have watched the fireworks from outside of the park is on the beach at Poly. However, with the construction there, I have heard rumors that half the beach is closed off and they are only allowing Poly guests on the beach for fireworks now. Not sure if that's true and if it is, how long that will last.

I know California Grill offers a great view if you happen to be dining there during that time. Even if you're not, you can still go to the bar there as a walk-in.

My wife and I have annual passes, and we're going to pony up the cash to get MNSSHP tickets for the night we arrive, since we won't get to Orlando until nearly 5PM. Originally we were going to do it to save a day's admission on our tickets (we found a great deal on five-day hoppers), but after we got the APs, we decided to stick with the plan and do something we never did.

The big thing for us is that it's literally the only time adults are allowed to dress up in the parks. We're not wearing anything too elaborate, for example, I'm going as Tony Stark. I got a shirt with a light-up arc reactor in the middle, I'm having a friend of mine that does cosplay make me a gauntlet with light-up repulsor for my right hand, and I'm keeping my goatee long so I can trim it before the trip. That's it. Mobility and visibility is a big deal, you don't want to be weighed down with an elaborate costume.

Honestly, we're not ones for meet & greets with the characters or parades, so we'll probably just do the rides and check out the decorations. But it'll be lots of fun. :)

Even if you're not big on parades, I highly recommend checking out the Boo To You parade during the party. It's clever, charming, and delightful, the highlight of the evening.

I second this. This is the only parade I will watch. I also enjoy costume watching. I seen older gentlemen (55+) dressed as Alice, Dorothy, Little Bo Beep, and a few others. Their costumes were amazing. Another group Cinderella and the stepsisters. The stepsisters were actually male.

Thanks for all of the feedback everybody! I think we're going to end up buying tickets for the MNSSHP and do some "research" as to whether we'll bring the kids in the future.

The boat dock at the TTC is a pretty great location if you can't get a spot at the Poly beach. I like this because you can then go just about anywhere after they're over.

If you're a DVC member, the Top of the World club at Bay Lake Tower is an option. And there's a viewing area at the Contemporary as well.

My wife and I are going to try the party this year without the kids for the first time. I think it will be awesome and can't wait to try it!

I went to my first ever MNSSHP last year (I have no kids), and I LOVED it! So much so that I already have my ticket for this year :cool1:

I'm not big on dressing up, but I did pull together a little Mickey outfit from my basic wardrobe (black tank, red shorts, yellow shoes and a pair of mouse ears) in keeping with the Halloween theme. I loved the trick-or-treating and the parade and fireworks were AMAZING, definitely something to see and well worth the $ just for those alone.

My wife and I are spending one day in the parks KID FREE (!) on October 9th this year before our cruise over the holiday weekend. We have no-expiration park hoppers with four days left, so our plan originally was to start in DHS, have lunch in Epcot (Food & Wine!), and hit Magic Kingdom for the new parade by 3pm and spend the rest of the evening there.

The new wrinkle is that October 9th has been announced as a date for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. So, do we pay the extra $67 per adult to attend the party, or come for the parade and leave for another park (probably DHS since Fantasmic rates higher than Illuminations for us - Extra Magic Hours is 8-9am on that day for MK)? Is the $140 worth it even without your kids?

Thanks for your insights!

Yes, it's worth it! DH and I spent a long weekend in WDW and attended MNSSHP. It was a ton of fun. We didn't do any of the trick or treating but the fireworks, parade, villains interaction, short lines for the rides made it all worthwhile.

I'm considering going to MNSSHP, but I don't know if I will. I'm mainly just interested in short ride lines, Hallowishes, the parade, and extended park hours. Do all the parties run until midnight?
